seems like those darn Zachary's have invaded my game aswell, i will just them ignore them in my reports, results etc. you will not even know that they are there
Off to Ireland than for a quite important race (atleast for us it is) We bring our fittest riders and that results in quite a strong line up with 4 sprinters...
Stage 1/9
We have 4 sprinters but today we are all giving them a free role, they will all follow a different sprinter to see who does best, I also do this because otherwise the chance of us being 1-2-3-4 is quite big if I make a train with all 4 of them in it and that wont be fair towards the ai :wink: Because of the terrible weather no one decided to give it a go and a mass sprint is a fact, in the sprint everyone follows a strong sprinter and it seems that Bozic has the best position behind DFL's Gomes Colinas. In the pouring rain you have to look out but still Bozic takes all risks in order to get past him...will it work?
left: Bozic right behind Gomes Colinas in the rain! right: Borut Bozic takes the win, its his first one!
Result:
01. Borut Bozic AC SPARTA PRAHA 2h43'51

Stage 2/9
The weather was better today and since we didnt really bother to lose the lead we gave the break some room and they made it, a group of 4 sprints for victory and its Slipstream's Greg de Winde who takes the win in front of the great Janik!
Greg de Winde takes the win and the lead!

25 Juan Pablo Wilches DFL - CYCLINGNEWS - LITESPEED s.t
Stage 3/9
Another break that didnt seem dangerous got away, the manager goes to the toilet and when he comes back the escapees have a huge lead :x We manage to cut the lead by a large amount but still, Kobzarenko, Elrick, Thijs and Hess will now fight for the win and the overall lead. Kobzarenko surprises them when he escapes with 1 km to go and since no one reacts he makes it even though he was on the verge of cracking on the last hill. Thijs leaves the other 2 behind to finish with the same time as Kobzarenko.
Kobzarenko wins but is too tired to celebrate
If you wonder why the Spartans were 1-2-3-4 behind the break, I made a train ops:
Result:

indeed, hope you'll still read my story mate
this story isn't going to die --8)
We bring a strong team here with Obsitnik riding here because he is Slovakian, and even though we only have 4 helpers for Bole today no one got away with Obsitnik showing himself to the many Slovakians cheering for their young talent
Obsitnik and the other Spartans take down yet another break
In the final lap the favs show themselves and with 15 kms to go a group of 5 riders has taken the lead and in this group are, strangely enough, 3 South American riders and it isnt the first time we've seen this in Eastern Europe because just like in the world of football where many South American try their luck with smaller Eastern European teams before taking the 'big' step it seems that South American cyclists are following this trend as Rodriguez (Klaipeda) Marentes (Dynatek) and Ardila Cano (Radenska) are all riding as leaders for their teams even though they are good enough to ride for bigger European CT teams. back to the race then, these 3 South Americans are later joined by Van Der Schueren and Bole
The 5 riders are approaching the finish...
The climber Ardila Cano stands no chance in a sprint and therefore tries to surprise the rest but he fails, then Van Der Schueren is up front and Bole takes over and he is on his way to a win but then a flash of yellow sprints past him and takes a surprising win!
Jackson Rodriguez wins in the rain of Slovakia!
Result:
01. Jackson RodrÃguez KLAIPEDA - SPLENDID CYCLING TEAM 5h12'16
02. Grega Bole AC SPARTA PRAHA s.t.
03. Wilson Marentes DYNATEK s.t.
04. Kenny van der Schueren DUKLA TRENCIN MERIDA s.t.
05. Alex Ardila Cano RADENSKA POWERBAR s.t.

08. Jonas Bjelkmark PERUTNINA PTUJ s.t.
09. Harald Totschnig DUKLA TRENCIN MERIDA s.t.
10. Stefan Adamsson PERUTNINA PTUJ s.t.

I sort of tried to explain that just like in my nippo story when I explained why Wellens was riding for a mexican team, then u dont get the idea that its totally unrealistic

also here we're gonna speed things up a bit, 3 one day races coming up, one in Austria, one in Estonia and another one in Slovenia as a preparation for the upcoming national championships...
also since I dont wanna race with the same riders in both of my teams, Serebriakov and Saramotins wont race for Sparta Praha anymore
A small field in Austria for this Salkzkammergut Giro and even though Szmyd is in a great shape he doesn't make it to the finish on his own and so we get a sprint with surprisingly all sprinters present even though there were some tough hills along the way. Kankovsky, the track rider, takes a lead and then everone is waiting for him to crack..but it looks as if he will make it!
left: Hutarovich trying to get up front, right: Kankovsky takes his first win on the road!
Result

Usov was our only strong sprinter here and since the field is quite weak in terms of sprinters we make sure that everything stays together, then Usov has to do the rest since Hutarovich had to let go because of the hills but just as in Austria we come up short, this time Ulanowski is too strong...
Left: A group of 5 has gone away...Right: Ulanowski beats Usov and the South Americans

A nice stage for a break, and since both Trpisovsky and Obsitnik have jumped up an experience level, they get to ride up front in a nice break with some other young guys...
The break on the first climb of the day
The break gains more and more time but in the end the packs gets very close and it will be a close one today, Obsitnik meanwhile is not a part of the group anymore and all our hopes for victory now lie on the shoulders of the 19 year old Trpisovsky, meanwhile the pack gets closer but since Trpisovsky is a bad sprinter he knows that he has to wait a long time if he wants to have a shot at winning
The packs gets closer and while others are getting nervous Ludek keeps his head cool
Meanwhile the sprint is on, the packs doesnt seem to take the escapees down so now Trpisovsky only has to beat the fellow escapees...can he do it? meanwhile I am fighting myself a way up front to get a good view on the finishline...
left: He looks very good! Right: Ludek is losing speed! Will he still make it?
They go into the final turn and onto the finishline...
Did our very own Ludek just make it?
Indeed he did! Great stuff from the young Trpisovsky who was not only the smartest but also the strongest!

thanks for the encouraging comments guys, keeps me motivated
Here are all the national champions, will there be a Spartan amongst them?
Gerrit Glomser (Unibet.com)
Tom Boonen (Quick Step Innergetic)
Ondrej Sosenka (Pictoflex)
Matti Breschel (CSC)
Jesus Del Nero (Saunier Duval)
Rene Mandri (AG2R Prevoyance)
Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis)
Marcus Burghardt (T-Mobile)
Ismael Kip (Krolstone)
Timothy Cassidy (Navigators Insurance)
Leonardo Bertagnolli (Liquigas)
Evgeni Sladkov (Astana)
Mindausgas Striska (Glud & Marstrand)
Laurent Didier (Regiostrom & Senges)
Thor Hushovd (Credit Agricole)
Sylwester Szmyd (AC Sparta Praha)
Hugo Sabido (Barloworld)
Denis Menchov (Rabobank)
Matej Jurco (Milram)
Jure Golcer (Tenax)
Juan Van Heerden (UNE Orbitel)
Frederik Johansson (Barloworld)
Aurelien Clerc (Bouygues Telecom)

So we gained 2 national champions now we still have 5/6 one day races before the transferseason starts, and since there is only space for 5 more riders we want to get some big guys :wink:

btw the remaining months are quite empty for Sparta Praha when it comes down to racing...so we might be heading to next season pretty quickly
The transferseason began after these races that im about to post and since we have 28 riders, with only Bogdan leaving and Saramotins and Serebriakov who wont race for us, we can only purchase 5 riders to make our squad pro tour worthy and to make sure it wont be a short adventure in the pro tour we want a GT rider, a cobbler and a hilly guy. They have to be from Eastern Europe or Germany, Austria and perhaps Switzerland. And at last they have to be 25 years at least, we have such a young team that we need some older guys in the team. In each update I will announce 1 signing and we will begin with the cheapest one who was brought in to give us some more strength in the climbing department. I will also post other transfers from other teams but I will leave the 'unrealistic' ones out...
Our 1st signing:
A nice climber who can maybe even grow a bit and turn into a good rider for the smaller PT races
Other transfers
Cadel Evans -> Caisse D'Epargne
Michael Rogers -> Caisse D'Epargne
Konstantin Siutsou -> Team CSC
Leif Hoste -> Quick Step
Johan Vansummeren -> T-Mobile
John Gadret -> Bretagne
Andreas Klier -> Quick Step
Fillipo Pozzato -> T-Mobile
Damiano Cunego -> Discovery Channel
Andy Schleck -> T-Mobile
Vladimir Efimkin -> Moscow Stars (Going back to Russia already )
Juan Jose Cobo -> Caisse D'Epargne
Ruben Plaza -> Euskaltel
Juan Manuel Garate -> Relax - Gam
Francisco Perez Sanchez -> Liquigas
Carlos Barredo -> T-Mobile
Jose Enrique Gutierrez -> Euskaltel
Jose Ivan Guttierez -> Lampre Fondital
David Zabriskie -> Rabobank
We bring a strong team to this small race but we did have some tough competition. Our strong team controls the race the whole time except for the final 5 kms when some escapees surprise us and take the win while Bole ends 5th. Efimkin, Blanco and Hatton were the escapees...the winner:
Aleksandr Efimkin takes the win infront of Blanco and Hatton

Our next signing is a somewhat older rider, we really need a great TT'er and even though we were close to signing a certain Fabian from Switzerland, who was too expensive for us, we are happy with this guy who will also bring loads of experience with him
other transfers, and there are lots of them, and it seems like Euskaltel will go international aswell after their manager said that if they want to become the best team of Spain they may need some riders from other countries...

My first race on extreme but first a new signing and other transfers!
We needed a GT rider, he probably wont be strong enough for the GT's but in the smaller tours he can do very well, but still he ended 10th in this years tour and that aint bad at all!
Since there are so many transfers in the pro tour circuit im not posting it anymore, instead I'll give u a pro tour presentation next season...
Now, EXTREME!
Since we now have to obey the extreme laws we decide to send someone in the break even though we've brought a strong team. Igor Bogdan, who will leave us at the end of the season is in the break together with 3 others.
Bogdan with Lamon, Menzies and Aflenzer
Their gap grows but up front the 4 start to attack eachother and then it seems that the favorites are going to get them. However when Mares, Vorganov and Ardila Cano attack Bogdan also attacks...but with 7 kms to go the 3 favorites catch the early break but Bogdan plays it smart he can certainly end up in the top 5. In the group behind them we have Martin and Stybar but they stop their work since Bogdan is in a nice position now
Left: The early break and the favorites are up front!, Right: The Spartans with Munoz, Klemme and Pioline
Then the break goes up the final hill where only the strongest riders will be able to fight for the win. With 1 km to go its an attack from Mares and Lamon, Aflenzer and Menzies have to let go while Ardila Cano rejoins them after losing contact on the flat parts. Bogdan then follows Mares till the finishline and surprisingly he can hang on but winning is impossible for the worn down Bogdan. Its a battle between Mares and Vorganov which the Czech wins!
Martin Mares takes a home win while Bogdan ends 3!
Result:
01. Martin Mares PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE 4h20'56
