Roche getting up with two of his team mates. They clearly pass the 3km sign. "Oh well, at least they were inside the last 3k" (timing says 2.8, obviously for the bunch though).
Yet, he was given the same time as Sagan according to cyclingnews.
Anyway did anyone see the crash? It was really awkward the way Matthews started to deviate right and ultimately took Ted King down, I'm curious about what originated such switch in his trajectory.
Well, either Cyclingnews is wrong, or the 3k sign was in a very wrong place.
Either way, there is no way the commentators could have known that, and visual evidence showed it happened before 3k to go.
To me, it looked like he touched the rear wheel of his team mate in front
(Or he drives a Ferrari ).
Sagan had incredible luck to not being hit as well, he was right behind King.
I believe the organisers may have considered the crash to have been inside the last 3km. It would be kinda unfair for Roche to see his race ended for a few hundred meters.
But I have to agree it was really annoying to hear the commentators saying such a thing when they were clearly wrong at least according to the graphic information.

Saw that Kittel got dropped, great Well will bet for him tomorrow again and hope he will repay.
He's the fastest sprinter in the field. One problem. There are mountains
Saw stage 2. Change of plan. 50£ on Sagan then
Btw, to all Boonen-die-hardfans. That's why Boonen's SPR and ACC stat stays as it is. He rarely does bunch sprints now.
It is pretty hard to do a bunch sprint with a flat tire isn't it? He has done quite a lot of bunch sprints this season and got some decent results. He can't beat Cav but who can? He has shown this season he is still a good sprinter. Btw I don't care about his stats in a game
Pozzato sucks!

Well I didn't know that at the time, did I ?
The comment was to a particular user, that constantly keeps posting about Boonen who basically wants him to make as good as Cav

Boonen would've sprinted if he didn't flat at 800m, Sagan even said so directly in the post race interview, so it's quite funny to see you post this at so confidently and then oops.... |

I wasn't watching the race and seeing nobody mentioned him and the puncture after the results came I thought he didn't sprint that well. That makes it different, I think Boonen can do Top 3's in this field but when it comes to Tour, we won't see him that much.

I think you're wrong. Boonen is more eager this year, almost like 2005/2006 again.
He sprinted again in races he didn't sprint in at all the last few years. And he even won on pure speed against guys like Sagan.
He will sprint here if he gets the chance. |

He is faster than last few season imo, but nowhere near Cav, Goss, Greipel, Kittel and co. But he is very good in smaller group sprints, just like Sagan, who is still faster although beaten by Boonen once this year.

You're possibly right, I think he will sprint here, defos. But at the Tour even if he will, he won't get Top 5 etc. Except his Qatar victory that was the only one from a true bunch sprint.
I don't count San Luis. PN victory was in a group of 20. And all cobble sprints are much diffrent to pure bunch sprints. I hope he does well here though, great rider.

Im gutted MCEwen is retiring after this race, when I was about 13, 14 years old, I used to think I was McEwen sprinting up and down the road on my mountain bike during the Tour de France

Yeah, but how fast really is Sagan ? I'd rate him as a third rank sprinter.
Boonen would be second rank or something, together with lesser sprinters like Freire, Farrar, Démare, Bos, Renshaw, Hushovd, Petacchi, etc.
I would like to, but Idoubt he'll even bother sprinting against guys like Greipel, Kittel or Cavendish (which I'd call the only three first class sprinters). |

I would add Goss to that list of "elite" sprinters. Farrar if he ever gets back to form. It think Sagan is right near the top of that next group down, but his ability to climb a little is a big plus.

well of course Boonen is going to sprint. If he sees an opportunity to win, he's going to go for it, and whilst Sagan might be a bit quicker he has the tactical edge |

Small crash, seemed harmless.

Nothing? So no fall for Sagan?
Edit: Gotta love the norwegian commentator! As Geniez was just seconds away from being caught by the pack: "The peloton now has just a short distance to go before they reach the top, Geniez has even less since he's 2 meters in front!"
