Well the question is more intended for sprinters, since they like to trick with their pbs a bit ^^
We do hand in training, electronic in sports day type events. |

Training ties cannot be counted as pbs though, since you wont have an official wind reading (which is nencessary to be an official result. at least in 100/200m). Without wind reading you cnat claim a pb since you are only measured on your official results...

Blame the Brits and their imperial system that you use (you do, right ?) for having people at yours unable to measure kilometres properly along a course.
Just kidding, this happens here too, but the other way round, generally it makes people destroy their p.b. (in minutes per km). At least that's getting you ready for longer distances for when you'll be old.
Yes I was very upset

Once had a "3km" road race where I set a new world record. I was 14

8000m--- 30:10 (looking to lower this greatly in cross country this fall)
Half-Marathon--- 1:35:12

I was talking to a friend of mine who had been in the Army and he was bragging about how well he did in the fitness tests. He also likes to exagurate and he's a bit of a dumbass.
I asked how he had done in the 3km run with about 20kg of gear on his back while wearing boots. According to him he finished at the respectable time of 7.30.
I should mention that he also has absolutely no clue about running and running times.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

The world record is 7:20. Better multiply his time with 2.

7:30 as in 7 minutes, 30 seconds? Damn, the Kenyans and Ethiopians better ask him what his training secrets are |

I came 37th out of 220 on a 15,3 km (they measured 15,8 km, can't these people measure distances properly ?) very windy race last Wednesday, beating my time from last year by one minute or so.
Nothing to be too proud of, but things are getting better.
Bad thing is my knee has been rather painful since the race, and I have a half-marathon Sunday morning (and a heat wave is planned). Meh... |

No spikes ?
I also had cross country shoes with a half-solid sole and additional spikes in my hands this afternoon (well, I don't mean I walk on my hand, but you know what I mean), I was tempted to buy but I don't think I'm going to do cross-country this Winter, so I'll delay that buy. |

I've never done track, except for training, but I've always used spikes for cross-country (the first one I did was in ... 1994 ), and everyone still uses it here. You've got virtually no grip in mud or wet grass without them. |

At my school, the entire course is in the woods where it is all dirt and gravel...
We go to some places where we just run on the road..
Two or Three places could use the spikes, but nobody does anyways. I think we only had 1 person in the last few years where them and he still finished in the middle of the pack anyways.

Any of you guys who play football/soccer?
I do and I want to improve my condition. In relation to football/soccer the best thing is to do interval. Any of you having some ideas of the best interval in relation to football/soccer?
I have thought of 15:15 which is 15 seconds of maximal effort and 15 seconds of walking. I am not sure how long time I should do this?
Any ideas of variants?

You can improve the recuperation time, as you'll only get to walk on the pitch.
I think guys around here do 15:15:15 (running fast, walking or running very slowly, then standing still).
I did 1h27'40" (ranked 24th out of 176) in a half-marathon last Sunday (slightly shorter than an actual half-marathon, but much tougher than most). I was a bit cooked since Wednesday, 18th was very possible if I had managed 1' less. |

But are you sure that my body will get any advantage of the 15 minutes of standing still?
And do you have any ideas of how long time I should do this? Maybe 10 minutes?

If you manage to stand still 15 minutes on a period of 10 minutes you should call the Guiness book of records.
The idea of training (the endurance/resistance part) in football is to reproduce what you do during matches, but make it harder. Standing still means no more effort, so the heartbeat drops and makes you fresher for the next sprint, but also less oxygen inhaled, so less lactic acid burnt (destroyed), so heavier legs. |
