Yep, at a rate of about 1/20 as I stated earlier in this thread.
Actually, in sprint stages where one wasn't leading out the other, they have a career score of 10-8 in Cavendish's favour. Not exactly 1 out of 20.
But don't let facts get in the way of your continued delusion.
I'd like to know where you pulled that stat from. Cavendish has won 10 stages alone at the tour in the last 2 years against Griepel. So I'm pretty certain he's won more then 10 against him in his whole career.
Then again Griepel does avoid racing Cavendish at every opportunity so he can brag about winning 15 continental stages a season.
I've no doubt Griepel has beaten Cavendish in the tour of Turkey and Austria etc. In other words the races where cavendish is training for the real races.
Thats strange considering last year was the first time they rode against each other, unless you count racing on the same team.
Greipel probably avoids Cav since he's guaranteed the win just for showing up, apparently

That post is so ignorant and dripping with blind hatred and chauvinism, that I don't even know where to start debating it

Any cycling results website. Literally any of them.

Considering that Greipel hasn't even been at the Tour both of the last two years, I'm not even going to bother to debate the rest of that incredibly stupid statement.

Of course he does. Greipel raced against Cavendish 46 times last season. Obviously that's a very small number so clearly he's avoiding Cavendish.

Considering that Cavendish hasn't ever even showed up for any of those races once in his career......yeah, the level of stupidity present here is kinda overwhelming me.

Nope.
After leaving Cav's team with the soul desire to ride the tour he then thought better of it when he realised Cavendish would make him look like a fool.
I'm off.
Just remembered why I stopped coming on this message board. Full of little European key board warriors jealous of Britains success over the last couple of years in their sport.
I'm off to support Wiggins "boringly" win the Paris Nice and then watch Cavendish "boringly" dominate every sprint he contests this season.
Might pop back in when he's crowned World and Olympic champion to have a giggle at the "Matt Goss was going faster over the line" and "He only won because the British team dominated the entire race" posts.
Cheerio. |

I'm British, and I agree wiith isso. Me thinks someone is just trolling, like I'm tempted to do when Nicolas Roche and Dan Martin win stuff. I blame my part Irishness, but being part Canadian doesn't turn me into Valverde321 |

Man, none of us (non-Brits) has slept ever since the Brits started winning something in cycling.
I think I heard that "jealousy" argument before. Let's think... USA, Italy, Spain, now the Brits, then what/who ?
Frankly, who should give a damn about the nationality of riders (winning races or not) ? For most of us and most of them, they don't owe us anything...
Just stick to facts, will you ? |

I think nationality doesn't really matter when it comes to riders. Sure it'd be good for the country but you don't like/dislike a rider just because of where they come from.

Oh, off all the crap you've posted in the last 2 pages, this is the funnier bit of all. By far.
Hear, if I had any national bias, as you're suggesting we do, I'd be pretty much unbearable, as I happen to live in that economically ruined part of this continent which is dominating this sport since Armstrong retired. Now, I'm supposed to be jealous of 'Britain's success' (how can I even be jealous of a country) even though GB hasn't even entered the top 5 of the CQ ranking in spite of having the best sprinter since Cipollini (Is this enough respect? Should I have a big photo of him in my room à la Kim Jong-il?).
So, no, your argument is, again, absolutely invalid. Betterluck next time.

Thomas Löfkvist didn't start today's stage at Tirreno-Adriatico because of a fever. Quite a shame as he was looking good for strong GC here.

Ah, too bad. He usually does good there, and, more important, it's too late to transfer him out of my velogames team. :\

To be fair, being of the same nationality as an athlete or living in the same country does give you an advantage though : you get a better access to them. Either thanks t your connections, to the media, etc. So that makes it easier to have an opinion about them, either a positive or a negative one. |

I think you will find that Greipel has been at the Tour for at least 1 of the past 2 years? I seem to recall Greipel managing to beat Cav on 1 stage... don't know where you got that fact from? |

1 year, not 2. That's the point.
I don't know what people get out of being so blindly chauvinistic. If people watch cycling for a display of national pride then they may well be better off watch military parades. I like to see the British riders do well, partly because I've had the opportunity to meet a few, but mainly because I'd like to see the profile of the sport raised in Britain, so we get more coverage etc. Still, most of my favourite riders aren't British and I could never support a rider I didn't respect personally from my country.
As for the Cav - Greipel debate, the competition between the two is still in its early stages, but the fact is that Greipel has shown he has the speed to beat Cavendish, just probably not the consistency to do it regularly
Talking of Cav, I just read a hilarious headline on the BBC: 'Cavendish beaten by Sky team-mate.' They never fail to amuse.
