A very good stage for us. No crashes, not important riders left behind. All my TTers look alright, Serpa and Dees doesn't seem too badly injured, and Contador well place, all spiced up with a decent 4th from Holloway.
I can't ask for more.
Tought luck for Roman though... A deserved jersey gone away.

Competition here is a lot tougher then in the Giro. Not specifically leader wise, but the amount of second leaders is pretty high. There goes my outside chance for a top 20 with Pardilla or Terciado . They can get in breaks now though.

Madrazo's first mountain stage maxxed out, and I can't complain.
Need to pay more attention to Sella tomorrow though.

Santander tear it up as predicted, and Intxausti never really seemed to do much but follow wheels. Good performance by Samwel though!

Nice Santander show, first of many i think. So it will be between Sella,Madrazo and Contador?

I'd say it's a duel. Sella and Madrazo looks to be a cut above the rest.

Good stage for us. Contador seems pretty strong, and has distanced a rider like Plaza a lot here. Also Serpa seems to be climbing well despite of the crash/setback. If he can position himself around 15th here I'll be very happy.
Dees climbing well, and Morabito seemed to cling on for quite some time aswell. Hopefully this means that our team will be placed in the front, going into the right place of any splits.

This is not looking good for Plaza. Not good at all.

And here ends my dreams of red jersey. Still nice to see my team so active.

Good to see Abal on the attack so much - not good to see him fading in the final. Rogers too - I hope he tries the long range attack again in this race.
Santander should be worried - looks like Sella's Italian climbing legs are working in Espana! |

Solid stage, but we really should have kept the pressure on Sella and dropped him completely.
Now have a few more flat stages to survive.

Nicely done by Intxausti. Also Madrazo showed once again who's the man to beat in this race.
I still think Sella will be the main threat though.
Oh, and awesome report!

Damn. We lost Van Winden. Plaza is having trouble finding his way into the top 10. This Vuelta could be a fiasco for us.

Pedraza is already almost 10 minutes behind! Talk about having no chance on a top 10.

Bit of a shame the Sella group was able to come back, but ... Intxausti!!!! At long last he has won a mountain stage, great riding from him. Iglinski and Samwel providing good suppport too, and in the Top 20 GC.
Also, Kittel stays in the race by the skin of his teeth. Last man to avoid the time cut - hugely important for the TTT.
I dont thinks theres ever any doubt that Santander will win the teams classification, but its good to already have over 10 minutes advantage on 3rd placed Festina

That was p*ss poor from Abal. With the national bonus he potentially has a MO stat of 82. Losing 2'25 to Intxausti simply not good enough. |
