In consulation with Cavfan8 we decide that I will be the first with a rider blog ( hope their will come more! after my one)
After the January trainingscamp in Monaco, I went to Australia for the Tour Down Under but first going to the Australian Championship to see our team mate Greg Bailey winning it. After the Australian Road race I went to the first start place of the Tour Down Under. Where we ( Jakab, Mike, Laclan, Australian Champion Greg, James and Sepp preparing us for the first stage. The first stage was a good one for us. Mike got second after good work from the whole team. The second stage was not the best one and then was there the third stage where we got the double with Lachlan and Jakab. So this was a very good race for us hope the next stages will good as it goes now.

Greg Bailey Report
I started off my season with the Australian Championship, my goal was to get in a break away. O thesecond last hill it looked like the break was going to work and my compaions were looking tired so I decided to make my move. I WON!!! Two days later I finished 10th in the time trial championships. Ithen me up with teammates in Adelaide for the Tour Down Under.Mike got a well earned second in the first stage. Then in stage three we got a 1-2 with Lachlan and Jakab. Taking us to 2 out of 5 victories. Hopefully we can continue this great form.

Hey guys!
I'm proud to present my new own blog here and even more happy to be able to tell you about what happened so far! Let me start with the Training Camp. It was great to be in Monaco and to ride on its famous streets! I managed to crash at the famous Loews-hairpin on which so many great Formula 1-Stars rode already...but don't worry, i didn't get hurt that much. Of course do i want to thank my IKEA-Bianchi-team for sponsoring us for all of it...but i think i don't have enough space here to thank everybody i want and for writing about every impression i already got.
My first day of work was 3 days ago, when the Tour of Australia started. I expected us to ride the Cancer Council Classic too, but it looks like noone there has cancer anymore (ha ha). Anyways, the heat, the long races and the high pace of the peloton (which was mostly Jame's, Greg's and my effort) made me understand that Pro Tour races aren't as funny as it is shown on TV - it is much more a lot of hard work. But this is my dream and it is what we all are paid for, that's why it's ok that my legs feel like stones right now. The only thing which really is horrible is the food. There are no more Schnitzel's and Schweinsbraten's...eventhough our chef's trying hard, he can't make any food better than it is here in Austria.
We'll see what the future brings, no matter if i gotta join a breakaway or set high paces in the peloton, i'll be there when my team needs me...well, as long as they pay me good enough!
Yours, Sepp Forcher!
PS: For everyone who speaks german or pretends to do it, just klick the Spoiler...
Euer ForcherSepp!

Stage 4 is a pure sprinters stage, today IKEA-Bianchi will look to set up the win for Mike Pye. Due to the lack of hills Jakab Zoltan will be instructed to stay safe! Old Willunga Hill will settle the 2011 Tour Down Under GC but for now its all about big Mike Pye.
A breakaway group of 10 got away including GC’s 19th Rui Costa from Movistar who is 1min19 down on the overall. Sepp Forcher and yesterday’s winner Lachlan Saunders doing the dirty work for IKEA-Bianchi and the whole Astana team are also chasing.
The gap is now down to 2’43” with 85k left. Surely no chance this breakaway will last.
On the crest of the day’s final small hill the breakaway is caught but with 30km left was this miscalculation on IKEA’s part or are they planning a move? Either way Lachlan Saunders (right), and Sepp Forcher (left) did a great job chasing with effectively no help. A few attacks have tried and failed but if Zoltan goes it could all blow up!
All the top sprinters are in this one! Looks like everyone has a bit of form and wants an early season win. Mike Pye is in an alright position and should do well here.
Tyler Farrar of Garmin-Cervelo takes this one thanks to a trademark leadout from Kiwi teammate Julian Dean. Matti Breschel and Borut Bozic round out the day’s podium with IKEA-Bianchi sprinter coming in 7th after getting boxed in about 1km form the finish line.

A mediocre day for IKEA-Bianchi but we cant expect too much from our 24 year old sprinter Mike Pye against the world's very best! Tomorrow will be the crucial day of this years tour. Old Willunga Hill will make or break Jakab Zoltan's chances, hopefully his 10th in today's bunch sprint is a sign of better things to come
NOTE- If you ever want one of your riders to break away on a certain stage or anything just ask and I will do my best. |
