Tour Meditteraneen Discussion

This stage was better than stage 4, but Kessler wasn´t as strong as i had hoped. Maybe his mountain stat was too low for this stage...
Schillenger was great, though, and Sousa as best in GC, too. I´m missing out the big points, but i could have come much worse.

Roy was really strong, i hope he can´t do such attacks in races outside FrancePfft

roturn
Great day for Rothaus. Hesjedal and Ruijgh were really concentrated and did even the pace for some time. Haven`t expected this. Let`s see what they can do in the higher mountains.

Luck with Hesjedal as 5th overall and best of the same time riders. Bad luck with Ruijgh as 13th and same time with the 9th.

And the greatest: Cucinotta also gets the lanterne rouge with weaker riders out of the time limit obviously. Wink

viking90
Well not a success at the last stage, but I won´t be complaining about this race, quite satisfied.

Although didn´t participate, I´m disappointed with setting of last stage

great win for Roy

BS is all I can say to that.

Sykkel_Freak
Wow, incredible end after the 2 first stages was rather dissapointing. Both first stage win and first GC win for the team!

Hope Di Maggio performs this well the rest of his 82 (now 77) racedays. Pfft

fenian_1234
Well, to be honest, if he can beat Ginanni with his 30-40 race days in this one, then he can win all the others too.

You should end up having a very successful season. Wink

roturn
He got as many race days as my Van Heerden, Passeron and Willems. And first one even earns 10k more. Wink

This is probably one of the very best riders in comparison of salary, race days and possible results in the whole man game. Wink

SportingNonsense
Bellis was a bit dissapointing on the hilly stages, didnt seem to want to attack, but 4th and the points jersey is a good result.

I didnt realise it was as low as 0.2, but ultimately, the race was in the game as a hilly race, not a race mixing hills and mountains.

---

And it seems like work need to be done with riders like Di Maggio, where it seems the average is a poor indicator of strength - an issue, as the average stat plays such an important role on wage/race days/etc. Well done to Sykkel though for getting hold of Di Maggio, if he is consistently this good, he could wipe the floor on the individual CT standings.

Bullshit. I have 2 agressive hilly riders, and you would have thought one of them would have the brains to attack with the leaders. Really disappointed with this result.

Seems I'm one of the few who benefited from the stage setting; 6th and 7th on GC, so thrilled with that. I'm actually shocked Richardson managed to stay up there, even pace setting at one point.

It was an exciting finale, for definite.

Just noticed, and the teams classification! There's a shocker. I almost don't believe that one...

yeah, was a great race for you. 6th+7th and you earn lots of points, more than me with 5th and 12th at least. Wink

Good job

Let's remind ourselves that Di Maggio was a team to team transfer from Webeffect for 535,000 on the 5th day of transfer season. By which time most of us had spent our big money on riders. Certainly if I was a bit more patient I would have put myself into the bidding for such a rider, probably going as far as perhaps 750,000 - I would have had misgivings about some of his shortcomings.

It was a very smart transfer by Venchi, if a slightly surprising one from Webeffect. Of course Di Maggio may find it harder in longer classics that are in the Protour, which is why Webeffect were happy enough to let him go. He isn't that dissimilar to Bianchi's Claeys, VolksWagen's Flugel and Proximus's Ben Nasser or even a hilly version of Jose Alarcon. Claeys, Flugel and Ben Nasser were pretty successful last year and will likely do well again this year.

People have been dishing our a lot of congrats so far, but this is one that is truly merited. Big congrats to Sykkel Freak, I am surprised by the abilities of Di Maggio.

Nice performances for Roy and the Cyclevox duo and another very average performance for my CTour champion pick T.CS Bank. They really do need someone to 'ignite' their season!

Di Maggio to win the CT-tour, if he keeps his form Venchi will be one of the favorites for promotion

Rapha Condor move back up to the top of the standings after a Bellis performance well supported by Appleby, Sulzberger and Jiriakov - they took 174 points from the race. Vespa are up 3 to 6th, while Trilux enter the Top 10 - holding off Venchi, who like Rapha Condor, scored 174 here. The big movers are Saab-Scania, up 13 to 16th.

If I can stay about 20th for the rest of the season I'll be pretty happy, but I'd really like to reach the top 15 for my goal. If Gautier can also stay that well placed in the individual rankings, I will be a very happy man.
