Strong win for Cav, Greipel still needs to improve the positioning part of his sprinting. He took Cav's wheel yesterday when there werent many other sprinters left, but in the 'proper' bunch sprints, he doesnt seem able to battle to get the right wheel.
Sky need to realise that EBH wont win these stages tho. They can put G to work as much as they like, Top 5/Top 10 is all he can do.

This Cav win is very deserved for those morons in Lampre, Garmin and Sky who worked for him.
And for my fantasy team, of course.

Would you rather other teams didnt even bother trying to win the stage then?
Much better that they are positive and try to win, than leave it all to HTC and watch the breakaway win, and HTC still end up doing the majority of the chasing anyway.

He got the same issue that Greipel got right now. He got bumped by Renshaw off Thomas wheel. But Thomas went to early anyways, so he wouldn't win today anyways.

I'm almost 100% confident that Cavendish would never have this kind of die-hard support from all his team mates in ANY other team. Including Sky. He should stay in HTC and Stapleton should do everything he can to find a new sponsor.
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

Greipel is really strong, if he was able to take Cav's wheel, I wonder who would be the winner today. |

I would rather have HTC burning their train, then working, than working in the precise moment for HTC to conserve their train and then get my ass kicked, as usual, in the sprint. But hey, that's just me, maybe they haven't figured out that they have nothing to do against the HTC train yet.

I dont think EBH and Greipel are comparable. EBH doesnt seem to have a particularly strong acceleration at all - he isnt a bunch sprinter in short, and before the TDF Sky seemed to suggest that, yet here he is going for the bunch sprints, and it looks like Swift - who does have more of an acceleration - was used today as the man infront of Thomas, which is a shame.

Well, your british and im norwegian. This conversasion will not end well if we continue hehe.
But EBH has an acceleration, he did come in 5th with a lot fighting for position into the sprint. So your wrong there. Swift is most likely tired or something. I dont know.

Well, it was only Lampre who came to help out HTC before HTC were fully out - and at the time Petacchi had Cavendish' wheel so it was in Lampre's interests to go down the HTC route and try to have Petacchi outsprint Cavendish. Garmin took over when HTC were pretty much gone, it was just less effective today than the Farrar stage win because Sky came though - and Skys problem is that while Thomas is strong, EBH isnt too good at getting himself on Thomas' wheel, and staying there.

My nationality has nothing to do with the facts about EBH - he may have come 5th, but he did not have an acceleration today. He is good at maintaining a fast speed, and thats all he did today. He was on Cavendish' wheel briefly, lost that to Farrar and he couldnt make any impact on his own after that, never was he a challenge to the 4 riders finishing infront of him.

Well, look at the riders behind him them. He's not a bad sprinter at all. He is a Rojas type of rider. Good in hills but not at the top level of the sprinters.
But i do think it was a reason they rode for him and not Swift today.

Haven't seen Petacchi in the top-10

I agree with Sporting. Edvald is not a classic sprinter, his kick or acceleration as you like is too weak to match Cav Greipel or Farrar. He has a immense top speed though but his problem is that he can't reach his top speed.

It may be that Swift is tired yes - the TDF will be a great learning experience for him, but it takes some getting used to, but theres a reason why they started the race with the intention of working G>EBH>Swift even if it didnt come off on the Farrar stage with them being squeezed off G's wheel. If both were at 100%, Swift would have more chance of challenging Cav on these stages.
EBH is a good 'group sprinter' but in the full on bunch sprints, with a top quality field, I cant ever see him winning.

Yes indeed I've never said he is on the Cav level, all im saying is that they proberbly rode for him and not Swift for a reason. Maybe Swift is not feeling good. Or they see EBH as a better sprinter. IDK.

Yeh, he dissappeared again - but when Lampre were helping chase, he was on Cav's wheel.
