I think EBH is contracted for another year yet but still i think they are two different riders. Would hate to see EBH leave sky =(. Cav is a pure sprinter and EBH is a tougher sprinter who can cope with hill,. Similar to Thors victory the other day. Plus Cav cant compete in every race in the calender so EBH will have chances to get his own sprint victories. =) |

Agreed. Anyway Hagen next year has a focus on Classics/Ardennes ( if lucky with not having injuries ). And one week long stage races like Paris-Nice. Cavendish coming won't really change his schedule. He is not best Sky sprinter at the moment anyway.
Though still don't want Cav. With Swift and Appo-Jet they have future stars in making. No need for Cav imo, but well I know why they want him.

Perhaps the new UCI rule of preventing convicted dopers from being employed in team management, will convince Millar/had a part to play in convincing Millar in moving to a different project. Perhaps the Aussies have offered him a clause to get into their Olympic programme for endurance coaching or something, seeing as BC has their anti-doping policy.

Hagen left HTC because he didn't want to lead out Cav. He will probably leave Sky for the same reason.

I can see Hagen doing his lead outs only at Le Tour. Rest than that, they would have completely diffrent schedules. |

Im glad someone agrees =). I want to see Swift and Appo develop too but wont having a figure like Cav around be a help to them? Personally i would like to see Cav. I think it will raise the profile of team sky even more in the UK and hopefully inspire more young Brits. Plus Henderson and Sutton maybe leaving makes space i feel for another sprinter to come into the team. Just imagine TDF leadout....Thomas, EBH, Cav =D. Pure Speed
oops. Still new to this forum. Still not sure how all these quote boxes work =S

I think Cav would be very useful for Sky, but what I don't want Sky to do is to turn into next HTC. Sky is quite mixed now and I like it. If Cav came the sprints might take over GC's etc. That's the only thing I would fear if Cav came.
Though siginging Henao is a good sign they won't. |

True. I dont think sky will go down the road HTC went down. Not with young Kennaugh and froome looking good in the mountains aswell. Just a shame it wont all come together next year due to the olympics. Wiggins and Thomas will be busy on the track.
What will happen with the olympic road race and road time trial. Who from sky will be competing there. All i have heard so far is that dowsett will target the road time trial. Is there any more news on where riders will focus there efforts? |

On the "Hagen vs. Cav" case. Both Hagen and his manager has told norwegian media they wish Cavendish welcome to Sky. "That will take away some pressure, both from Hagen and the rest of the team." The manager also said Hagen and Cavendish are good friends, so I doubt Hagen will have any problems leading out Cavendish in the Tour, or in any other race they both participate in, and goes to a mass sprint, which hopefully won't be that many, if Hagen continues the development of this year.
And Hagen didn't leave HTC because he had to lead out Cavendish, he was happy to lead out Cavendish. The problem was that HTC restricted his opportunities for development, they told him to concentrate on sprints/power on the flats, so he could be a great leadout man. He felt that limited his options, and it obviously didn't suit his mind to mainly focus on sprints/flats. I doubt that is or will be the case in Sky. |

Only Wiggo and Thomas will do the Olympics ( Track ) me think. Just hope they won't take Swift either.
It's not that bad. Thomas has already said he is going full steam on classics and will be 100% form on them, he also said he wasn't like that this year. Then someobdy suggested he will do Giro and then prep for Tracks.
Wiggo is similar. He will probably target one week race like P-N or something similar. Then will more likely be Sky GC leader at Giro and prep for Tracks.

Acording to Gilbert, only Euskatel and Lampre had "no interest"
My guess is that Gilbert is going to Lotto, BMC or Quick-step.

Wow. That was some performance from G if it wasnt atacked 100%. Great rider =D The progress of the Brits now team sky are on the scene is amazing. Maybe Sky should attack the womens side too =D |

I was so shocked when they didn't because think if they had got Pooley Cooke and Amrestead plus all the new girls coming through Trott & co plus they would have been able to get the rights to races as eurosport only hold a few in GB then just shown sky riders win after win and women cycling is more entertaining more attacks and all. |

Maybe this isnt the right thread to talk about this in but the fact british cycling is just as sucessful in the womens side aswell as the mens side on the track. (the birth place and inspiration behind sky) makes me wonder why they havent. I think womens cycling needs its profile raising so yes i think team sky should think about it and maybe they could also get some scandinavians in like they have on the mens side |

Michel Wuyts said, during the last stage of the Tour of Suisse that Gilbert is NOT going to ride for a Belgian team.
And Astana can't give a 3-year contract so Gilbert will probably go to BMC. Van Avermaet won't be happy!
Also, Boonen will choose his team within this week. Here's an interview in Dutch:

Having just read Millar's book, I could actually see this happening now. He has a pretty close relationship with both Matt White and Stuart O'Grady. Matt White is likely to be a DS at Greenedge, and perhaps O'Grady is another potential rider to go there. It would still be a tough decision for him to leave Garmin, but Greenedge could well be a possibility.
