After a few hours of thinking and planning, I've built up a ground idea for how the team will be built next year. As known from earlier, we're aiming at a completely different type of squad than we did this year.
As a result of this, several riders will be leaving. While the outcome of the renewals will decide what we decide to do with a couple of riders, there are a few who I've already established are leaving at the end of the year.
Most notably, and perhaps a shock to some, is that one of those leaving is the man who the the team was built around this year, Italian champion Gianpaolo Caruso. After helping us stabilize ourselves in the Continental Tour this year, I think that he'll be better off somewhere else next year. His age was also one of the major factors in this decision.
Caruso will be looking for new challenges.
Also leaving, is this year's vice-captain, Przemyslaw Niemiec. While he may have been one of our best riders during the season, his glory days are starting to run out. The Polishman probably still has a season or two on decent level left, but he doesn't really fit into my plan for the 2013 team.
Niemiec will also leave after just one season with the team.
The rest of the riders who won't be a part of the team any longer are:
The world's most useless sprinter, Crescenzo D'Amore, along with another sprinter, Emanuele Rizza. In addition to those, also climbing domestiques Massimiliano Maisto, Daniele Pietropolli and Paolo Longo Borghini, and finally also sprint helpers Marco Marcato and Marco Zanotti.
Mauro Santambrogio, Marco Osella and Edoardo Girardi may also leave if they can't accept cutting down their respective wages.
As you may notice, that doesn't leave us with any huge amount of riders. That's because I decided to keep the most promising young talents as a base, and then hopefully strengthen up the rest of the squad with new riders during the transfer season. The team will be very different, that's for sure.

Team News #44: Season ending
With only Japan Cup left on the schedule this year, it's safe to say that the season is more or less over. It's been a year with some very good races, but unfortunately a lot of bad ones as well. Mainly due to that we've been relying too much on two riders; Caruso and Niemiec.
That'll change next year, with both of them leaving. After an instructive first year in the ManGame, the team will change completely for 2013. The focus on the mountains will be dropped and replaced by classics. Hilly and possibly cobbled one day races will be where we'll be seen next year.
We're also leaving east from Italy, to start up the new headquarters in Kazakhstan. From there, the goal will be to clean up cycling's name after the Vino-era. The plan is to target young talents and then build up for a top team a few years into the future. More or less all of the current squad's riders will be leaving.
Goodbye Italy, and hello Kazakhstan!

Very interesting. Sure about dropping Mountains though when Kashechkin is a free agent?
I wonder who will be targeting real life U23 champion Alexey Lutsenko then

Yeah, it certainly will be interesting. I've got a really good plan for this I think.

Signing Kashechkin wouldn't be the best way to clean up Kazakh cycling, would it?
But in all seriousness, I'll be building for the future. He's a bit too old I think, and is already decreasing. Not saying that I'll pass on him if I end up with a bit of money left over though!
And I have noooooo idea where Lutsenko will be going. Wait...

Funnily enough though, I was already pondering about Iglinski's future at Vesuvio. He may become available at some point during transfers depending on how they play out for me

I like the change, and wish you the best of luck.
Will be interesting to see if you become an "only-talents-team" or if you also decide to go with a strong leader or two. |

I could very well be interested. We'll see.

I haven't decided yet. The main focus is on development, so I wont trash several hundred thousand on a big name leader, like Caruso last year, but it would be helpful to have one or two riders who can bring in some points.

It's nice to see some movement in Kazakhstan, as almost every good Kazakh rider is getting too old, this will be a really nice positive impuls for local cycling.
I am not sure if I can let go either of my Nepomnyachsniy twins though.

I'm hoping to fix the aging problem as soon as possible.
And if you ever change your mind about any of the Nepomnyachsniys, just tell me.

Not all of them.
A few of the young talents are staying for sure. Salerno as well, as he's very useful in the hilly classics.
But yeah, there'll be quite a number of leaving riders.

Great change! (moans behind the corner, as he was also interested to gain some riders from Kazachstan, as nobody seems much interested in them earlier).
Maybe you will not try to sign all of them in the end. (Or maybe you will want to let someone like Niemec go ).

I'll certainly try to sign up the top young talents.

Zeits is reported to be in love with the newly announced Kazakh project Pellizotti2 announced a few days ago. It's said he's absolutely thrilled that there will be a Kazakh team in cycling, and he also speaks highly of how much he wants to join the team.
Can you accomplish Zeits' biggest wish in the coming transfer season? |

I'd be more than happy to take Zeits aboard the team. We're always interested in strong riders, especially from our home nation and surrounding countries.

Team News #45: Mountains after all?
It appears that I may have spoken a bit too early about dropping the mountains focus in the last news statement. After meeting up with our new sponsors, it looks like we may still go for the big climbs also in 2013.
Apparently, all of our new investors agree that going all talents will probably result in dropping out of the Pro Continental Tour after next year, due to lack of results. According to them, that's not acceptable. Therefore we'll have to try and sign a couple of strong riders that can bring in some points alongside building for the future.
Although the goal is to clean up cycling in Kazakhstan, all the sponsors think that the country's big star Andrey Kashechkin deserves a second chance after his former suspension. Other riders they'd like us to go for are Stefan Denifl and, if made available, other Kazakh star Maxim Iglinski. Obviously we don't expect to sign up all of these, but the people in charge of our money would like us to successfully claim at least one of them. Two, if possible.
Apart from those big names, it's still all about talents tho. We believe that Kazakhstan has a lot of promising youngsters that we'd like to promote to the big stage. Hopefully this project will be a success a few years into the future.
Kashechkin to join the new Kazakh cycling project after all?

Ukainian media brought up to light rumours concerning the licence awaiting D2 team Metinvest-Emirates and their look on central European and west Asian cycling market. As they were also being rumored to have interest on signing some talented Kazach riders, it is reported that the new emerged Kazach power project (former Ferrari) should stop their dreams about that.
According to the info of reliable source from Ukraine, Metinvest could be instead of that interested in some former Ferrari riders ,who could be doing the place for the domestic Kazach riders. They already showed interest in experienced Pole Przemyslaw Niemec, who could well become one of their 2013 leaders if they would get the license for PCT or CT.
Other than that, Metinvest is said to be interested in some potentially leaving italian riders, like Dall'Antonia or Capecchi. Media speculates if this interest even bothers the newly forming team from heart of the Asia
