Oh, you're right my bad. However, no one thought about the guy who won both sprinter classics the last year. I can't remember his name now, though. |

SanRemo fine. But thats hilluer than Copenhagen.
Paris-Tours is hardly a good reference tool these days.

The fans may perhaps not rate Freire, but the riders sure do.
Before the Worlds in Geelong, almost every rider interviewed said "well, we can't make it easy for Freire" or some variation of it.
And it showed in the race. Clearly they were racing against Freire more than against anyone else.
And for the second year in a row an uphill sprint....interesting.

These are the two best references I can think of. For length and racing style, it's the closer you can get to a quite flat WC. And I'm not saying he's the favourite #1, who is Cavendish, but ruling him out is very wrong. And I'm sure the US, UK and Aussie (to name some of the strongest riders' teams) team will take him into account. |

The route of a race is only one aspect - whats more important is the quality of field. Paris-Tours did not have that.

Are you insulting Arashiro?
Now seriously, I'm not talking just about Paris-Tours. He won San Remo too. He was up there in the WC. You can't rule Óscar out with a route like that. That's it, and I'm sure we can agree about it. |

Here I'll give my predictions
MSR: Freire (Takes it again and rest of season we won't see him)
Vlaanderen: Leukemans (beats everyone and teammate devolder totaly fails)
PR: Hushovd (Wins in a sprint a deux with Boonen)
LBL: Vino (Gilbert in top 10 after winning Amstel)
Giro: Nibali (Dominates the giro from start to end, second Kreuziger and third Scarponi. Ricco fails and doesn't finish in top 20)
Tour: Basso (no reason here just wins, Second Vino and third Samuel Sanchez, Rasmussen finishes at 5 rode the tour for saxo, due to Contadors suspension, Schleck Nowhere to be seen)
Vuelta: Contador (got his return and finishes at first with 15 min before nummer 2 Anton, Gesink finishes 3)
WCITT: Gustav Erik Larson
WCRR: Pozzato(in a sprint with a group, like 2010)
Lombardia: Cunego (Rode the giro and won some stages and also wines Lombardy)
My Hopes:
Yukiya Arashiro or Freire win the WCRR and green in Tour.
Moncoutié wins KoM in Tour.
Leopard-trek team has a epic fail.
Sagan wins LBL
Gesink wins tour

MSR: Freire (does it again, but wins only 2 races this year)
Vlaanderen: Boonen (only day we see him this year)
PR: Hushovd (wins the sprint from Cancellara)
LBL: Gilbert (also wins Amstel and on Mur de Huy)
Giro: Nibali (agree with yannic)
Tour: A. Scheck (easy win because Bertje can't ride, hopefully Gesink 2nd!)
Vuelta: Contador (because then he might start again)
WCITT: Cancellara (even with one leg)
WCRR: Freire (and then quits)

Cancellara wins RvV and Paris - Roubaix again and then tops it off with another WC TT win.
The Giro is once again the most entertaining GT.
Mark Cavendish takes another six stage wins in the Tour and finally wins the green jersey.
Andy Schleck is second in the Tour again.
Peter Sagan wins a bunch of stages, but no major GC wins.
Menchov wins the Giro.
A group formed on Poggio will succeed in the Milan - San Remo.
A group of 40 riders will fight for second place in RvV.
At least one rider from each of the 3 Grand Tours will test positive during the year.
Keukeleire takes his first ProTour win.
Michael Matthews will be the second best sprinter throughout the season, behind Mark Cavendish.
A french rider will be the Lanterne Rouge in the TdF.
Taylor Phinney will disappoint and won't take any big victories.
Tyler Farrar wins Vattenfall Cyclassics.
Saxo-Bank won't be in the top 10 overall in the TdF. (assuming Contador is banned)
Soler will finish a GT.
Intxausti wins Basque Tour.
Leipheimer tries hard to win Tour of California again, but fails.
Greipel doesn't take any GT stage wins.
Scarponi finishes top 3 in the Giro and Tirreno GC.
and the last and probably most probable prediction
Garmin surprises once again in the Tour with a new climber talent, this time it is Thor Hushovd. He takes the entire Tour, along with the Mountain and Points jersey. Oh, of course everyone under 25 will also get disqualified because they blocked Thor in the sprint for 53rd place and he takes the youth jersey as well. Not to mention the fact that he also takes second place because he rode the Tour twice and still faster than number three. Since I also said earlier that Andy Schleck would be second and Cav would win the green jersey, that means Thor is Cav and Schleck combined. Thardy Schleckendishovd for president. |

Tour: Schleck, Sanchez, Vino
Vuelta: Menchov, Anton, F Schleck
WTT: Cancellara

Contador will win the TdF once more again. His ban will end immediately before it. Obviously pretty wrong.
Geox will fail with Menchov and Sastre in the GT`s. So they won`t sponsor in 2012. At least Sastre and Menchov didn`t perform that well and Geox isn`t sponsoring. Who would have expected Cobo to be there.
Voeckler will get the yellow jersey for at least 5 days. Easy one.
Garmin Cervelo won`t win any big cobbled classic (Gent-Wevelgem, Ronde Vlaanderen, Roubaix, Kuurne, Scheeldeprijs) Neither will Cancellara or Boonen. Fail. Boonen in Gent-Wevelgem and Vansummeren in Roubaix...
So it`s Flecha time Although it was more like a joke, his best result was 9th in Roubaix was worse than I expected.
Sagan will be incredible in the first 3 months again and wins Paris Nice. He was more awesome in the last 3 months. At least he won some stages in spring but not Paris Nice.
Giro-Liquigas fail
Vuelta-Euskaltel fail |
