Team mission
- Lost no time to the favourites with Brajkovic, Leipheimer and Popovych
- Get in the break with Rast
Favourites: Philippe Gilbert, Joaquin Rodríguez, Samuel Sánchez, Vincenzo Nibali, Igor Antón, Frank Schleck. My tip: I do not know, so I bet on the winner irl, Peter Sagan.
Yes, Impey was really surprising, I'm satified
Lets see if Gilbert/Sánchez had make the stage win:
Depart.
SaxoBank hold the rider together, so the pack could sprint for the points.
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 4
Amets Txurruka (Euskaltel) 2
Carlos Barredo (Euskaltel) 1
But at the Côtede la Croix de Teulet, Gutiérrez Palacios is in front, chased by 6 rider after him.
David Gutiérrez Palacios (Footon) 4
Anthony Charteau (Bbox) 2
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 1
At Coussca-Bonneval, the break leads ca. 4'00" before the peloton.
Mirko Selvaggi (Astana) 3
Grégory Rast (The Shack) 2
Markus Burghardt (BMC) 1
The pack still rode slow, so the front group leads now with 4'30"
Grégory Rast (The Shack) 4
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 2
Anthony Charteau (Bbox) 1
Mirko Selvaggi (Astana) 7
Anthony Charteau (Bbox) 5
Grégory Rast (The Shack) 3
Mikael Chérel (FDJ) 2
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 1
At the Côte de Sexcles, Burghardt and Rast lost contact with the others.
(Break, -2'00" Rast&Burghardt, -4'55" Peloton)
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 7
David Gutiérrez Palacios (Footon) 5
Anthony Charteau (Bbox) 3
Mirko Selvaggi (Astana) 2
Mikael Chérel (FDJ) 1
2'55" ahead of Groupe Rast-Burghardt, 3'10" before the peloton.
David Gutiérrez Palacios (Footon - Servetto) 3
Mirko Selvaggi (Astana) 2
Christophe Riblon (AG2R) 1
With 23,6km to go, Phillippe Gilbert accelerates, followed by Le Mével, Ridríguez and Cancellara.
But Philippe was the only one who could build a gap from a half minute. Liquigas, QuickStep, Sky and Lampre lead the pack.
Gilbert reaches the front group, and work now to hold the peloton away.
But 4km before the finish, Gilbert is the last of the break and keeps himself in front. For RadioShack, it is going worse, just Popovych could hold himself in the front group.
Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma) 7
Peter Sagan (Liquigas) 5
Thomas Voeckler (Bbox) 3
Benoît Vaugrenard (FDJ) 2
Grega Bole (Lampre) 1
Gilbert at the flame rouge. He lost time, but nobody can steal him the stage win today.
Gilbert celebrates his great victory, at the background the pack sprinting for the second place.
The pack comes in, the only rider from RadioShack here is Yaroslav Popovych.
Brajkovic and Rast cames in with a residue of 2'10".
The result:
1.) Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma) 5h04'39"

Bad stage for RadioShack, and my prediction didn't fail.
Correct Gilbert was strong, nobody could really follow, and at the end, he managed to get away. A strong performance from the Belgian.
Radio Shack was just disappointing, but I hope that we can strike back tomorrow in the mountain stage to Mende.
Next update
Tomorrow afternoon the first stage of "Tirreno - Adriatico", maybe in the evening the 5th stage of "Paris - Nice".
@Pellizotti2
I really don't know, probably a bit of all I will try to get Popovych in the Top 10, but also will send rider in the breakaway
Tirreno - Adriatico
Tirreno–Adriatico, the "race of the two seas", is an elite cycle race following a route between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts of Italy. Traditionally held in early season, it is considered important preparation for the Milan – San Remo classic race. From 2005 to 2007, it was part of the UCI ProTour calendar, and although it was reclassified in 2008 as a UCI Europe Tour event, when organiser RCS withdrew all their events from the UCI's premier calendar, it became part of the UCI World Ranking calendar the following year (wikipedia.com)
The Shack: Our leader is Andreas Klöden, who will try to defend his 3rd place of 2009. Tiago Machado and Haimar Zubeldia are his strongest helpers in the mountains and are Co-Leader, if Andreas fails. Fumiyuki Beppu (a trustier helper) and Matthew Busche (who should win expierience at the hilly stages) are domestics.
In the sprints, we focus on Gert Steegmans (Tirreno-Adriatico will be his last preparation race for Mailand-San Remo and the flandern classics), his sprint helpers Tomas Vaitkus and are also here.
The opposition: The topfavourites are clearly Alexandre Vinokourov and Ivan Basso. Also Kim Kirchen, Roman Kreuziger, Damiano Cunego, Nicholas Roche and are able to win the overall here.
In the sprints, our main opponent should be Mark Cavendish, but with Alessandro Petacchi, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Óscar Freire, Allan Davis, André Greipeland Daniele Bennati, there are many other good sprinters which compete.
Stage 1: Livorno - Rosignano Solvay, 142 km
Team mission
- Top 5 with Steegmans
- Lost no time (Klöden, Zubeldia, Machado)
Favourites: Mark Cavendish, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Alessandro Petacchi, Óscar Freire, Gert Steegmans, Allan Davis. My tip: Just as always if he compete. Mark Cavendish.

Firrst attack today was at the end the breakaway group (does not really often happend in PCM), just three rider today. Here in front with 5'28"
Marco Frapporti (Colnago - CSF) 5
Staf Scheirlinckx (Omega Pharma) 3
Thomas Faiers (Footon) 2
With ca. 90 km to go, Astana begins to chase the break.
Rabobank and Lampre joined Astana at chasing.
Staf Scheirlinckx (Omega Pharma) 5
Marco Frapporti (Colnago - CSF) 3
Thomas Faiers (Footon) 1
Break still 3'42" in front, and just 46km to go.
Thomas Faiers (Footon) 5
Marco Frapporti (Colnago - CSF) 3
Staf Scheirlinckx (Omega Pharma) 1
The break has no chance, Astana, lampre and Rabobank rode very hard, and Cavendish and Henderson fall back!
Marco Frapporti (Colnago - CSF) 5
Staf Scheirlinckx (Omega Pharma) 3
Thomas Faiers (Footon) 1
At the 10km banner, Scheirlinckx and Frapporti have 24 seconds. Looks bad for them.
Now it get a real hard day! Beppu is not able to stay in the peloton, just as Greg Henderson. Cav is in the pack, but just at the end. It is a perfekt stage for sprint-puncheurs just as Luca Paolini or Óscar Freire.
2,5km to go, and Acqua & Sapone has a perfekt position. Reinier Honig leads Luca Paolini, can he actually lose this stage? From The Shack, just Andreas Klöden is able to sprint, but maybe Gert Steegmans could came from behind if is energy gel will work.
Paolini with a big gap, a perfekt performance - until yet. From behind, Jan Bakelandts, Óscar Freire and José Joaquin Rojas come with high speed, and Paolini gets slow!
Just 300m to go. Will it reach for Luca Paolini? Can he make a victory in a ProTour-Stage? The three other come with high speed. Not in the picture, but also interesting: Davis and Steegmans fight for Place 6.
No, poor Paolini! Freire and Rojas at his backwheel could pass him. But still a great 3rd place. Gert Steegmans finished 6th.
The result:
1.) Óscar Freire (Rabobank) 3h19'54"

Team: Caisse D'Epargne
Team mission:
- Get a Top 10 (Brajkovic/Leipheimer/Popovych)
(- Get in the break)
Favourites: Igor Antón, Samuel Sánchez, Vincenzo Nibali, Fränk Schleck, Jurgen Van Den Broeck, Joaquin Rodríguez. My tip: With the 3rd place in stage 4, Vincenzo Nibali shows that he is already in shape and has good chances to win today.
@FreitasPCM
I think he had have luck, just survived the hills better than the other sprinter and and made an awesome 4th place in a masssprint
@roturn
Leipheimer actually with 70-75, Popovych and Brajkovic with 75-85. If the opponents don't push too much, I think Leipheimer can hold himself in the front group. Hope he can manage this.
Depart in Maurs. Today the queens'stage, the finish is 700m over them.
Although we try to get in the break with Rast, later with Impey, we failed. The mountain points goes to a 7-men-breakaway, after the Côte de Montsalvy, 5 other joined from behind.
Marcel Wyss (Cervélo) 7
Rubén Pérez (Euskaltel) 5
Fabio Fellini (Footon) 3
Vicente Reynès (Colombia) 2
Markus Fothen (Milram) 1
With 6'30 ahead, the break gets the mountain points of the Côte de Lassouts.
Vicente Reynès (Colombia) 4
Gianni Meersman (FDJ) 2
Rubén Pérez (Euskaltel) 1
The intermediate sprint in Saint-Geniez-Dolt also goes to them, and still 6 minutes in front.
Marcel Wyss (Cervélo) 3
Florian Stalder (BMC) 2
Rubén Pérez (Euskaltel) 1
Enrico Gasparotto and Nicolas Vogondy try to get away, 70 km before the finish.
The 12-men front group at the top of the Côte de la Crouzette.
Jonas Ljungblad (Omega Pharma) 4
Markus Fothen (Milram) 2
Gianni Meersman (FDJ) 1
Another attacker in the pack. Fabian Cancellara tries his luck, but the other let him not go.
33,4 km before the finish, Cancellara tries again to get a gap to the peloton, but Vogondy and Zabriskie tries to follow him and close the little gap fastly.
OK. Let us guess which guy tries just another acceleration? Right, Fabian Cancellara. But just as before, Liquigas and Garmin work against him.
20 km to go. Attacks in the front group, so just 5 rider in the breakaway,, but they have just one minute against the peloton.
Now the race gets funny. At the start of the Côte de Chabrits, Nibali, Gilbert, Moreau and Zabriskie accelerate. No Cancellara^^
Now at the top of the mountain. Gilbert is the only one of the attackers who could stay in front, but it seems that the pack won't let him go.
Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma) 7
Christophe Moreau (Caisse D'Epargne) 5
Peter Sagan (Liquigas) 3
Thomas Voeckler (Bbox) 2
Daniel Martin (Garmin) 1
5 kilometer to go, and now we come to the important mountain today, ther Montée Laurent Jalabert! In 4 months, RadioShack will ride it too, in the Tour de France. Gilbert still in front, but just with 9 seconds.
The first (and only) attack at the last 5km. Joaquin Rodríguez with a powerful acceleration, can he win here (just like in real life in the tour de france?).
Looks good for him, he have a little gap short before the mountain sprint. Leipheimer with problems even with Ivan Rovny, whp protects him, and it seems that we will not see a Top10 today from RadioShack
Yes, just as in the TDF in real life, Joaquim Rodríguez wins the stage to Mende, with a gap from 15 seconds to the pack.
The sprint of the pack, there are many rider. And, one good news for the Shack, Brajkovic and Popovych lost no time today.
The result:
1.) Joaquim Rodríguez (Katusha) 4h30'07"
2.) Thomas Voeckler (Bbox) +15"
3.) Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma) s.t.

89.) Christian Vande Velde (Garmin) s.t. Leipheimer another poor performance, but thats ok, we will see him in May. But I'm satisfied with Brajkovic and Popovych.

But I might be wrong
Nevertheless good luck in the next stages, maybe you can get a top 10 with Popovych.
I had this, then they fall back... I did not believe much that he can reach the Top 10, but maybe I have luck
@Bugus
At my DB, this stage was classified as a mountain one
I just caught up with the story, its really good. Great results.
Out of interest what is Impey's sprint stats for you, because I have him in my custom game and he started at 77, but that is on the PPDB database.

Hi Thank you, I try my best.
I play with the DB from the pcmdaily.com Expansion Pack V2 (which you can download https://www.pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro...hp?did=767 here), and Impey starts there with a 75 Sprint and a 76 Acceleration Stat.

Team mission
- Top 5 with Steegmans
- Lost no time
Favourites: Óscar Freire, Marc Cavendish, Alessandro Petacchi, Allan Davis, Gert Steegmans, Luca Paolini My tip: Óscar Freire shows that he is the best of the sprinter in hilly stages, so he will win today.
