A New Beginning: Rabobank 2010
hellboy
Unlucky that Nuyens got caught, this year it is tougher for Rabo without Flecha. Great storySmile

Thanks. I'll do my best best to get some good results even without Flecha in the team Smile

It's good to hear that Smile

It's a great team to play with except maybe for the northern classics. But don't get your hopes too high for the sprints either. Brown isn't capable of winning and Freire isn't what he used to be.

The route isn't as hard as the one in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad but it still should be an exciting ride. The race also marks Fabian Cancellara's first race of the 2010 season
i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac168/alexkr10/2010%20Season/PCM0002-2.png

Tom Stamsnjider and Rick Flens both tried to break away from the pack but none of the attacks got a bigger gap than 2 minutes in front of the pack.

On the last cobbled section of the day, Lars Boom attacked and managed to get away in a solo ride. He had a maximum advantage of 1 minute and 40 seconds before being caught with only 20 kilometers to go.

i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac168/alexkr10/2010%20Season/PCM0001-10.png

10 kilometers before the finish, Vansummeren, Flecha and Leukemans attacked the pack but they were caught 4 kilometers later. With 5 kilometers to go, Devolder and Nuyens tried their luck but they stayed in front for less than one kilometer.

The race ended in a mass sprint, with Haussler doing a perfect job for Hushovd leading almost the entire sprint. But with a just a few meters before the finish line, Breschel jumped from the Cervelo wheels and took the victory.

It wasn't the best race for Rabobank, the best rider being Langeveld on 54. Nuyens finished 57th, one place in front of Brown.

Same time with Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne and Clasica de Almeria, the GP di Lugano is held, a hilly race that will mark the Schleck's debut in this season
i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac168/alexkr10/2010%20Season/PCM0003-7.png

The escapes had no chance against the pack even though some important names such as David Millar and Richie Porte were there. They were caught before the last lap.

There were a lot of attacks at the top of the last climb but neither of them was good enough to make any big gaps so the race was going to be decided on the downhill, which is not the best terrain for Gesink to ride on.

Efimkin was the strongest and he won after beating Lopez in the final sprint. Karpets led the pack 55 seconds behind the AG2R rider, while Gesink was the Rabobank rider, finishing 21st.

We'll have to start getting some wins soon though. The sponsors aren't getting any happier with every race that passes

sure, riders like Menchov, Gesink or Freire just MUST collect wins Smile I´ve talked about e.g. "unnamed" story when average rider Santo Anza has won almost all stages in team´s season debut Grin I understand ppl are happy when they could beat big stars and collect win after win, but for me, as average user of pcmdaily, it becomes a bit boring after one or two pages...

i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac168/alexkr10/2010%20Season/PCM0001-11.png

There were a lot of attacks at the start of the race, everyone wanting to be in the breakaway but it was Antuna and Reus who made the best move and got away from the pack on the first climb of the day.

i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac168/alexkr10/2010%20Season/PCM0002-4.png
Kai Reus forcing the pace

They put in a very good ride, Reus being the last one to be caught with less than 20 kilometers before the finishing line. With a bit of luck they would have definitely been able to make it to the finish.

On the last uphill sections, Martens tried to get away with a few attacks but he didn't manage to get a gap. It was Iglinski who got one in the last 5 kilometers.

He was caught inside the last kilometer and lost the first two places to Petrov and Pacheco, but hanged on to the last place on the podium. The start of the season isn't a great one for Freire who barely made it into the top 10 today.

CQ Rankings

Marc Cavendish' great performance in February have put his team, HTC - Columbia, in the lead of the rankings. Voeckler's good month also moved Bbox up to third, while the leaders after January, Footon - Servetto, are now only 9th, with Francaise des Jeux keeping their second place.
After some rather mediocre results in the second month of racing, Rabobank lost a few places in the CQ rankings and we are now on the 15th spot.

February was definitely Cav's month, who won the overall and 5 stages in Qatar, 4 stages in Oman and some other good performances in the cobbled classics, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne.
Geslin keeps his second place got after January, with Voeckler climbing to third, while the previous leader and the winner of the only Pro Tour of the season race so far, Manuel Cardoso, is now 6th.
Rabobank's best rider is still Paul Martens, but he is now 19th in the individual rankings.

Thanks for the info. I can see all of them including the Kazakh one.

I found the site from where I took the original pictures and now I'm converting and uploading them again to an album with the same address as the previous.

I guess the other work since I've already uploaded them again (had a folder with them on my computer), which means that I won't have to edit all of my posts since the flags will get their old address.
