I just finished Volta a Catalunya in Career. It's really hard to create gaps on the hilly stages so Rabon, the man that won the prologue also won overall. Realistic right? At least the rest of the top 10 overall were decent hilly riders. |

So i played the Giro d'Italia.
I simmed the TT's and flat stages and did the mountain stages in 3D.
What particularly surprised me was that a sprinter like Petacchi joined the early breakaway to protect his jersey
Another really cool thing was that i fell twice with Basso, in the descent of the Gavia and the Mortirolo, trying to attack. I guess this is due to basso's weak stat in downhill. I managed to get back to the other favs though, with the help of Péraud(OLO) who seems to be a great descender.
Another cool thing is that Sammy Sanchez' team controlled all the stages, as he was the big favourite, and on the hills his team's best climbers really tried to break the peloton apart.
These are some of the results:

The stage over the gavia, Sanchez and Scarponi escaped in the descent of the Gavia and managed to keep their lead on the Passo del Tonale. Big crash took place in that descent (caused by Basso) and 2 heavy injuries causing riders to abandon the race!
I.M.O this giro was pretty much normal, no strange things like weird time gaps or other stuff.
PS: I have to admit that there weren't many strong climbers in the race. Basso-Cunego-Scarponi-Sammy Sanchez. All the others had like 77 or less in MO

Is anybody interested in playing a few mountain stages in Giro or Tour to see how the A1 is, and then reporting about it here afterwards?
To see if results and timegaps is realistic, and how often breaks makes it to the finish etc. Also could be cool to see reports from the big classics.
So i tried the Tdf in carreer, with Liquigas. I got owned biig time
I noticed that less favourites attacked on a summit for the mountain points. I was always annoyed by this... made it much easier to win in pcm 09...
I was shocked (in a good way) by the AI. E.g. there was a stage (crossing the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet and Soulor-Aubisque) where Cyril Dessel attacked to gain pts for the mountain jersey. He won the race with 14 minutes advantage on Contador and the other favourites. Due to this raid he became n°1 in GC . Too bad for him he sucks at TT and got his ass kicked by Contador at the end. Another cool thing was that, if a team contained two favourites, they worked for the one that was better in the GC. I noticed this in the Rabobank team; At first Gesink was better in GC and Menchov protected him in mountain stages, but in one of the races Gesink crashed and lost alot of time. After that, Gesink protected Menchov.
These are some results i had:
Tour de France_Wanze - Arenberg Porte du Hainaut
The CB stone stage.

Pretty realistic result. Sastre attacked on the Port de Pailhères and only Contador managed to get back to him. Weird was that, when i tried to attack in the descent of the Pailhères with Nibali, i couldn't get away from the peloton... While sastre, who is a lousy descender managed to get 3 minutes...
Bunch finished after 36 minutes and contained 76 riders.

Stage crossing the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet and Soulor-Aubisque.
Crazy stage if you ask me but not impossible! Remember Rasmussen's raids for the mountain jersey. The big group finished after 1h20, but they weren't overtime Kinda strange if you ask me. Again, Contador owned. Noone could keep up with him on the Aubisque. I really enjoyed seeing that a breakaway could get such an advantage and keep it all the way to the finish.

50 Luis Pasamontes R. CAISSE D'EPARGNE + 6'56
The time trial in the end of the tour. It surprised me how much time i lost here. Kreuziger was one of the favourites and lost like 3 minutes on Leipheimer. I used to win the time trials in pcm 09 tho
The loser of the day (Aitor Galdos) Lost 11 minutes(!)
I guess I haven't seen any anormalities in this tour. Perhaps downhill stat has a kinda low impact on the downhill riding. |

The downhill-rating is even more important in PCM10 my opinion, but attacking isn't very smart. Use the "dot" and increase/decrease the percentages between 75 and 99. Make sure that you never go above 170 in pulse. Try to go away from the peloton before the downhill starts, or at the top of the mountain. That's my experience from online games. |

You mean people dont team attack online. Thats the reason I never played road races online. But if people aren't doing it these days then I'm in.

I have only played a lot with three other persons over Hamachi, so I don't know about Gamecenter etc. But yes, I noticed a fantastic gameplay during the mountain stages in the Giro. It's possible to attack a long way from the finish and maintain the lead to the very end. In that way thing changes very fast from stage to stage, and it's possible to lose 2 min in one stage, and win the next stage with 2 min.
Because of all the turns when you're going downhill, you're just wasting your energy if you attack all the way down, and you don't get the same "boost" while you are attacking in general.

In the manual it's called something like "own power", the rider uses the amount of energy as u put on the energy bar. (the 0-99 bar in de control panel) |

Has anyone played the stage to Montalcino in the giro yet? How does gravel affect the racing, I've noticed there isn't a stat for it, so is it just the cobblestones stat? |

ried the Alpe D'Huez stage of the Dauphine and although I forgot to export the results the final result was something like this:
First 5 across the line all with the same time (Contador, Schleck, + 3 others - 1 of whom was from the break of the day)
next 3 came home 18 seconds down,
then a group of 5 about 30 seconds down,
then bigger groups from about a minute down....
overall, much better than the usual massive gaps from previous editions..... |

It kinda made not much difference to me.. No more crashes or flat tires and the peloton stayed together. It might be different when it rains... I'll test it in the rain now |

Playing the Giro atm with Liquigas on extreme in tour-mode. I just installed it a hour ago, so my first experience of PCM10. The results of the prologue were realistic stat-wise. Not random riders winning. Very happy with this. Did first 2 flats in detailed simulation. Won the first one with Bennati, and the top 10's are realistic here. After that, the TT. I finished 42 seconds back to Katyousha at the first and second intermediate, and then i won the TT with 48 seconds. Was a surprise, since it's my first time on extreme. It's alot of fun so far, looking forward to the first mountain stage.

Totally! Back in 09 attacking downhill was a good tactic to gain some time on your opponents, but not anymore. I've tried a few times and i've ended up crashing or just getting a few seconds for way too much energy. |

I have experienced the same thing. The downhill skill is really importent in the 2010 version. And that just makes the game more realistic and fun

Why don't you consider Valverde a doped rider?
It's not proven
Blood transfusions are very difficult to prove. They found blood bags of Valverde (has his DNA) so he was a doper or was going to be a doper. Anyways, he should be punished...
valverder is just doped get it he is just a shitty noob ! i like to see they catched valverde! They have catched him |
