Riis' pride said that.
On the Saxobank website Riis says an international sponsor would be just fine for him. |

LEGO, VESTAS and Carlsberg are all of Danish origin and leaders in their fields....
Lego have never been big in the sponsoring business. Vestas is not that financially stable as you may think. Carlsberg could do it in theory. But they might be too busy with all this football stuff...
Well, they don't sponsor Liverpool anymore (or will stop doing so, don't remember), so they do have a bunch of marketing money in the budget. But in a realistic perspective, it's not going to happen. They've previously denied being interested at all.
KASI Group would be fun. I'd say that cycling fits their markets better than Brøndby IF (or AGK for that matter)
That said, I believe that, if Riis manages to find a new sponsor, it'll be an international one. Perhaps a bookmaking company. |

Troels Vinter, Niki Ostergaard and Christopher Jensen all invited to Saxo's training camp. They're still Glud & Marstrand riders, though

Maybe you Danes can put a little pressure (emails) on some of your major companies like LEGO
If LEGO sponsors a cycling team, I'll commit suicide before someone makes a "Riis building a team" headline

Don't worry LEGO don't have the economy to sponsor a major cycling team, nor do they need to, their brand is propebly one of the most well known in the world behind Coca Cola.

Optimistic, but I agree that they would never sponsor a team

Not entirely true, Schleck. LEGO is one of the companies which has had excellent results for the past 2-3 years. It's true that they were very close at going bankrupt 5 years ago, but lots have happened since then
This article sums it up pretty well: https://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyl...nd-denmark
Edit: That said, I do of course agree that there's no chance that LEGO will sponsor a cycling team.

Well i was aware that they had good proftis theese last years, but thought they were still not in an economic situation to do a major sponsorship after their crisis in the first half of the 00's.

Sorry, here let me put 2+2 together on the saxo bank issue.
Saxo BANK.

Well... RaboBANK is starting an Off Road team this season...
There's a few banks that have/had problems, but not nearly all of them. |

Actually, it's a genius move in sports psychology.
No rider has ever been more motivated to win their national jersey as those guys are going to be

Only problem is if they win something there will be photos of them in that jersey everywhere.
My personal aim would be to sneak the mountain jersey on the first day of every tour and see if I could stay in that.

Noé Gianetti should also come out in the Liechtenstein Champion's shirt, seeing as how he won the race |

Okay... I'm now a Footen Servetto fan.
I can't help it... I like ugly jerseys. I miss some of those truly horrendous ones that made the rounds in the 80's. For me, the uglier the better. |

I like the Footon Servetto jersey. Think that it is beginning to be a little bit to many dark jerseys. So a gold one is nice. |
