Hot Wheels - Porsche | We're back!

Last month has been a decent one for us, but the results weren’t as noticeable as the months before. This month we have some nice races like the Tour de Picardie and the Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg. Last year we finished fifth in Picardie and we won in Luxembourg. This year our sponsor goal is to take a stage victory in Luxembourg. It’ll be difficult, but of course we’ll give everything to achieve that goal. California will be difficult as well with a very strong field, so our Top-10 in GC sponsor goal will be even more difficult than the goal in Luxembourg. We also had sponsor goals in the Bayern – Rundfahrt and the Ronde van België, but we got rejected when we wanted to subscribe. Well, at least we have some other nice races to ride.

May
11/05 – 13/05Tour de Picardie (3 stages)France2.1
13/05 – 20/05Amgen Tour of California (8 stages)USA2.HC
30/05 – 03/06Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg (5 stages)Luxembourg2.HC

Stage Preview

Last year we started here as well. Then we won the mountain jersey and we took a fifth place in the GC with Watson. All our riders are actually in not very good shape because they didn’t race a lot the last few weeks.

We had Freire in the breakaway and although his shape isn’t very good anymore he’s still doing well. He won the first mountain sprint, got second at the second one, and after that he won the third and fourth. He now has 18 points while the number two has 6 points. In the other two stages there are only fifteen points left to take so it’s really looking like he’ll win this jersey. Well done!

The breakaway got caught and the mass sprint was a uphill. Argos rode for Mezgec and it looked like he was going to win the stage, but Raymond Kreder passed him with a final jump. It was very close. Kreder is the first leader here. Freire is now on an 8th place in the GC after he surprisingly took two bonification seconds at the second intermediate sprint. A Top-15 place should be possible for him.

Freire may wear the mountain jersey tomorrow. It’s been a while ago since we’ve worn that jersey. He has a big chance on winning it, but first he has to survive the other two stages.

Today's Winner

sutty68: He's in a very good position indeed, but with only two flat stages to go here it'll be difficult. Wink

Tour de Picardie – Stage 2

Stage Preview

With another flat stage today we wanted Garcia Sánchez in the breakaway. Watson was one of the stage favourites, one star, so the peloton won’t let him go.

Garcia Sánchez did what he had to do: winning the intermediate sprints. He wasn’t able to take any mountain points, but he won one intermediate sprint and got second and third at the other two. Nice job! Now he virtually moved to the 3rd place in the classification.

The breakaway included thirteen riders, but the peloton started chasing early. Already with fifty kilometres to go the gap was only two minutes. But after that, the peloton let them go. That was very strange, because Garcia Sánchez is only twenty seconds behind in the classification. Fortunately the other twelve riders already lost more than four minutes, so maybe he could take the leader jersey! With ten kilometres to go, the gap was two minutes so it was sure that the breakaway would fight for the stage win. But it was also looking good for the leader jersey. With six kilometres to go there was a mass crash. Some of our riders were involved in it. And of course one of them was Luis Freire, who was 8th in the GC. But he wasn’t the biggest victim. Race leader Kreder had to give up, just like Hutarovich who got injured as well. Number two in the GC Mezgec fell as well so we got a completely different GC after the stage.

Garcia Sánchez choose Reimer’s wheel but he was very tired. Within the last two kilometres he lost half a minute. Reimer took the stage win, but what happened with the GC?

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Tour%20de%20Picardie/Stage%202/PCM1193_zps6e38917f.jpg

THIS happened with the GC. It was Garcia Sánchez who took the leader jersey with a gap from more than two minutes! He has to win this with one flat stage left.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Tour%20de%20Picardie/Stage%202/PCM1194_zps6e05319a.jpg

Theoretical it was still possible to lose this jersey but now it’s sure that we’ve won it. Freire lost his good position in the GC but we’re happy he wins this jersey. Now he only has to bring it home.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Tour%20de%20Picardie/Stage%202/PCM1195_zps39857891.jpg

And of course we’re leading the young classification as well, with four riders! Watson will wear this jersey and with some good sprinters out of the race we’re going for a good sprint from him. Keep an eye on the white jersey tomorrow.

Today's Winner

I have to admit i didn't see that coming Smile

What a Great position Sánchez is in now, he must surely win this race from here now Wink

The Rider
Really happy for Pablo, after all this attacking he deserves this.

-- Another GC win is on the horizon here. Any chance of a 'records' post in one of the opening posts of the story? Wink

MrUfo87
sutty68: I didn't see that coming as well. Pfft He really has to take the victory now. Smile

The Rider: It's always nice when an attack results in something unexpected like this. Smile Well, I didn't reserve a post for that a year ago. I have all the team results in an Excel file. Maybe I can attach that to the first post. Othewise I could add the results to the third or fourth post.

The last stage of the Tour de Picardie. Today Garcia Sánchez could take his first victory of his career. The only thing he had to do was staying on his bike and finish without any time loss. But the final part of the stage was a local course in a city with many corners, so there was a chance of a mass crash.

It was quite an easy day. After the breakaway was set up, which included two cyclists, we settled us on the head of the peloton. The sprinter teams started closing the gap to the two riders at the front. Of course we’d have a mass sprint.

Watson used a nice trick. There were only two riders in front of the peloton so he took the lead at the intermediate sprints. There he took a third place and took two bonification seconds as well. That moved him up from 6th to 3rd in the GC.

The breakaway got caught and Champion System was setting up the train for their sprinter Park. Watson took his wheel, while Commeyne took Watson’s wheel. He choose the right one; Commeyne won the sprint, Watson finished 5th.

Garcia Sánchez didn’t lose time and there weren’t any crashes so he managed to win the general classification of the Tour de Picardie! It’s the first victory of his career, the fourth of the team this season. What a great race and an unexpected victory. Watson finished, just like last year, on the fifth position. Sobczyk and Heckel surprised to take twelve and thirteen in the GC.

Although Freire was a bit fed up after losing his good GC position yesterday, he’s very happy with his victory in the mountain jersey. It’s his first one. Last year we won this jersey as well, but then it was Watson who took it.

Garcia Sánchez also won the Young Rider classification, of course. He did a great job here and he had the luck that the peloton didn’t chase the breakaway yesterday. But he still had to finish the job and he did it. What a victory!

Another GC victory. (With that poor FLT stat Sanchez was lucky there wasn't any big crosswinds) Banana

If Watson was on the same form as he was a few races ago, he might have finished on the podium aswell. Wink

Spoiler

-- If you don't have race leader jerseys for Tour of Denmark, USA pro cycling challenge, tour of the Basque country, Vuelta a Algarve and a few other races say so if you want them.

MrUfo87
The Rider: We've had some luck here indeed, but that's what you need sometimes, isn't it? Yeah, Watson can't be in great shape the whole season. We've used his shape then to ride some good results, and he still did well to take fifth position here. Wink By the way: I'd like to get those jerseys.

Here you go: LINK HERE

Just copy everything in the file to: Program Files/ Cyanide/PCM/ 3D/Cyclists/Cloth/ Race.

(You might not have some of the races such as Elk Grove, but you might add them in the future.) Wink

Amgen Tour of California – Stage 1

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage1_zpsee8bcba3.jpg

Last year we didn’t perform very well and with a strong starting field here it’ll be even more difficult this year. Besides that our cyclists aren’t in a very good shape so it’ll be a serious challenge. Many national champions are starting here: Degenkolb (Germany), Boom (Netherlands) and Haussler (Australia) are the biggest names. Besides them there are many other national champions. In our team we have Rodrigues (Portugal) and To (Hong Kong). Katusha is the strongest team here with Rodriguez as leader and Moreno and Pinot as very strong fuglemen.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%201/PCM1196_zps3841fdee.jpg

Aguilar tried to be in the breakaway but eventually it was Rodrigues who was in it. Although he’s not in very good shape he was very strong. Especially during the climbs he was the strongest. He was second at the first mountain sprint and he won the second one solo, after he attacked. At the first mountain sprint he just rode on head of the breakaway and they gave him the points. That made sure that he’ll wear the mountain jersey tomorrow!

It was a quiet day for the peloton. At least, until the final part of the stage. There was a climb which top was five kilometres before the finish. The breakaway got caught just before the climb. Some riders who attacked got caught during the climb.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%201/PCM1198_zps4dc482a0.jpg

On the top of the mountain we had four cyclists leading. Their names: Samu Sánchez, Montaguti, Westra and Rodriguez. They had to sprint for it. Who’s going to take the stage victory and the leader jersey?

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%201/PCM1199_zps7ab1299d.jpg

It’s Samuel Sánchez who was the strongest in the sprint. The finish photo is almost the same as last year. And then it was also an Euskaltel cyclist who won. Rodrigues was our best rider today around the 50th position. A classification isn’t possible anymore, although our sponsor goal is Top-10. Maybe we can go for a stage victory, which will be difficult of course.

The mountain jersey may be a more realistic goal. But we’ll see. As long as we do better than last year, when we didn’t ride a noticeable result.

Today's Winner

Amgen Tour of California – Stage 2

Stage Preview

We already didn’t have any chance on a good GC so from now on it’s just attacking every stage! Well, we actually would’ve done that as well if we had a good classification.

Rodrigues’ mountain jersey is looking great! Unfortunately he can’t wear his Portuguese champion jersey, which he has to defend at the end of next month.

There was one mountain sprint and Rodrigues attacked to take the points. He now has 22 points and his lead is 16 points.

The breakaway included seven riders. It was an easy day for them, with one intermediate sprint and a lot of downhill.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%202/PCM1223_zpse9cb3b88.jpg

But there were two important falls during the stage. First it was André Greipel who fell. Almost his whole team waited for him, but Lotto-Belisol was the team who was closing the gap to the breakaway and now they stopped chasing. So Degenkolb’s Katusha had to do it alone. Meanwhile the number three in the classification, Lieuwe Westra, fell as well. His teammate Kris Boeckmans waited for him and they came back in the peloton. Something Greipel failed to do.

Because Greipel’s team didn’t help chasing the breakaway there were several attacks at the front. Rodrigues tried to escape but he failed. The breakaway was riding for the stage victory.

It looked like Vansummeren would take the victory, but finally it was Taaramäe who outsprinted him! Rodrigues finished in the second group, around half a minute behind the first group. Amador took over the leader jersey from Samuel Sánchez.

Rodrigues increased his lead in the mountain classification. It’d be great if we can go for the win in this classification.

Amgen Tour of California – Stage 3

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage3_zpsf6964be2.jpg

An almost completely flat stage was the program for today. We wanted to give Rodrigues some rest so we sent Chapman into the breakaway. You haven’t heard his name a lot, but don’t forget it! He’s a bit a shy guy and he doesn’t like much attraction, but he’s very talented.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%203/PCM1227_zps7a00d3ff.jpg

So he was one of the thirteen cyclists in the breakaway from today. It was a quiet day. Chapman won two intermediate sprints and there wasn’t anything else happening.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%203/PCM1228_zpsc98bd1bf.jpg

Today Greipel managed to stay on his bike and his team was working hard for him. Within the final kilometres there was a mass crash where around hundred riders were involved in. Fortunately none of them was from us.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Amgen%20Tour%20of%20California/Stage%203/PCM1229_zpsc38d659d.jpg

Greipel finished the team’s work and won the stage. Rojas finished in 2nd and because of the bonification seconds he took over the leader jersey. Three leaders in three days, that predicts something nice for tomorrow, when we have another hilly stage.

Of course Rodrigues is still leading the mountain classification.

Today's Winner
