Random question: Has anyone ever gotten a medal in the worlds in more than 3 consecutive years?
In fact, has anyone other than Argentin gotten 3?

Freire did that in ´99,´00 and ´01.

2000 was Vainsteins, if I can remember correctly.

We're talking about getting medals, not winning
Nobody's ever won 3 years in a row
(Unless you count time trials, but I'm only interested in road races)

Bagh, just noticed it.
Then yes to that, Freire was third in 2000.

I've been watching worlds finishes on youtube. The italian team at the 2002 worlds wins the award for best leadout of all time hands down. Their sprinter could've been Ivan Basso and he still would've won.
(Then again when you have Petacchi and Lombardi doing a leadout that's bound to happen)

Denmark wants to host the Worlds again in approximately 10 years. That might be too late for Cavendish |

That plus McEwen and Zabel head butting each other, probably losing some nervous impulse in the middle of it. And Cippolini was definitely on something else all that season. |

Cavendish may not get another chance. I don't know what the terrain in Ponferrada in 2014 is like, but aside from that the earliest he might get a chance is 2016 (the city hasn't been announced yet)

The time trial climbs Alto del Morredero at the finish and so I think that they will probably do it also in road as well.

Are you sure? That thing is like 25kms long
EDIT: I still remember this
https://autobus.cy.../vuelta067
EDIT2: Yep, I see it mentioned in articles around the internet that the organizers want to finish the RR at the top of El Morredero
Contador World Champ?

Contador World Champ?
Contador double World Champ!
I think that they climb only the first part of it in the TT. Not sure if they will climb it entire in the RR.
EDIT: Nah, I was wrong.
La prueba constará de 39 kilómetros y los últimos nueve serán en subida hasta San Cristóbal de Valdueza.
That in english mean: The TT will have 39 kilometres and the final nine will be climbing San Cristóbal de Valdueza.
About the RR it will have an amount of 3.367 metres of desnivel (don´t really know how that is said in english)

WRT the Worlds returning to Denmark in some 10 years, I'll only say one thing: Vejle.
The ITT of the Ponferrada Worlds will end uphill yeah, so Contador is the ultra-mega-hyper-super favourite for that race. The RR will look pretty similar to this:
