Duque rules!!! He's a cool rider and he was definately the best of the group. Horrach was dead I think, you don't sit in the wheels for 4km with a sprinter in that group and do nothing. I think he was exhausted. But that's normal. Even Bertagnolli was dead! |

Horrach has to have been dead. he's a fast finisher but he simply had nothing left. so, it was up to Duque...
Bettini has to be pissed. he's been shying away from bunch sprints for several days now, so he won't have to retire with the jersey. seems he can't get rid of it though...

I don't think I explained myself well
what I mean is that he seems like he's looking to lose the jersey before he abandons so he won't have to abandon while wearing it (he's not taken part in sprints in stages where he said so himself he was feeling well).
but every day the sprinters that are near him in the points classification finish a bit back and don't get many points.

and it could change today. but it didn't. and it could have changed quite a few times before. but it didn't. that's my point. Bettini's not liking it

He'll just have to wear the jersey. What a burden. |

Well, after his stage win on Paris - Nice, he was very serious about being part of squad on some of grand tours. But I didn't really consider about today's winning. In fact my favourite was Bertagnolli, Korff or Duque.
I think it was really great win by Duque, he was pushing on to the victory since the group of those three was made, so in words of PCM 2006 commentator: It was very well deseved.

Yeh very good win, definatly deserved. He was fighting strong in the main bunch sprints too so this was a good result for him |

He still had that energy after attacking 3kms to go, that looked like he used alot of effort, but obviously not enough

He was also the strongest on those little climbs in the final, when Horrach attacked Duque easily countered and past him.
Don't forget Duque had some top 30 finishes in the mountains in some smaller Tours earlier this year. The guy can climb if he wants too. |

and in the younger categories he was known as completely dominant on the cobbles. basically he could be one heck of a cobble rider. just one problem:
he makes a point of never riding any cobble races anymore. he hates them

Yup true, Duque is really an Northern classics rider. But you're wrong about him hating those. He loves to ride them. Sisse (of PPDB) sometimes talks and trains with him.

Yeah, because the stories Sisse told me about Duque don't quite correspond, and he's relatively close to Duque, being one of his first training partners in Europe and all. |
