Not a great stage for Cannondale.
Nice to see BMC back to their usual self with an 11th place. |

I... I'm not sure what I should say... it appears Farrar just got himself a surprising contract extension!

Am I missing something here? Maybe Baseballlover has infiltrated the game? Farrar is not this good.
And well done Thor, deliberately dropping back to pick out 11th place. Wonderful.

Cottonwood Pass and Independece Pass will surely make this an interesting stage of great significance to the GC.
Several riders have saved up a good bit of energy for today and are off right from the start.
Break of the day is a trio consisting of Friedeman (CSS), Benedetti (TNE) and Wallays (TSV).
Friedeman happens to cross the intermediate sprint first, but I doubt anyone actually noticed.
Benedetti is on the prowl for mountain points and attacks 2 km from the cat. 3 sprint.
Friedeman got the max points and Wallays got dropped.
A wide range of teams are working in the peloton. If you can call giving the break a 10+ min gap before the first real climb working.
Friedeman opens the attacking closing on the summit of Cottonwood Pass. He has golden legs and is first across the summit followed by Benedetti while the Belgian manages to hang on this time.
The gap remains at 10 minutes.
Friedeman outsprints the others and takes the intermediate sprint as well. The gap is now down to 7’30.
70 km to go and 5 minutes.
BMC and especially Garmin are working hard to reel in the break.
At the foot of Independence Pass Andy Schleck sees De Maar go away and decides to go after him. Soon after Chalapud (COL) joins the two.
The chasing trio catches the front trio with 3,5 km to the top and 2’44 to the peloton.
Towards the summit it becomes clear that the original trio is getting tired and Andy wants to prove himself by being first to start going down the mountain.
The peloton crosses the summit 1’45 later, but Wallays remains the provisional GC lead while the 6 breakers are quickly reunited.
7 km from the finish line and De Maar goes solo as the gap is down to just over a minute.
It’s Garmin doing ALL the work at this point despite BMC looking to lose the GC lead.
Wallays has a superior sprint to the others in his group.
Too late to catch De Maar though…
A slightly silly sprint in the peloton with no sprinters taking part.
Schroder takes it and Topsport Vlaanderen gets 2 riders in the top 10. A good result for the small team.
Especially since Wallays takes over the GC lead thanks to BMC not bothering to chase.

On another note:
The delayed reports is due to me having a bit lacking internet at the moment. Would you prefer some detailed text reports with only very few reports in stead as that would mean that you would actually get them a lot faster?

Fast reports, I'm sure that no one is too fussed with the race but the reports and results are enjoyable. |

Seriously?
So, in every race this year, all of the GC guys have attacked together to distance the rest on the final climb. Except for when BMC have the best climber in the race of course. I fucking hate this AI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a funnier note, Garmin with 7 in the top 22 and none in the top 10 is some sort of record.

Great ride by Andy there, he could take the GC from here after that late attack. The top 10 goal looks well in reach.
Atlantius- Yeah, I think Ollfardh would prefer the reports at a quicker pace rather than one report a week. |

Actually, I'm fine either way. Atlantius's next race to report is Hainan, all the way at the end of the season, so no rush there.
And good that De Maar takes another win, it has been too long
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

What I think is happening here is that Garmin are strong enough to keep a pace that discourages attacks but no one (I'm looking at you BMC!) wants to either finish the job or make sure that the break doesn't get 10+ minutes to begin with.
Anyway I think I'll make the upcoming TT pretty much without pictures as it would be pretty much the same pics as in the prologue and the uploading part is where I'm challenged a bit.
Personally I'd prefer to make detailed text based reports to get the race done rather than keep having it over my head.

Ok, that's fine by me, especially the time trial for the reasons you mention.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Daily Mail - Adrien Hanzen As a little extra we have gotten in touch with Adrien Hanzen from our one and only Team Sky! He comes to Britain after a long and difficult season and he is the favorite to get the Points Jersey, this is how he answered the questions
Welcome Home! You've traveled the world for a year now and how is it to be back on known grounds ?
Well i only lived in the UK from the age of 17 so it's not as homely to me as some of the other Sky lads. That said i do call it home and getting onto those roads is exciting. We do get to go over some of the Surrey roads i know best but whether that gives me an advantage we'll only find out on the day
What are your expectations for this Tour of Britain, from the outside your only big opponent will be Tyler Farrar, and how do you feel about this matchup ?
The problem comes in balancing our goals as a team. I've made it known that i feel Sky has focused on GC over me too often. On home turf i cannot hold a similar call against them, but in such a weak sprint field i am desperate for some proper help. I've shown my speed and to win in the UK would be an almost perfect cap to the year.
Are there a specific stage you think that fits your abilities the most or are they all acceptable and possible stage wins?
I'm looking forward to every stage. I know i can survive hills, and i've proved that, and that i can finish fast, also proven. The Surrey stage could be the best chance late on, as could the opening stage in Scotland. It's a lumpy finish which should suit me perfectly. Let's not mention the time trial.
It's not a secret that your leaving Sky, how has this season been ?
The season has been very successful for both myself and the team. They helped me make history at the Giro and have given me a nice handful of race wins, but as much i have felt almost ignored. This is a team for stage racers and the GC and it's not somewhere i can reach my full potential. I'd like to think the split is amicable and i hope we can maintain a strong relationship, i know i will do so with many of the riders.
One last question and this is the most obvious one, Are you ready to go for the win ?
As always!

Good preview, even though I have no interest in this race myself
Rider rankings:
Sagan stays on top, Froome comes close, but I don't see where he can pick up the last points anymore. Brouwer becomes the highest EPIC rider, overtaking Kim (who has Pologne and USAPCC in progress). Ghita and Hanzen enter the top 50 as well, though Hanzen is clearly no match for Brouwer.

Team rankings:
Sky is out of reach for number 1. Movistar holds a good gap over Belkin, who in turn have a good gap over Omega Pharma. BMC is really close to the 4th spot, but they have to watch out for Astana behind them as well. Radioshacks jumps over Saxo and Europcar and even comes close to Team Sagan. Argos looks safe at the moment after a great Vuelta, it looks like it'll be between Orica, AG2R and Euskaltel, with the Basques facing a 200 points gap to safety.
Champion System is safely cruising towards the end of the season. Poor management from other teams will give them a good budget next year. MTN and NetApp benefit from a good Vuelta and stay in the fight for the top CT spots.

Well, this is all jolly exciting, isn't it?
Not sure about some guy called Henoa being a bigger favourite than Gilbert in a Belgian hilly race but okay, hopefully he gets another win.
No BMC in Britain (thank the Lord) so I get to enjoy the biggest race on the calendar as a neutral.
I shall be rooting for Burton, Walker and Hanzen of course.
A bit disappointed with those rankings tbh. Just shows how poor our Vuelta was. I was hoping to be a lot closer to Belkin.
And Astana can piss off. WADA is coming for you boys.

Sagan just needs to get a few good results in the remaining Italian classics and he'll win the rider ranking.
No interest in Wallonie and ToB, but will be cheering for Josh, although I doubt he will be able do much more than joining breaks. |

Great preview, turns out it was a good move coming to Britain as we bring one of the top 3 strongest squads. But can we complete our medium countered goal of a stage win? |

Just catching up now with all the racing. phew.
Well done, guys Some stunning reports throughout the last pages.
About Plouay: Thanks, guys! Much appreciated. Though the 59th place for Kakhi doesn't relly justify that..
On USAPCC: Before the race started, I thought it would be JJs chance to lead. But Friedemann somehow made himself a good call for the GC now
The last stage of Pologne was kinda weird, wasn't it? Definetely nothing for Farrar - or am I the only one?
I like the idea of making the report even more realistic. thumbs up. If you can make it work all around, it oculd be a big pleasure for all of us.
