Spoiler So, in the past weeks I played some races and enjoyed doing little write-ups. Reports will probably be significantly shorter, but we'll see.
World Cup Tabor
Tabor in Czech Republic was last year host of the World Championships, this year it returned to the World Cup calendar of racing. Different to last year, a solo effort prevailed to the finish, as Tom Meeussen broke away and snatched his first win in quite some time.
I myself struggled a bit early on and had trouble keeping the pace of most rivals. As a result, I lost position over position right from the start, but I recovered and turned a huge gear to come back for a solid 7th place. I reached the finish alone and it was a good day’s work out. Showed me though that I’m not quite there where I hoped I’d be after Ruddervoorde.

World Cup Plzen
Alaphilippe wins super-fast Plzen edition
There was no kidding around this time, I can promise you that. Julien Alaphilippe from Omega Pharma pushed right into the pitch, and there he was, gone, straight out of the nest – he flew off, into an adventure of his own.
I don’t get how he did it but this was by far the most impressive feat in racing I have seen in a very, very long time. The young french pushed right there and we were all left chasing. It turned into a survival of the fittest with a high pace over crazy steep hills. Warm and fine conditions caused a peak in our motivation.
I formed a group with Nys, Walsleben and Tabor’s winner Meeusen, and we looked certain to get away. Alas, we were caught, but that didn’t stop Nys and me to try it again. And as we pushed on, we saw Alaphilippe again and again… putting time into us. He was flying there away, and we were left to chase the chrumps.
At one point, Van der Haar and Mourey came up to us in one of the last laps. Nys and I looked at each other, we had done a solid run ourselves. I was finished at that point, could only hang onto the wheels. The track was fine and solid and felt like racing on a road. In the last hundred meters, neither Mourey nor I managed to react on Nys and Van der Haar’s finish.
As I reached the finish myself on fifth place, I noticed Alaphilippe already giving interviews. I congratulated him later, what a talent he is. But here I scored points once again, it’s getting worthwhile. And I looked at the score later, and noticed how only a pestering amount of 19 riders finished the race. We had left an aisle of destruction behind us.

Visconti: First Team, then a Nationality change
For many people over night came the news that Raphael Visconti declared his transfer from Citigroup – Cannondale to IAM Cycling. His old team has recently signed Philippe Gilbert and with Moreno Moser’s popularity, there has been little breathing room for the talents of Visconti. This move follows an suspension of Visconti, which left the Italian seemingly troubled.
Remembering San Sebastian: Visconti rose to new, yet unknown heights that day.
The move however may come sudden since Visconti has signed a multiple year deal. But tensions within the team has lead to this conclusion. IAM Cycling boss Michel Thétaz has bought Visconti himself out of the contract with Citigroup – Cannondale, stating Visconti’s great performances as reason for his action. IAM Cycling has managed to get into the World Tour this season, however the team is worried about its weakness and the immediate relegation after just one season. A real win-win situation for both, Thétaz stated.
Visconti will get a leading position at IAM Cycling in return. With a full packed season from January to December, the Cyclocross & Classic Specialist looks forward to a couple of dozen races.
Additionally to his late team transfer, Visconti has also declared to be riding for Austria – his mother’s birthplace - come 2016.
Visconti is allowed to ride in his Cannondale Italian NC jersey until 31st December, yet all racing cost will be covered by himself. Afterwards it is yet unknown how his new team will fare with Visconti's passion for the mud.

Thank you very much mate, that's lovely to hear and I truly appreciate it. I'll try to give you many reasons to log in now and then into Daily, though I think the pace will be slower than in the past.

Bpost Bank Trophy Koppenberg
10 times riding Koppenberg is always a highlight for the early CX season. You feel the excitement already at the start, especially when a 12 men group just comes past you, truly rushing into the Koppenberg and you’re left wondering if you are meant to follow already?
But I raced the Koppenberg a couple of dozen times by now, I know how it needs to be done. I believe, at least. So, yeah… I follow. You can’t just let people get away when you’re racing here. Nys and Pauwels were with me too.
After the initial splits, the race got calmer. We took the Koppenberg in our little group several times, Belgians were cheering me on. I heard some Boo’s elsewhere. Must have been Italians. After the 6th time up the Koppenberg, some riders couldn’t hold Nys’ wheel any longer. I was one of the few fortunate ones to keep his insane pace. In my mind, I had already lost the race to Nys.
My body was being tortured once more by the cobblestones, the fight for survival was announced as every year. Pauwels and Meeusen managed to come back, I was fairly at my limit when we hit the Koppenberg for the second last time. With many overtaken riders up the road, I had to search my way through… the sidelines were no longer safe for me so I tried to take the Koppenberg by brute force – and wasted much energy and reserves in the process.
I wanted to avoid the mistake in the next lap. In the downhill, I kept myself near the front and then made a move at the finish line. In that way, I was the first rider to hit the Koppenberg, going all in. I had the good road for me. Yet I was nervous alright at that point and fairly on my limit. I looked mostly to the floor, just hoping no other wheel would pass me. When I heard the Belgian crowd increasing their noise almost the double, I looked to my left and saw Nys attacking. Race over for me. Hitting the wall.
Nys destroyed us there in the last time riding Kopenberg. I came home 6th, way too exhausted at the finish. Someone wanted to an interview, all I could do was breathe into the microphone heavy and out of breath. 17 riders finished the race. Air was getting thin at the top.
