Yes, and it's Pietor Furan, not Pieter Furan.
Nice reports, shame he went a bit too early, but i didn't expect the win.

I have a win, I have a win, I have a win Banana !
Napolitano is a good sprinter, but I don't have a decent leading train for him, at least for this race.

Come on Po-ding, give me a good time trial!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Can Po-ding kim overhaul a 20 second deficient?

It's Costa he's worried about Wink

knockout
Absolutely, Kim is now the favourite ahead of Costa and Spilak. Also, I expect Amador in the Top5...

Top 5
i39.tinypic.com/245c83t.png
Costa sets off the top 5 show down, it all comes down to this.

Earlier in the day
i42.tinypic.com/105yuqo.png
Malori (LAM) sets the best time at the halfway check point. He clocks 24'40" and then takes the fast time of the course of 53'12.

Armador (MOV) sets the best time of course of 52'34", it's going to take some beating, he looks like he may be heading for a top 5.

Back to Costa
i42.tinypic.com/15zqouu.png
Big news, Costa betters his teammates time by 24 seconds at the time check.
Po-ding Kim sets off

New fastest time at time check
i41.tinypic.com/jfx8qq.png
Kim shows how powerful he is and takes the best time by 18 seconds off Costa, he starts his second leg. Henao (SKY) sets off.

Not a day for Sky
i39.tinypic.com/2808pau.png
Henao is .52" off Po-ding's time at the first check, it probably won't be top sport for him today

Costa finishes with the fastest time of the day! Po-ding comes in next... while Spilak sets off.

Yellow Jersey
i39.tinypic.com/qxm9dt.png
Spilak crosses the time check 36" behind Kim, he's having a bad day, its Kim's too lose now!

Fast time
i42.tinypic.com/1zqsjkg.png
Kim beats Costa by 23 seconds, only Spilak (KAT) can deny him now!

Henao
i43.tinypic.com/11tx7aq.png
He crosses the line for a solid top 5 GC finish.

i40.tinypic.com/15ez4hg.png
Pellizotti (AND) finishes more than 2 minutes behind Kim's time, he will drop down the GC

Spilak crosses the line...
He can only get 4th, +57 on Po-Ding Kim's time!

Po-Ding Kim (EUC) wins Volta ao Algarve

Podium

Le Tour de Langkawi Stage 9

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0009_zpsd5fbdb70.jpg

Favourites: Brookes (BAR), Guardini (AST), Howard (OGE), D.Van Poppel (VCD), Kruopis (OGE)
Outsiders: Alinejad (RLT), Porsev (KAT), B.Van Poppel (VCD), Vantomme (CRE), Siskevicius (SOJ)

Weather: 28°, sunny. Light breeze.

The penultimate stage is completely flat (there's a surprise), so the sprinters' teams have to work harder to bring the breakaway back. Otherwise, they're going to have some very angry sprinters on their hands!

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0001_zpscb9bc775.jpg

117 km to go: As with most days, the breakaway formed very early, though surprisingly, only four go for it. With the amount of breakaway wins, you would think everyone would try to go on the attack! The quartet are De Mesmaeker (TNN), Lequatre (BSE), Hovelynck (CRE) and Thomson (MTN).

102 km: The order at the first sprint is Thomson, De Mesmaeker, Lequatre. The peloton is already four minutes behind, despite only beong 20 km into the stage.

65 km: Hovelynck leads through the second sprint, ahead of Thomson and De Mesmaeker. Six minutes behind, UHC lead the peloton but there is no real pace in it yet. What will the sprinters' teams try today to ensure a bunch sprint?

63 km: Well, almost straight after the sprint, UHC really pick the pace up and begin to catch the four leaders. Why? The most dangerous rider for De Maar is Lequatre, who is 12'18" down. Surely it should be left to the sprinters' teams?

37 km: As the escapees roll through the sprint, Thomson leading De Mesmaeker and Lequatre, the peloton are 3'40 behind. Still, just three UHC riders on the front. What is going on here in Malaysia?

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0002_zpsbf6a7d70.jpg

32 km: And finally, as if someone has flicked a switch, Meier (OGE) comes to the front. Who else? The Canadian has been an absolute beast this week. He sets a reasonable pace of 60kph!! Surely, the breakaway can't resist this but Meier needs some help.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0003_zpsbe5446b9.jpg

11 km: As usual, nothing much happens for a while, the peloton slowly reducing the advantage. But then, with just over ten kilometres to go, De Mesmaeker and Thomson go on the attack, with Hovelynck and Lequatre choosing to stay together. The peloton is still 1'30 back and all of the big guys are on the front now.

7 km: The four leaders are all back together, so Hovelynck and Lequatre are looking good. They are also the two quickest sprinters in the group, hence why the other two attacked.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0004_zpsbb44d960.jpg

4 km: But De Mesmaeker is not done yet and goes again. Thomson really has got his tactics wrong here as he uses what energy he has left to try to bring the Belgian back, giving the other two a free ride. The bunch is still doing more than 60kph but can't make the catch. Still 1'10 behind, so the breakaway will take it again!

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0005_zpsebf772fc.jpg

2 km: De Mesmaeker has a small advantage on the other three but that's only because Thomson has run out of legs to catch him. Surely, the other two have to go soon or they won't catch him. The South African has really failed today and you can already see a sense of disappointment on his face.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0006_zpsfb89f256.jpg

1 km to go: You don't see this often, as a Novo Nordisk rider has the lead under the flamme rouge. This would be a huge win for the team. Hovelynck and Lequatre are coming though, the Frenchman seeming to have the legs on the Belgian. OGE are once again at the head of the bunch but it's too little, too late. Nobody seems to have told O'Callaghan (BAR), who is clocked at 75kph as he tries to get Brookes to the front!

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/EPIC%20Langkawi/PCM0007_zps5770dace.jpg

FINISH: Lequatre flies past DeMesmaeker in the last 100 metres. What a huge shame for him and the team but second place is a great consolation. Hovelynck takes third with Thomson fourth. Once again, Guardini wins the sprint when it doesn't matter, ahead of Brookes and Howard. One stage to go. Can we get a bunch sprint to finish the race off?

Another Bretagne win, odd Grin

And go Po-ding, you did it!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

The Rider
It looks like RadioShack are going to miss out on the EASY OBJECTIVE by missing out on a stage win despite Alinejad and his multiple podium finishes. Sad

Am I banished from the game now.... Sad

Hell yeah Po-Ding, you're awesome!

Langkawi is turning out to be a weird race. Not sure why not all teams just send someone in the breakaway. Pfft

Po-ding winning Volta ao Algarve isn't really a surprise, since he was the strongest rider there.

Di Silvestro with a top 10 is awesome, since it was the only reason he went to Portugal. Pfft

krisa
Nice 2nd place for Furan

The Hobbit
Cool, Tom, you're a beast, if only the rest of the team worked that hard, how can anyone go that fast, surely that's just ridiculous, well done, rest of the team, you're all fired...

O'Callaghan being awesome! Banana
And Lué would like to congratulate Po-ding on his great win in Algarve. Smile

Good work, team Movistar !
Places 2,5,9 in GC + 2 guys on podium on stage 4 bring us the first big points and my easy sponsorgoal.

Well done! Grin
