We just had the hottest 22nd October ever recorded here, with places with 24° C. But in the weekend the expect the temperatures to drop below zero
I never realised how different Australian and European weather really is. Thats usually normal for Autumn where I live.

Wow, thats pretty early.
Well ok, I guess that's normal in Norway.
In the Netherlands there is maybe 2-3 weeks snow a year, and thats it.
Snow is pretty fun actually, but I guess it isn't if you have snow half a year...

It's not early, the winter in 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 was earlier. And for snow being fun no it isn't, not when you have 250 cm snow walls you have to showel away. |

We in the Netherlands all dream of that
When there is snow here, it's often under 5cm.

Yeah indeed, We have just a few days, sometimes maybe 4/5 days, with a big amount of snow. Well... 20/30 cm is a big amount in the Netherlands.
Well, its too flat to ski here anyway
250 cm snow walls, thats indeed really much, I admit, that could be really annoying...

Looks like Netherlands is a better place to be in the winter.

Schools and Colleges close when there's 5 cm?
Sounds amazing!!
But seriously, thats really unnecessary...
Why do they do that? Well, I guess it doesn't snow that much in Ireland, but still...

It was the same here. I used to miss 2 or 3 days of school every Winter when I was in middle school. The school was only 7 km away, but either they'd give lectures to every one, either to no one. So as the bus couldn't pass in some places, we stayed home.
I'd hate it to happen now that I work though, that'd mean I'd have to use one day of holiday. |

The best thing about Youtube is how you can find whole TV-shows there. Just finished watching all the seasons of Mock The Week
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

As I said, we are in the directly situateed in the gulf stream. And thats why we are prepared for Jack shit...
Though it was pretty funny, when they started buying salt like crazy, after a harsh winter, 3 years ago and no snow came the year after. With the finance crisis and the dictations by the EU, we had to sell it all back to Germany and under new restrictions, we are not allowed to buy any machinery and only a certain amount of salt to ease the chaos. In short: If it snows this winter Ill be sitting at home, waiting for either a sudden heat wave or for a clear runaway at dublin airport, so that I can go and visit "mi familia" in Germany...

Hey, we're being gently stroked by the Gulf Stream too, but it doesn't do wonders for the temperatures, though
Here the most recent record is from 2008, I think. There was about 3 meters of snow downtown.

Well, we are right in the center of stream motions, Norway on the other hand is only on the edge of it... (sorry I could describe it in Geographical terms, but then hardly anyone would understand it. Probably me neither and i study the stuff... ).
Thats why we get consistent temperatures throughout the year (rainy summers, rainy winters)... At least thats the theory!

Seems like I'm going to get my first 5 star hotel experience
Travelling to London on Monday to cover Acer's presentation of Windows 8 products, and it appears they've booked us at St Martin's Lane.
No complaints from me, that's for sure. |
