Löfkvist is no 3-week stage racer and never will be, his recuperation is awful.
And prediciting Contador would finish 4th behind a guy like Nibali is pretty laughable anyhow.
Nibali showed in the last mountain stages he is not really that good of a climber. He's extreme consistency is what keeps him up so high in the GC. But there are at least 4 better pure climbers in this Giro alone... But they all had bad days, Nibali doesn't (or doesn't crack completely), that's the difference. Consistency.

When was Contador's bad day?

I agree that Löfkvist should aim for the one-week races instead.
But look what I also wrote about Nibali:

I don't have any good explaination why I think so, but I'm going for Scarponi to win. He has been looking good this season and I think he will be even better than last year here.
Anton will be the only one that can follow Scarponi in the mountains, but loses too much time to Scarponi in the TT. He still manages to finish second, less than a minute behind Scarponi.
Nibali will ride consistant through the whole Giro, but can't really follow Anton and Scarponi in the mountains, which costs him the Giro title. He manages to grab the last podium spot thanks to his consistency.

Zoncolan. But he wasn't comparing Nibbles with Contador. Contador was in a league of his own.
My feeling from this tour is Nibali really struggles on the long days, as such, I suspect he is perfect for the Vuelta, although obviously, I Giro with a few downhill finishes would still be very good for him

Nibali did what he always do.
Ruben is correct this time..Consistency. Basso style rider..diesel..plus he is exelent descender.
Best comes out in short and super hard stages..Zoncolan.
Scarponi made a few mistakes, when he did go with Contador..but he made it in overall 2nd. what was max. anyway.
Dissapoitment perfomance list will be much longer..
should we add Kreuziger is dissapoitment list..or he is there where he is ? He is still young ofcorse. But he talks already as big man.

He is young as you said,in 5 years nobody ahead of him except Conta(maybe) will not be competing. And about that big man talk, yes he was talking about podium, but in the end he nearly reach it as i find Contador and Gadret very suspicious. To sum it up,i hoped for little bit more, but i am not dissapointed at the end
He hasn't improved much if you compare this result with his results a couple of years ago. I think this is his top and yes, I think that's dissapointing.

That is your point of view,i think move from GT late top10 to GTlate top5 (one of the hardest in new era,Contador not counted) is definetely an improvement

Yes, the Spanish fascist anthem. lol
At least it has no lyrics (has it ?), so, in a way, it's not as bad as the French national anthem.
I thought the French anthem was about breaking free of an oppressive monarchy (correct me if i'm wrong, my history isn't brilliant). Better than our athem about bowing down to incestuous nazi robber barons
This is getting off topic, and if anyone minds, we'll continue this elsewhere...
Actually, the monarchy was in trouble but still on, although the king had little power left, when the anthem was written. Other monarchies, like the Austrians (remember the queen was born Austrian), the Prussians, and a couple of others if memory serves, had bunched and decided to attack France to re-instate the power of the king. So the song is about spilling foreigners' guts here and there, with their impure blood, and other gentle stuff like that.
Very suited to be played in front of people from other nationalities.
