He(Rolland) looks to be suffering on the steep gradients, so maybe he'll lose time to guys like Pozzovivo on Zoncolan.

I'm glad that I was wrong btw. Kelderman seems to be really improved in the mountains.

Evans is still the big card imo and hopefully were gonna see his insane strength when they hit more mountains
Like last year where he cracked in the Mountain Stages that were riden??? He only mange to stay in the Podium beacuse 1 Mountain Stage was canceled and another one was softpedaled IIRC otherwise he would have ended up in 5 or 6 place. Looks like some fanboys allready forgot last year Giro
I called it that Evans would start losing time as soon as they hit the Mountains now he will be lucky if he finish in the Top 5.
I wonder where are the Evans Fanboys now and where is his insane strengh in the mountains and insane 3 week recuperation that he was going to show... Still 3 Mountain Stages to go... and place 5 is only 7 seconds away and plac 9 only 1 at this rate he will be lucky if he stays in the top 10
There is not so many Evans fanboys as I can see...Honestly I expect that he wont be able to follow in high mountains stages...And dont forget that he is 37 years old fighter and probably his recovery will never be again as good as used to be...Despite that he is riding a good Giro considering all this facts (mainly age)..We will see where will be Nairo, Majka or Aru at the age of 37...
P.S. I would say Evans could win TDF more than once, if he had not so much badluck and If the peleton in his best years would have been cleaner.. He is one of the cleanest cyclists ever despite that he was riding in such a dirty peleton...Please show some respect to him I think he is definitely worth of it....
I dont know about that but I dont want to start an argument.

Too bad for Evans. Seems like he'll finnish ninth for me. 55 seconds isn't that much. |

Majka about the Quintana's attack:
We all stopped at the top, because by the radio we were informed that the downhill is to be neutralized due to snowfall . So we dressed up so as not to get sick during the cold junction. In the meantime , however, Quintana , Hesjedal and Rolland , went away and did 2.5 minutes difference on downhill. Race was to begin after the Stelvio downhill , and in the meantime the rules were not the same for everyone. Lot of teams , including of course Tinkoff - Saxo , made a protest to the organizers. 'll see what happens , but either way I still want to prove that the Giro is not over for me !

Uhm... I like Tinkoff - Saxo but they should spent less time on twitter. Especially with the big boss on the backseat himself, who's famous for his twitter ramblings.
I also don't remember seeing all too many riders stopping, though there certainly were some. Especially guys from Movistar. I remember Tinkoff - Saxo paced up the Stelvio though so they should have had a good picture of what was going on - but sorta still misunderstood.
https://velonews.c...puepO6K.99
“There was never discussion of neutralizing the descent,” Vegni said on RAI after the stage. “With about three or four kilometers from the top of the Stelvio, a message went out on race radio advising about the danger of the descent. We said there would be a motorcycle with a red flag to lead the peloton down the upper switchbacks, but there was never a mention of neutralizing the descent.”
Vegni also said no sport director contacted any Giro officials or UCI commissaires indicating possible confusion, adding that, “sport directors know only to listen to race radio, not follow what is said on Twitter.”
Gianni Savio, manager of Androni, told VeloNews the message was crystal clear on race radio.
“There was never any confusion. None,” Savio said. “They said a motorcycle would indicate if there was dangers on the descent with a red flag, but never, never, was there a mention of neutralizing the descent.”
Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2r-La Mondiale) also said there was no confusion in the peloton: “What neutralization? I went down as fast as I could.”

And some guys keep on whining about Evans stage 7 ride with pink jersey guy and team.
Wake up..there was nothing wrong there. If Majka theory is true this really sucks and has ruined this giro completely . As much a like modest Quintana..there is now one screaming now that he should have waited..fuck you Q....na I hope you brake your leg etc. etc.
So..who is fanboy now? |

Quintana insisted he was following attacks from Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp) and Pierre Rolland (Europcar) coming off the Stelvio.
“I don’t understand why there is a polemic,” Quintana said. “I never received an order from the organization or my team about a neutralization. And we made up the decisive difference on the climb, not on the descent.”
Pretty obvious that Quintana must have just thought that they are blazing down the descent, whilst others wanted to take it slow. Keep in mind that the view was horrible, snow everywhere and you couldn't see shit. There were motorists waving flags for the riders, so they could ride downhill. I don't think this is really comparable to the mass crash of stage 7, where most of the peloton was held up or crashed. In Quintana's eyes this must have been a simple choice of risk vs. reward, and he was the only one next to Hesjedal and Rolland, who was willing to take the risk.

Kelderman should have attacked earlier with Quintana or just earlier before the finish.

I think u should inform u better. Evans and clean no way. Ask doctor Ferrari...
I used to respect him but after this giro I lost every sympathy for the Guy. At Stage 6 he forgot how in 2012 iirc he had 2 punctures and the race leader at the moment decided to wait for him.
Then he was saying to the press he was expecting more from Quintana and he thinks Quintana is not as strong as people said before any real mountain stage was ridden.
I never imagined he was so arrogant and such a d***
Now he must be feeling like:

To me it looked like he did a perfect attack, if there was 1km more of climbing he would have gotten caught by Pozzo and Aru i think. Well timed attack for me. |

To me it seems like the only ones who fucked up today were the riders and teams who perhaps jumped to conclusions and thought it was neutralized. Serves them right.
And this talk of protesting to the organizers and calling in lawyers, what do they think is going to happen? That the organizers give Quintana the same time as the rest of the guys? Jeez.
Thank God Andy Schleck isn't in the Giro, he would have gotten his fallopian tubes tied in a knot.

Funny how every one is complaining on Twitter while it doesn't help at all. If you feel your life is in danger, just quit the race. Organisations can't force you to risk your life. If they don't protect you, then protect yourself. |

It wasn't even dangerous today, it was cold and unpleasant sure, but not dangerous. |
