Well what's dislikeable about Froome's racing style... especially today, attacking the eventual winner straight after coming from 20 seconds back, with 1 and a half GTs in his legs?
Some people like to overact with everything related to Sky.
Well i suppose he was beaten by at least two previously banned riders, who may be at it again |

I hope this entire post is ironic.
De Gendt did two grand tours in his cycling career. Two. He ended on the podium on the only one of the two he started with modest GC ambitions. Conclusion: no conclusions possible yet on De Gendt. Comparing him with GT contenders is guesswork and personal interpretation.
The end.
you know there is only 5months age difference between them?
but as i said you cant compare them, neither has hit what they are capable of
the fact that Gesink has all those results at a very similar age says a lot though.
Both are leaders here. The better rider, is the one that does better, is that acceptable.
If you cant draw conclusions on a 25yearold in his 4th pro season then when can you?
I'll end my argument with one name: Joaquim Rodriguez.
You need time to compare. If you don't understand now, you'll never understand. |

It doesn't have to do with overreacting. My opinion is that Sky is a prime symbol for effective yet boring racing. I don't like Contador, but atleast he provides some action.
Sky is way to "mechanical" for my taste.
Edit: But lets not make this into a new argument a'la "Sky vs. the World". My only point was that when the attacks come, the Froomebot shuts down.

Froome = Sky ?
Saxo "mechinically" peeled everyone off the back of the bunch today for Bertie anyway. Not that I like Sky in any case.

I mostly agree. But today Froome did a gutsy ride (too gutsy, it caused him to lose more than he would have lost if he had kept his tempo), and I don't know what's bad in aknowledging that. If it was Contador doing it many people would be creaming.
Plus, I said overact, because I know in many cases people, deep inside, know that aren't serious. It work both ways as well, for Sky fans.

Was out all day celebrating GF's birthday, so missed all the action :/
Even though we mentioned yesterday that Rodriguez is stronger than ever, i am still Very surprised to see him hanging in there in the high mountains.
Indeed he is way more fresh than Valverde and Froomy.. And Contadors perfomances is very impressive when you consider he hasnt raced since february or something like that.
All credit goes to Rodriguez, but i cant help thinking that this years Vuelta is a bit circumstancial. Very tired opponents and Contador still trying to reach his former level.
The most surprising part is how close they still are. That is very promising for the next years GT's. If anyone is fit and in top form next year, then it could be the best TDF since 2003.
It is actually a long time ago since we have seen the strongest in the mountains winning with 1-2minutes like in the old days.
Very exciting and intense. Is there a link up already to watch the last climb ? |

Less doping I guess. And the vuelta stages aren't really built for huge gaps either.

It's funny you should say that,
I was watching it with Belgian commentators, and they constantly said: The Froomes
When Sky did something: Oh, the Froomes are closing the gap. |

Thanks.
Awesome action once again
However its pretty obv that Contador is suffering way more during these climbs compared to earlier. But thats because of his race break. Im 100 percent that at the next TDF Contador will be 100 percent back.
Its not a state secret that i really disliked the TDF because of Sky. But Sky has so many great riders that has the potential to be very entertaining. Its just their stupid Wiggins adapted tactics that is ruling on that team.
You can say what you want about Froome, but that attack today really showed some class, some character and a very flamboyant rebellious and anarchist guy with no real sense of tactics, just like in the TDF.
When he leaves Sky, im 100 percent that he will be loved and will be giving us many entertaining hours. Hes character is so weird that one can only end up loving him because he is so unorthodox.
That is probably the best word describing his riding - unorthodox.
Im very pleased.
Venga Contador, you need a half to a whole minut ! |

what about Purito?
He certainly didnt take long to show his potential, or reach a high level. Maybe as a GT rider yes, but mostly due to aiming for one-days rather than GT's.....
And obviously you need time to compare, thats why i said you cant compere them yet....

If people would've compared 25-year-old Purito with 25-year-old Gesink, many would also have concluded that "Gesink is 1000x better than Purito". |

almost..but do not forget that Clentie did not had any racing km at last 6 months on this season..this will leave a mark for shure
what the difference with Andy Schleck, No race between August and June, he start with Tour de suisse and finish with the TDF
Because Andy Schleck is known for his incredible track record of Tour de France victories.
And indeed for stage race victories. His fans are always proclaiming him to be an elite stage racer, and clearly the huge numbers of them he's won show that.
Fun fact: Mark Cavendish has won more stage races than Andy Schleck
EDIT: Sagan is an example simply because he's the benchmark for very young riders right now, no other reason.

This. You can't compare because people peak at different times.
That's why it's silly to say OMG SAGAN IS SO YOUNG. So many guys have been amazing at Sagan's age and were DONE by age 25.

I always prefer to cheer low burners..
and dont respect 18 year old superstar..at any sport.
Just rewatched last todays final 5km. Rafal Majka beat Gesink even after that effort what he did. Was pulling he's eyes out..
then droped back..then came back. at 3km to go mark..Contador pushed him from of him..moment later he sprinted. This is example how domestique can be star of the day. |
