What an incredible Giro this was! Amazing, it was intense the whole race long. Drama, happiness everything was present this race. Let's hear some comments from our main riders, who will tell their stories about the Giro.
First, the winner Kristjan Puskaric comes.
Oh my God... Is this real? Am I dreaming? I must be dreaming, because this is a dream coming true! I am so incredibly happy! I JUST WON THE GIRO!
First of all, a very, very big 'thank you!' to all of the guys that helped me achieve this; my family, because they always supported me, no matter how bad I was riding; I can always trust on them.
Also, I would like to thank Mate, our manager, who has made this all possible; he scouted me and gave me the opportunity to enter the world of professional cycling. And look where I am now!
Last of all, I would like to thank the team; they helped me so much. When I was involved in the big crash on stage 2, the whole team was there to help me, and to help me gain time back in the following stages, even when Jack [Wiles] was in the Maglia Rosa, everybody was still helping me, especially Erik [van den Meer], Dennis [Groen] and Bob [Bobson], who rode a very unnoticable Giro because they had to help me all the time.
Then I got those two stage wins: amazing. Wearing the Maglia Rosso felt great, it gave me more strenght.
Then came the final time trial. After the first two checkpoints, Mate, who was driving in the car behind me, said I was losing this Giro. I accelerated, I don't know where that power came from; perhaps it was because I was wearing the Maglia Rosa, or because I was so angry I was going to lose. The next thing I remember was crossing the line. I sat down, had no idea what my time was, and Mate came to me. He looked very sad...
Then he started laughing, and said:
"You did it! You've won the Giro!"
That was the happiest moment of my life!
I'll see you folks all tonight at the Spidertech party!
Jack Wiles also commented on the race, he was certainly happy with the team's performance.
I went in targeting the KoM and/or the White
We got off to a poor start in Denmark. But avoided the crashes which put us into a nice position heading into Italy. Oh and a podium
The TTT was great, managed to not lose the team Smile
Great to take the Rosa at the first summit finish! Really the best moment of my life so far. The team was great to get me there.
Stage 8 was my highlight. Just powering away from almost everyone was special. The fan support for the Rosa is amazing, no matter who is wearing it.
The high mountains towards the end... I dont go as well in the 3rd week as others, but i wasn't expecting to be in Rosa there. I would have prefered more freedom to attack, but as the Rosa i couldnt.
At least i hung onto the White in the end.
Thanks for joining us in this review, hope that you'll come back later too, for the other races of the year. |

@ste_18 - Thanks.
Criterium du Dauphiné Preview
Our squad here is not an overly strong one, despite that it's being led by Jakab and Sutton. Our riders, except for Nagy are all seriously out of form, I hope I didn't misplanned their form for the TDF.
Startlist:
GC
*** J-Rod, Nibali, Sánchez,
** Jakab, Vandenbroeck, Valverde
* F.Schleck, Voeckler, Peraud
Sprints
*** Edvald Boasson Hagen,
** Óscar Freire
* Elia Viviani |

Critérium du Dauphiné Stage 1
This years Dauphiné starts with a 5.3 km long prologue, to decide the first yellow wearer.
Our 2nd spider out there was Gary Sutton, who was a pre-race favourite and proved this, setting a good time only 3 seconds down the winner, Jens Voigt.
Vincenzo Nibali had a mediocre Giro, finishing 7th, but he seems to be in good shape before the TDF. He finishes just 4 seconds down on Voigt/EBH.
Our out of form star, Jakab did a great job limiting his losses, finishing 42nd, 18s down on the leaders.
After Jakab, the biggest GC-favourite, Purito was out, and he came in 132th, 32 seconds down on Voigt, who is going to wear the yellow tomorrow!

I guess Puskaric will be riding the Tour de Suisse and then TDF, or does he skip the Tour?

@Ian Butler,Miguel,Sutty,Jaxika - Thanks for your support! It's really appreciated!
@fcancellara - TdS and then the Tour. You're right.
Critérium du Dauphiné Stage 2
A bumpy stage, but overall it's classified as flat, a bunch sprint is likely to happen.
The break of the day, was a 5-men group, no real big names were present, the most prestigous was Nick Nuyens from Saxo. They got a 6 min gap soon, but Sky kept things close, and chased them down for EBH.
Sky made their train, it was a pretty good one, but FDJ's Ladagnous went early, and forced EBH to start his sprint earlier. The SpiderTech guys were upfront, and some of them decided to participate in the sprint.
Turning into the last kilometer Ladagnous still leads before EBH, and Jakab is also coming from the outside with Voigt. Can Ladagnous hold onto it?
Yes he can! Ladagnous went early and surprised the favourites! What a surprise! Jakab came in 2nd, barely beating EBH and Voigt.
