Great results, now Boom will try to win Enco Tour Smile

Martin really improved very well and there is still more to improve. Hope to hold contact with the best in the Giro with him next year. Then the time loss in the timetrial won`t be that hard.

Boom isn`t participating in the Eneco Tour. L.L. Sanchez and Bobridge will lead the squad and Rojas and Hunter for the sprints. But I don`t have big ambitions. It`s more a preparation for the Vuelta.

Yes,Cunego seems very strong at this momente..Martin is doing great, holding his 2nd..

Tour de Pologne - Stage 7
Nowy Targ - Krakow

Most important thing for us today is to keep the 2nd with Martin and avoid crashes or splits. If there is a mass sprint in the end, we want a 2nd stage win with Farrar to get the sprinter jersey.

img703.imageshack.us/img703/2480/pcm0014x.jpg
A bigger group attacked today. Cameron Meyer is one of them. We don`t need a sprint necessarily as Martin has one point more than Boonen and Farrar. Liquigas with Kump and Bodnar and RadioShack with Lequatre and Beppu might have an advantage with two guys there.

img33.imageshack.us/img33/3261/pcm0015q.jpg
Lampre for Cunego and Astana for Davis are doing the pace behind.

img222.imageshack.us/img222/4472/pcm0016f.jpg
Shocking moment for all riders. Westra felt by doing the pace directly in front of all overall guys. Luckily nobody crashed with him. Also good that he didn`t hurt too much. Therefore Julien El Fares had to abandon after a crash, who was on a good 16th in the overall.

img43.imageshack.us/img43/2742/pcm0018x.jpg
On the final circuit the group was caught again and we will see a mass sprint.

img26.imageshack.us/img26/8817/pcm0019.jpg
Farrar with a good position directly behind Boonen and ahead of Davis.

img404.imageshack.us/img404/4517/pcm0020c.jpg
Farrar wins his 2nd stage and wins the points ranking of this year`s Tour de Pologne. Daniel Martin becomes 2nd and surprisingly 4th of today`s stage. In the corner after the 1km mark the sprinters split and Martin was able to stay at Farrar`s wheel. Actually he just decided to sprint as Cunego also came to the front.

Tuco the Ugly
Wow, after not looking for a couple days, an entire GT posted!

Great Tour! Loved the pics, the writing, and the riding. Too bad you couldn't sneak Hesjedal in the top 10 or take green, but still, great results.

Like to see Tom Boonen back to his sprinting best as well. Keep it up.

Great win.Martin with a great 2nd.

It was the last stage, so secured, yes Grin

Next stage will be Vattenfall (Farrar), Eneco (Sanchez/Rojas) and GP Ouest France - Plouay (?probably Farrar, don`t know exactly what I planned in the beginning Smile)

Embarassed Smile

Hopefully Farrar will repeat his succes from 2010.

Well performance from Garmin in Poland. Espescially Farrar looked great, nobody will be able to beat him in Hamburg Smile

@Alakagon: Actually Cavendish won in 2010, at least in this story Grin
@Janne: Hope so, too. Thanks.

The Vattenfall Cyclassics is the only big Pro Tour race in Germany. It`s a one-day classic for sprinters in Hamburg. Most difficult point is the Waseberg, which must be ridden several times with slopes over 10%.
Several big sprinters have won this race like Zabel, Freire, Farrar, O'Grady, McEwen and Cavendish.

HTC dominated this race with a double win. Lucky for the spectators that all of these riders are again in Hamburg in 2011.
Farrar was way to exhausted and so Fischer was our man for this race after Farrar had problems on the Waseberg. The Brazilian did really well and had also wins in Pologne and at the Sparkassen Giro. Both sprinters will be part of our 2011 squad.

img267.imageshack.us/img267/8981/teaman.jpg
Farrar is in top form here after not riding the Giro and wants his second win in Hamburg. Fischer will try to help him as good as possible as also Maaskant and Vansummeren will do. Except of Farrar nobody really prepared for this race and so he is our only leader.

A long, but totally flat classic in Hamburg. Just the Waseberg is a difficult climb. But normally all sprinters can pass this climb and fight for the win in the end.
Farrar is still in a good form and will give his best.

img208.imageshack.us/img208/7167/pcm0004v.jpg
Sprick (Europcar), Costa (Movistar) and Bodnar (Liquigas) are the group of the day. It will be hard for them in such a small group.

img833.imageshack.us/img833/390/pcm0005f.jpg
Quickstep, FDJ and mostly Lampre is doing the pace. Boonen is definitely a top favourite but Hutarovich and Napolitano don`t usually win in such a strong field.

img440.imageshack.us/img440/962/pcm0006c.jpg
The group climbs the Waseberg the first time. 1km with 10% can feel really painful after so many kilometers.

img600.imageshack.us/img600/9308/pcm0007u.jpg
When the advance is still quite big we decided to work for the peloton, too. 6min and just 50km to go.

img210.imageshack.us/img210/522/pcm0008.jpg
Much faster than the last time the peloton is climbing the Waseberg again. Some riders with big problems now.

img199.imageshack.us/img199/8462/pcm0009v.jpg
Shortly after the 20km mark the group is caught. They lost much time on the last kilometers. They are totally exhausted now.

img156.imageshack.us/img156/8769/pcm0010h.jpg
The sprint starts soon and Farrar lost Davis wheel shortly before. What a pity as his position was excellent. So it`s Napolitano and Davis with the best position. Also Boonen lost his front man.

img413.imageshack.us/img413/8236/pcm0011.jpg
A bit surprisingly Napolitano completes his team`s work with a great win.
Really pity for us because Farrar was by far the fastest in this sprint and 100m more and he would have overtaken him and Davis. So he must be happy with the podium.
But the biggest disappointing was HTC-Highroad. After the double last year they couldn`t be better than 34th and 58th.

Exactly what I thought, too.
3rd in a PT classic with that many sprinters is good, but it was definitely possible to win, so also disappointing for us.

The Eneco Tour of Benelux is a road bicycle racing stage-race held in August and leads through the Benelux countries. In general it`s a race for time trialists with a few puncheur qualities. So Jose Ivan Gutierrez is the record champion with 2 wins. Tom Boonen has the most stage wins with 10, 4 of those in 2010.

10Leif HosteOmega Pharma-Lotto

With incredibly 4 stage wins and 40 bonus seconds, Tom Boonen was able to win the Eneco Tour ahead of Cancellara, who wasn`t able to close the gap in the timetrial. So he was the first one winning the Eneco Tour without being a time trial specialist. (Love PCM for that realism Grin)
In general Quickstep dominated the race. Danielson was able to get a nice 9th without being a great time trialist and with some problems on the pavements.

With Sanchez and Bobridge we have two excellent time trialists here. So we hope for some good results. We are not really sure about their results on the "cobbled" stages and especially Bobridge could get problems there as he is also just an average puncheur. Hunter and Rojas will be our leaders on the flat stages. Hopefully we can get some nice results. There are many great sprinters here but the dominator Boonen is missing.

Favourites

***** Cancellara
**** Hagen, Hushovd
*** Gusev, Haussler, Langeveld
** Cornu, Rosseler, Flecha, Konovalovas
* Sanchez, Bennati, Ballan, Roelandts, Breschel

Of course Cancellara is the top favourite. He is the best in timetrials and on the cobbles. Most other favourites are the classics sprinters and timetrial specialists.

Good luck! With a bit luck, Sánchez or Bobridge might be able to get into the Top10 if they will not lost to much time at the cobbles...

Alakagom
Hopefully you will get nice results with Rojas, and a stage win.
