this is really as flat as it gets in the vuelta (besides the Madrid stage). Bunch sprint - Cavendish can't fail again - surely?
I hope not. But he don't have Eisel :/
If Goss doesnt puncture with 5km to go again, then he will have a better chance than the Farrar victory stage.
Oh, so that's what happent on the "Farrar-Stage". Was wondering where his lead-out went. Considering how god HTC is to make thoose trains.
Im fairly sure that was the excuse yeh - but ultimately, Cavendish may still have won had he made his move a little later
Oh yeah, he was the fastest until the last 50m(?). There is no doubt that he is the fastest in any peleton.
Hopefully the HTC train is back on track tomorrow

His speed is great, but not his timing. I mean in the tour he won even though he went a little early. Maybe he's not in such a good shape afterall? |

I wouldnt expect him to be in top shape right at the beginning of the Vuelta. He had only done a couple of races since the Tour - and his target is the Worlds.

As far as the points jersey goes, Cavendish is in a far better position in the Vuelta at the moment than he was in the Tour - by the Thursday night of the first week in the Tour, Cav was 52 points behind Thor, who was in green. At the moment he's only 11 points behind Gilbert, and has only taken part in 2 sprints. So assuming his fitness is going to improve over the next week he has a real shot at the points jersey I think (although I would point out that I haven't closely analysed how many sprint stages there are, so feel free to tell me I'm talking rubbish ) |

Except the Madrid stage and today's stage, there is only one flat stage left. There are 2 more stages with 2nd and 3rd category climbs but those will probably go to a breakaway.
I think it will be one of the GC favorites who will take the green jersey since the winner of the stage gets 25 points for any kind of stage.

The fact that Gilbert got a lead out yesterday suggests to me that he might like to target the Points jersey

Maybe he wants it, but Anton is only 6 points behind him. If Anton can follow the best in the mountains and get top finishes in those stages then I think he is in a better position than Gilbert

I think it's very much a case of "Can they follow Antón?".
"They" being RodrÃguez, Menchov, F. Schleck and Nibali
