Nairo Quintana - 2016
Jakstar22
Thanks guys!!! Means a lot!! Here is stage 15 for you all!

Giro d’Italia

Here it is, the legendary climb up the Col du Galibier is here on the 15th day of the Giro d’Italia. It is here that a race can be won or lost. Yesterday I lost almost a minute on Nibali so I really need to watch him closely today.

Stage 15

Follow Nibali and go for the win. I need to make sure I lose no more time on Nibali.

The Race

The first mountain arrived and the team got onto the front. Kwiatkowski is leading us up the climb at the moment and keeping the pace high!

i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah237/jakstar21/GI%201_zpsarrto2h7.jpg

At the top of the first climb only 30 riders remained in the peloton. There is still 77km to go!

Attacks in the breakaway started early on the final climb. Pozzovivo looks to be the strongest at the moment.

Intxausti finished his ride and told me to go! 8km to go now.

i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah237/jakstar21/GI%204_zpsw88znkon.jpg

De La Cruz takes a fantastic victory up the Col Du Galibier!

In 2nd place is Uran and in 3rd is Nibali. I come in 5th place.

A very exciting race today going up that legendary climb! I raced hard but could only take 5th. I lose a few seconds but I am happy with my performance today. Tomorrow is a rest day which I am really looking forward to!

I started reading your story yesterday. Really nice story. I see you only posted a while back. Please finish the season. I think in your 2014 or 2015 season you did send your team for a pre season training camp, but you actually played with your team, how is that possible?? Also you should've kept Froome in the story, it is an awesome rivalry!

Glad you are enjoying it!

I have almost finished racing the season I just haven't really felt like uploading. I will however look into finishing the season for you!

And thank you for the tips! I will look into maybe changing something's..however I have almost racing the entire season so not much I can do.

And the training camp I just chose a long race and then stopped all my riders and let them go back off the pack. Then just raced with them and did the training camp.

Haha, I am just really curious to see if you can do the triple, Froome is out of your way, and well so is contador.. kind of.. Really appreciate all the time and effort that you have put in. In the beginning I didn't quite see the point of this, but halfway through I was growing in to this story, giving me more motivation for my PCM Career. Thanks. And Thank you for your reply.
If you want to win, you suffer!

I am also wondering if I can do it hahaha. Will be an interesting finish to the season!!

And that's awesome to hear! At the start I wasn't to into it ether but I started to make more of a story out of it and I guess it worked haha. Glad to hear that my story is giving you motivation! Hopefully you can continue your career! Smile

Giro d’Italia

Two transition stages before we head into the final 3 mountain stages to end the Giro. I am still in a great position with a lead of 1’55 to Nibali. So I definitely still have a good gap and am in a great position to win the Giro for a second time.

Stages 16 & 17

i63.tinypic.com/2rzrlsp.jpg

i63.tinypic.com/2upd3dz.jpg

Two very long races both over 200km. They are basically the same with long flat section and then 1 hill in the last 20-30 km of the stage. I am strong in the hill so I hope I can gain some time over the next 2 days.

Thanks Smile I'm going to at least try and finish the season off. I didn't like how I ended it in the middle of the season or the middle of the Giro. So this is back and I will race till the end of the season!

Giro d’Italia

A mountain TT to really show that we have transitioned into the mountains! I am the best climber here so let’s hope I can extend my lead.

Stage 18

i64.tinypic.com/bwit3.jpg

I am 1’58 ahead of Nibali and I hope to extend it today, even if it’s only by a matter of seconds it could be the difference.

I extended my gap by 42” and I won the stage. Super happy with today!! It is now a 2 horse race; Nibali is 2’40 behind and can definitely still win this race. Only 2 mountain stages left. I just need to stay with Nibali.

Yeh. Still a lot of racing left but he seems to be in good form and Nibali seems to be lacking that power and stamina. Should be a very exciting finale!

Giro d’Italia

The first of 2 mountain stages to finish the Giro, this stage is going to be tough. 2 category 1 climbs and a Hors Category climb as well!

Stage 19

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/Stage%20Profile_zpsdofnotmo.jpg

Stage 19 of the Giro d’Italia and probably one of the hardest! It has 3 separate climbs over the 138.6km course. I am 2’40 ahead of Nibali and looking to just stay with Nibali.

The Race

We tore the group apart on the first climb! We are now on the first decent of the race. Pajaron is leading at the moment with Intxausti, Kwiatkowski and myself behind him.

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/GI%201_zpsu7l6srgp.jpg

We just started the final climb. I told Intxausti that he can go for the win if he wants. Sure enough he follows an attack by Uran.

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/GI%202_zpsjzgbez7d.jpg

So just like Evans winning the Tour back in 2011 and how he did it, all the work was thrust upon me with half way up the final climb. I accepted and thought to myself “Stay with my if you can” and off I went.

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/GI%203_zpslio3uemc.jpg

I had caught up to the 2 leaders (Uran & De La Cruz, Intxausti got dropped a few km ago) with 1.2km to go. However, I had nothing for the sprint.

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/GI%204_zpstrwhysnw.jpg

And it’s Uran who takes the victory ahead of De La Cruz. I take 3rd place and extend my lead even more!

i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Jak_Love/GI%205_zpsrywh87qc.jpg

Nibali came in a minute and a half later.

Well I don’t think it is possible for me to lose now. I have 4’07 over 2nd place and 8 minutes over 3rd. I just need to stay with the favourites. Intxausti moved up 2 spots today and we will work to try get him up some more tomorrow.

Seeya then
