STAGE 3: Men Tou Gou - Yong Ning Town 160 KM's

Stage Favourites:
***Schleck(ISS) **Uran(LAM) *Rolland(EML)

This is the stage which will almost certainly decide GC.

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/PCM0473_zps9cfa0bbc.jpg

Uran takes the win and moves into the GC lead. Bakelants finished well and holds a high spot on GC despite falling early on.

Zadinskyi rode really well and got into the break, he is well clear of the bottom 50 places, he looks likely to be on our team next season then.

It is official the (UCI) international cycling union has announced that......

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/4udc_zps6f920bd7.jpg

Qatar will be competing in the world championships next year. It will, no doubt, be a huge honour for the riders which are selected.

- Also, the UCI has announced at the very least two more continental teams will be added increasing the number of teams on the continental tour, early rumours suggest an Indian sponsor is likely to sponsor a team. I have a good idea about one of the possible new continental teams.......

sutty68
Another good stage result for Jan Smile

And Great news that Qatar will be involved in the World Championships next year Grin

The tour of Beijing finishes with Guardini winning twice, capturing the points jersey from Felline, who fell in the sprint, on the final stage.

Uran wins the GC for a record second time, Bakelants holds a great GC place for us.

But most importantly Zadinskyi finishes 63rd in GC, safely inside the top 100 riders. He will ride with us next season after meeting the ultimatum. Only one day of racing is left for the team.

Here it our last race of the season, can we end it with a bang in this French hilly race?

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/PCM0003_zps2cf5cb8b.jpg

In his last race for Qatar Optics our former world champ, Gilbert, attacks to form the break. Once the break is well established Tiernan Locke and Stortoni attack to bridge across.

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/PCM0013_zps5bcfc8ad.jpg

Gilbert is looking strong, the break will fight out the win proving to be tougher than the domestiques on the peloton.

Stortoni attacks with 3 kilometres to go before the final climb, after doing much riding on the front Gilbert leaves the chase to Tiernan Locke...

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/PCM0014_zpsd4c027c6.jpg

Gilbert is the fastest of the trio in the sprint but Stortoni was the wisest and gets a well earned win, a great result for us and world TT champ Kritskiy also finishes well in the tough finish, boding really well for his classics campaign next season, maybe?

@ Krisa - I bet you do! Grin Yep its going to be a team which aims to build cycling in the Indian sub continent by the looks of it, so expect riders from India and Island nation Mauritania to enter the races. Wink

The CQ rankings are the one's which really matter. No surprises that Gazprom are top after Ellisonde's brilliant season amongst multiple fine performances. Qatar Optics and Kenda get promoted as the two best continental teams. Our top ranked rider was Kritksiy @ 25th.

Teams Apple and Euskaltel are relegated to the continental tour, proving that it is hard to stay up without classics winners and GC men. Izagirre was our best ranked rider @ 30th.

With our guys so focused on the WT races we finished quite far down the continental rankings. Salomein bosses the rankings. Our best ranked rider was Yildiz @ 24th.

Many would argue Salomein and Pinot to be the most consistent riders of the season, but the Velo d'or went to TDF winner and Giro runner up, Ellisonde.

What a season! It was a privilege to be part of this Qatar Optics experience this season. Whilst many riders outperformed expectations the rider of the season has to be:

- T Kritskiy

The Russian was just phenomenal crowing his super season with the ITT title, but that Vuelta performance from Izagirre was outstanding while Gallopin was a rock for us in the Belgian classics. Felline winning Milan San Remo was a special performance as well.

But most crucially....

i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p727/TheRider13/0022_zps179d21be.jpg

we completed the goal to reach the WT by 2020. Now only one of our three goal remain: that is to enter a GT by 2022 with atleast 7 Qatari riders.

Next season I am more excited to be a part of Qatar Optics than ever before, the changes to the squad will continue and I am really looking forward to leading the team into new and exotic challenges.

I can't wait!

Completely from scratch rises VIRU Beer, a new team based in Estonia which will be racing on the continental tour next season. The team recently came into existence and has not replaced any existing teams. All of the squad, pretty much, come from Northern Europe and the Balkan states.

With Andrus Aug, Sylwester Szymd and Janek Tombak guiding the team all of us at Qatar Optics wish them the best of luck on their journey. To start them up they will be racing at the Tour of Qatar next season.

More teams are to be announced shortly....

Part 1:

08 November 2019

I had just finished a huge meal at home in Antwerp, the whole extended family was there, somehow Abdulatif Al Zaid even managed to talk his way to the meal.
The food, sure, it was great no doubt it was because I helped make it.

Afterwards I was beat, so in the early evening I went for a jog around Antwerp and the river Scheldt. The darkness quickly descended, before I was aware it became a struggle to see three feet in front of me.

I was 2 kilometres from anywhere, when the piercing beam of light encircled me. Instantly goosebumps exponentially multiplied across my whole body whilst my mind subconsciously cast back to 2015 when us, the human race, was first contacted in modern times by an Alien species from outer space......

The light was unbearable....then darkness......

Part 2/2:

I slowly awoke, my eyes struggled but managed to adjust to the light.

When I could finally see I was in...... my home. What was this? Some kind of joke? I called out to the family, to Jun, but no one was here. I inched around out through the front door when.

SUPRISE The whole family and Abdulatif was here, Eddie pulled off a cover and presented to me a hover car! WOW!

I was in awe. The hover car is a really really new invention, I didn't even think it was available to the public. My anger at apparently being abducted by Al Zaid and co quickly subsided.

WHAT A GIFT! Bought by the owners of Qatar Optics. How am I supposed to manage Qatar Optics when I have this epic distraction in my collection?

Just days after the announcement of an Estonian based team an Indian sponsored team has emerged.

The team is sponsored by online food retailer Kaai Kari, its aim is to attract cyclists from India and Mauritania to the team in the coming years. The team has made many headlines, with the marquee signing of Puccio, who refused to play second fiddle at Argos Oil.

Also, no doubt, to boost popularity Michelel Scarponi and George Hincapie have came out of retirement and will both race on this exciting new team in 2020.

Kaai Kari will be invited to the tour of Qatar, which will start in mid January this coming season.

I am pleased to announce to you the formation of Qatar Optics Continental. A monumental moment in the history and legacy of the Qatar Optics journey.

The team will act as a developmental team, the riders who impress the most will acquire a position on Qatar Optics.

As you can see from the squad, some of our riders who were going to be on the Qatar Optics roster in 2020 will now be riding for our continental team, meaning we will have to get some new riders in!

Miguel98
Sulimani looks a decent TT'ist. Wink

And btw, why in the Estonia/India teams I can't see the first and the last rider of each screen?

That news is, one of my sons, Eddie, will be riding for our continental team next year. Of course I had to pull a few strings but I'm sure he can pull his weight in the team.

At 6'8 he will be one of the tallest cyclists out there. This announcement comes just 1 week before his birthday, he will be there for two seasons minimum if all goes to plan.

I'm really pleased to have him, not only in my real family but now also in the Qatar Optics family.

@Miguel- Yeah, I can' take screenshots by navigating to a team so I have to take the screenshot via the search tab, we didn't miss anyone out though. Wink

We have signed the RR world champion. We have signed Jelle Vanendert.

Hats off to the negotiators and the Sheik who owns Qatar Optics on pulling off this deal. As not in a million years did I think Vanendert would ride for Qatar Optics after the world championships when he stated his desire to retire.

I met with Jelle and was thrilled when he said that he really looked forward to working with me in his rainbow year. The big news and deals just keeping on coming.

Amidst all of this publicity we also managed to sign 2 Moldovan riders and a fantastic rider in former world ITT champ, Duran. Who has finished 2nd and 3rd in the Vuelta and finished 5th in the 2019 TDF.

It turns out we will have a top top sprinter with us next season.

Yildiz will be staying with the team in 2020.

This really shocked me but the whole fiasco is apparently the work of his agent. Yildiz was set to join German club Brandenburg but apparently Yildiz had a undercover release clause in a contact which meant he would only join the German set up if they were promoted.

As a result he ends up costing the German team quite a lot of money without even riding for them, nevertheless we are pleased to have him in 2020.

I feel I should keep an eye on his cunningly sly agent though.

Great to see you have the world champion! Banana And Yildiz stays at the team as well! Grin
