Good call of Nordhaug, he'll develop well there.
Too bad for Sky though, but the team remains strong enough.

I hope EBH goes to another team where he can be a leader.

Liquigas made a mistake in wanting Basso instead of Nibali, I think they'll regret it, but at least they still have Sagan!

The fact that Liqui still has Sagan is not very conforting to me. Yes he has demostrated that he could be one of the strongest rider of all time and Moser has still not shown enough to be considered a star for the future. A team can't be built around a rider only. Remember Saxobank this year? without Contador they did nothing, and if Sagan should have a bad injury, they risk to have no one strong enough win GC and classics. Nibali to Astana is a fact of money and opportunity: they had more and he felt that, going therem he could achieve what in Liquigas couldn't. But Oss and Nerz are two different things: i don't belive that Liquigas didn't have the money to offer them a new contract and i don't think neither that these two guys accepted the BMC offer becuase they offered a lot more. I'm afraid that Liqui will change from a all around team (in the sense that it can compete and win in all the types of races excluding coobles) to a classic race and sprinter team and this is a shame for the team that made the recent history of italian cycling.

I dont think they will change much from the all-around team (also dont forget Liqui was also oriented to classics and sprints in the past with Pozzato and Bennati). Yes, they will loose their biggest GC star, but that creates place to sign someone new or chance for the very talented youngsters in their team to emerge as the contenders.

On the other hand, when you have rider like Sagan, it would be extremly stupid to not create the team around him. When he is able to do what he does without perfect support, imagine him with team dedicated to him. And because of that, i dont get it with Oss departure, maybe Oss knew he will never be calssics leader in team with Sagan, so he left because of that. So i hope Liquigas signed some proper replacements, as Sagan need 2,3 good classic rider to help him in races as MSR or AGR, so far only Oss was able to do that.

I read somewhere that Cannondale is becoming next Year main sponsor at Liquigas. Maybe this is changing the mentality of the team a bit.

This is correct, Cannondale main sponsor and Liqui only a partner. In fact there will be a new team with Cannondale main sponsor and probably a new second sponsor. I don't know if this will change the mentality of the team, but i think that we will see it when they will sign someone new for next season.

There are also some rumors that suggest that Liqui will set up a CT team for its young rider, as Leopard, Rabo and Lampre did.

what about Caruso ..he has potential and he is still young enough. Selling Nerz was mistake..as Oss Smile

Montolivo
Selling Oss is a big loss as Agnoli, Vanotti and Nibali, but they have some of the most talented in the peloton with Viviani, Agostino, Caruso and of course Sagan and Moser.

There's no selling riders as such in pro cycling.

What can a team do when rider wants to leave and has an offer that guarantees him better future ( money related ) ?

However Liquigas is still full of talent looking at the team Wink

You are right, it is imo stupidity of cyclists, to leave the team where they are settled, because of money...Oss was second in the row behind Sagan, now he will have even more captains ahead of him.

How is it stupidity? Any person would do the same, as much settled as you can be in a workplace, if another company offers you a significative increase in your wage, you wouldn't think twice.

Exactly. They cycle for a living, not for the beauty of it. It's not like changing amateur clubs because you like the other club socks better.

I totally agree, but I still hope they sign someone to replace who they let go away and, i'm afraid of it, will let go away. There are still some very good riders that don't have a team for the next season and as they don't have to pay a lot for Nibali anymore they have spared some money in order to sing someone new. The next weeks will tell us what Liqui next season will be.

Matthias Krizek signed a two-years contract with Loquigas. I don't know anything about him, but it's said in this article that, in the past twp years, he rode in the same team that grew up Elia Viviani. Let's hope for the best!!!

I would add Daniele Ratto at that list. He did it good at Catalunya Smile

Damn! I do not like that. At least I think so now, since I don't like BMC that much and I grew fond of Liquigas. But I hope he can continue to develop well, maybe he can learn from Evans.

He won a stage at GiroBio this year. A talent for sure.

Also Sarmiento and Capecchi, although they're a bit older than Sagan and Moser. Plus, they've got two young Italians, Aldegheri and Benfatto, joining as stagiares.

No worries about the team for me. They'll be back on top in a few years time.

Wouldn't surprise me if he did. Would strengthen Italian Sky base - wchich Sky wants to clearly have. And he could lead in Italian races + very well suited to Sky's mountain train Pfft

However it's the Classics squad I am more intrested to see how they stenghten - Brailsford already said they will target classics next year much more and will want to win at least one of the big ones.
