I do not have to wait to see that the Thunder are going no where

Yeah, The Brow.
Sorry jseadog, but you are the only fan of Thunder i know, everybody else hates them, icluding me. Best playoffs ever without Thunder and "i only care about stats" Wesbrook guy.
Now Go Clippers!! Probably the toughest possible opponent for them with in-form Spurs, who just kept rolling in last weeks, but that could be said about Clipps too, should be awesome series.
My tips:
Hawks-Nets : 4-2
Cavs-Celtics: 4-1
Bulls-Bucks: 3-4
Raptors-Wizards: 2-4
Warriors-Pelicans: 4-1
Rockets-Mavericks: 3-4
Clippers-Spurs: 3-4
Blazers-Grizzlies: 2-4

Also Deandre Jordan finishing season with 15 REB pre game, that is something great, comined with 71% FG percentage (and terrible FTs i know, but still, the 2nd best guy in FG% has 57% !!).
Still, The Brow should be deserved winner of best defensive player of the year.
Korver was also awesome this year, shame he ended just under 50% from downtown.
Westbrook with giant statsheet, but 29%3PTs and 4.4 turnovers, he is far from the point guard influence that for example Chris Paul is having, as he plays with half of CP3s efficiency...still great year from Westbrook, i dont especially like his style of play, but he is special.

Very happy that the Rockets clinched second seed after a slight dip to 6th and 5th seed. Also very happy Statsbrook and his team aren't in the playoffs
My tips:
Hawks-Nets: 4-1 Hawks win
Cavs-Celtics: 4-0 Cavs win
Bulls-Bucks: 4-2 Bulls win
Raptors-Wizards: 4-3 Raptors win
Warriors-Pelicans: 4-1 Warriors win
Rockets-Mavericks: 4-3 Rockets win
Clippers-Spurs: 2-4 Spurs win
Blazers-Grizzlies: 2-4 Grizzlies win |

DeAndre Jordan a good defender? I don`t think so really.
Sure this guy is a pure rebound and alley-oop machine. But other than that?
He is a awful rim protector. It`s all about high jumping for him. This makes him a decent defender I guess. But for defensive player of the year I see lots of others ahead of him.
Green should be rewarded with this award imo. He is the reason why the Warriors are not only the best offensive team but also one of the very best in the defense. This guy played a huge season.
Behind him I already have Gobert. This guy is the best rim protector I have seen this season. It`s incredible what impact he had defensively.
So for me it`s Curry MVP, Green Defensive, MIP is tough as there are quite a few. Whiteside came out of nothing and is a good choice here. Schröder improved a lot, but this must have been expected in some way, Butler as well eventually even though he showed some of this last season already.
Rookie obviously to Wiggins. |

You probably misunderstood my post Roturn, i wrote that The Brow (Anthony Davis) should be the winner of best defensive player, only first paragraph was about DJ.
But come on, DJ a bad defender? He is certainly not the best in positioning, but calling him an awful rim protector is strange, given the fact that he is top5 in blocks. And 15 rebounds per game steals also a lot of possible second chances for opponents...
With that said, i agree there are much better players in the league in defence and rim protecting though. Both Draymond and Gobert are amongst them, i expect Davis to win that though.
For MIP, i would go with J.Butler, Gobert,D.Green or Whiteside.

I read your post as if it was a fight between the Brow and Jordan. So I added a few guys I would still have ahead of Jordan.
I also said he is a decent defender due to his air dominance. But rim protection is for me more than just air dominance. It`s also the ability to avoid too many drives etc. And to me it looks quite often that Jordan isn`t going 100% to avoid an opponents points but instead saving his energy for the next alley-oop etc.
I could add far more centers, that I think are better rim protectors like Chandler, Noah or Gasol. In the end those are all good defenders I think. Including Jordan. But while some of them have the little bit extra to get the defensive award, I think Jordan will never have this one.
Regarding the Brow. Obviously a great defender and very complete player. But still I wouldn`t podium him for this award neither this year. |

I agree with majority of your points. And i never said that DJ top defender in the game, thing that makes him the player he is is his two way game. He is best rebounder, great shot blocker and decent offensive center bar FTs, so he makes all around presence. Freaking 71% FG on 11.5 points is so awesome i cant even discuss it, was there ever bigger gap to 2nd guy in percentage than 14% from this year? It does not matter that half of that are alley-oops, basket is a basket.
The thing i dont much agree with is stoping the drives into the paint, that is not the job for center, but for the guards and wings at the first place. DJ is playing typical paint protector and when player gets there driving, DJ is fearsome opponent there.
I also dont understand that "saving himself for another oop thing". How many Clipps games you have seen this year mate, because his game is all about energy and jumping three times in defence in quick succesion is not an uncommon thing in his game. From top of my head, only Noah plays with bigger passion and energy...

I also thing that you are underestimating defensive rebounding as part of the defensive game. That is purely defensive stat and can "steal" many points from opponents.

Just looked up some stats also with centers you mentioned and here is some comparsion. Stats are not talking the whole story obviously, but lets think about those numbers and what they say:
Noah: 6,4 DRB, 0,7STL, 1,1 BLK, def.rating: not top20
T.Chandler: 7.6 DRB, 0,6STL, 1,2BLK def.rating: not top20
M.Gasol: 6,4DRB, 0,9STL, 1,6BLK def.rating: 99.6 (10th in league)
D.J.: 10,1 DRB, 1STL, 2,2BLK def.rating:98.5 (7th in the league)
So when i earlier agreed that DJ is not one of the best defenders in the game, i was maybe rushing to agree with you a bit, these numbers clearly show how good in defence he is, certainly a top5 defensive centers in the league. Not challenging overall great defender like Green, Leonard, Bogutr,Gobert or Tony Allen, but still good defender at least to say.

Kawhi Leonard would be my defensive player of the year if he was healthy whole season. I can't stand Draymond Green, he's a douche. |

Well, I already changed the words from decent defender to good defender above.
I might be biased as I don`t like DJ a lot.
I must admit that his stats show his good defense.
But still I prefer the all around defensive playing of other players.
When having to create a team with good defense I would always prefer the other mentioned players.
In the end we might agree that he is one of the best defensive player as C but still behind all those great defenders for the defensive player title.
So Green, Gobert, Leonard for me on the highest steps. Leonard was injured too much and this way might not get it. But in general this is a beast defending the 1-4 very well, also against the top class players on each positions.
I even read some expert`s opinion on this and he named Nerlens Noel as in his opinion he is the best defender of all bigs. I can`t say a lot as I haven`t watched many games with him this season. But back in college he was at least a complete defender with rebounds, blocks, steals in good numbers all. But when seeing him I always see him a bit underweight for NBA still. Could need some more muscles. |

Agreed, i would also put it this way.
Noel is amazing defender really, he is top 10 in cumulated defensive rating and his block and steal numbers are also nice. As you said, he still need to build his body to fit NBA, but he is already there as one of the best defending big men in the league, in his rookie season! He is starting to live up to his college potential, where he was absolute block beast.

So next year the NBA is testing for HGH.
All players will have 3 unannounced tests in total during offseasonand season.
First positive 20 games ban.
2nd positive 45 games ban.
3rd positive NBA ban.
Doesn`t look very strict as this basically means ~2 months, 4-5 months ban for first two positives.
