@ sutty68: Well, yeah, so far it looks good but there are a lot of points still to gain, so the current standings don't mean much. And to your second comment: Contador isn't our opponent, tbh We won't be able to compete with him anyway.
@ baia: He's in very good shape so I hope the best as well.

July 11 – Tour de France
Stage 10
After the rest day, Roman Kreuziger continued his quest for the mountain jersey. He was in the break of four on the first large climb but did a lot of work to resist the chasing peloton and was eventually outsprinted by Velits and finished only third.
Most favorites entered the last climb together. Movistar's strong team kept pushing the pace and by and by, the group was reduced. With 7 kms to go, Alberto Contador set the decisive attack. He went and no one could follow. Igor Anton finished second, one minute behind, a group of four including Gesink, Andy Schleck and Bradley Wiggins lost two minutes to Contador, who's now in yellow and also leads the mountain classification.
Brajkovic climbed great and finished seventh, 3 minutes down, in front of the likes of Sanchez or Evans. He is now in seventh overall as well. Kreuziger again slowed down voluntarily and currently is in 33rd position.
1 | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | 4h19'12 | 2 | Igor Antón | Leopard Trek | + 1'01 | 3 | Robert Gesink | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 1'51 |
Stage 11
The last stage in the pyrenees became a fantastic triumph of Roman Kreuziger. Evidentally, his time loss in the last stages was enough for the peloton to let him go into the break. He took part in a twelve men group and took two points on the first small mountain sprint.
Climbing the Col de Portel, Kreuziger immediatly went to the front of the group. He made a reasonable pace but as the others were all weak climbers (Geschke being the best), he dropped all of them one after another and crossed the top alone, about 5 minutes in front of the main group of favorites.
On the descent and the last flat part, all the other escapees were caught but Kreuziger fought. And by and by, it became clear that he would stay in front of the pack and win this stage! Eventually, they were down by 1'43, Rodriguez outsprinted Contador for place two. Kreuziger is only 8 points behind Contador in the mountain classification now and Liquigas celebrates their first stage win. Brajkovic advanced to sixth overall as Andreas Klöden lost 2'30 on the other favorites today. Evans and Roche weren't present in that group either.
1 | Roman Kreuziger | Liquigas – Cannondale | 3h41'56 | 2 | Joaquim Rodriguez | Katusha Team | + 1'43 | 3 | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | s.t. |
Stage 12
The peloton returns to flat terrain for three transfer stages. Maciej Paterski took part in the break which didn't succeed. Garmin and T-Mobile made sure Farrar and Cavendish get their chance. And indeed, those two were in front again.
And as mostly during this Tour, Tyler Farrar turned out to be the strongest. He wins the stage and increases his lead in the points classification to 13 points. Ponzi continues to disappoint and ends up 11th.
1 | Tyler Farrar | Team Garmin – Cervélo | 3h41'55 | 2 | Mark Cavendish | Team T-Mobile | s.t. | 3 | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. |

Comment:
Okay, so Roman lost his lead in the mountain classification, but that's not too bad, there are some nice stages to come for that - and with his fantastic stage win, he fulfilled the first of our goals! It was an impressive ride. Plus, Jani does extraordinarily well! Sixth so far, that is awesome. Our "problem child" remains Simone Ponzi, but I don't care too much about that at the moment.
Alberto Contador continues his ride to the overall triumph. With his second stage win, he took over yellow and left the concurrence in the dust. I don't think he'll be stoppable, except he has one complete bad day.
But also, the other favorites don't do too well. While Andy Schleck slowly advances in the Top 10, Sanchez and Evans continue to lose unnecessary time. The two biggest surprises, in my opinion, are Rein Taarmäe with his fifth overall and his big lead in the young riders classification, and Bradley Wiggins. It seems like he would really be competitive in the mountains. Maybe he can even fight for the podium, considering the weakness of the others and the long time trial ahead. |

Brajkovic lost a lot of time in the 10th stage
But he's moving upwards in the GC, and Kreuziger is doing great as well

Great win for Kreuziger! Good to see Brajkovic in 6th. Hope he keeps moving up. By the way, is there any way to change Kreuziger's NC jersey? |

July 14 – Tour de France
Stage 13
A large 13 men break with lots of strong classic riders broke free and increased their advance to a maximum of 18 minutes. Although the peloton decreased that advance to eventually 10 minutes, the escapees sprinted for the win. Taylor Phinney outsprinted Anthony Geslin, who scores his second second spot after stage one.
In the sprint of the main pack, Tyler Farrar again triumphed. Simone Ponzi did great and finished fifth – of course exactly on that day, where a 13 riders break wins... But this result raises hopes for the remaining stages.
1 | Taylor Phinney | BMC Racing Team | 4h25'10 | 2 | Anthony Geslin | Saur – Sojasun | s.t. | 3 | Stuart O'Grady | GreenEdge Cycling | s.t. |
Stage 14
The break including Longo Borghini had no success. In the sprint, Farrar and Cavendish had no chance this time. Although they survived the hill in the first group – in contrary to Simone Ponzi – they couldn't compete with the better puncheurs among the sprinters. Belgian champion Tom Boonen eventually took the win easily ahead of Rojas and Boasson Hagen. Cavendish finished fifth and gained a little bit on Farrar who ended up 8th.
But more important than the result of the stage is the result of the split that happened on the last ascent. Only 50 riders finished within the first group and lots of overall contenders were caught behind. In fact, only four of the Top 20 were present in front: Ryder Hesjedal, who remains 11th, Andreas Klöden, who advanced from 10 to seven, luckily Janez Brajkovic, now sitting in fifth overall and, of course, dominator Alberto Contador. He increases his lead on Bradley Wiggins to 3'40, Gesink on three is 4'38 behind...
1 | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step Cycling Team | 4h20'49 | 2 | José JoaquÃn Rojas | Movistar Team | s.t. | 3 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky ProCycling | s.t. |
Stage 15
Today, we enter the Alps! Early on the first climb, it's a group around once again Roman Kreuziger that comes together in front of the peloton. On the top, only Gorka Izagirre can keep up with Kreuziger, who takes the whole 20 points. Due to inattentiveness, the Czech only takes the second place, thus only one point, on the second mountain sprint, shortly before the duo gets caught.
On the final climb, the first attack comes from Samuel Sanchez. Soon, a Spanish trio with Contador and Anton is created and they get away from the rest. In the final sprint, Contador takes his third stage win. Anton loses 11, Sanchez 27 seconds. Robert Gesink, who attacked on the last 3 kms, finishes fourth, 48 seconds down. Andy Schleck is the only other rider who could escape the large group of favorites. He comes 1'17 after Contador to the line, 10 seconds faster than Janez Brajkovic, who leads the group. Another strong performance by the Slovenian.
Today's biggest loser is Cadel Evans, who loses 6 minutes. A Top 10 finish is now almost impossible.
1 | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | 4h51'09 | 2 | Igor Antón | Leopard Trek | + 11 | 3 | Samuel Sánchez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 27 |

General Classification after Stage 15:

Sprint Classification:
1 | Tyler Farrar | Team Garmin - Cervélo | 227 | 2 | Mark Cavendish | Team T-Mobile | 218 | 3 | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step Cycling Team | 169 |
Mountain Classification:
1 | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | 67 | 2 | Roman Kreuziger | Liquigas - Cannondale | 60 | 3 | Igor Antón | Leopard Trek | 50 |
Young Riders Classification:
1 | Rein Taaramäe | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | 63h26'19 | 2 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky ProCycling | + 9'29 | 3 | Cyril Gautier | Team Europcar | + 17'55 |
Comment:
Almost everything goes perfectly well for us. Jani rides consistently while the others keep losing precious time, Roman is still on track for the mountain jersey, although it'll be tough to challenge Contador there. And even Simone Ponzi actually showed what he can in a sprint, although it was a worthless sprint, but still. It all looks very well for us.
Meanwhile, the exciting fight in the general classification is not the one for the win. Contador is just too strong to let that go. It's for the two places behind him. It's pretty probable that only Antón, Gesink and Wiggins will have a say for that, as Taaramäe and Brajkovic are too weak and Schleck and Sanchez are already too far away. In my opinion, Gesink as the best alrounder has the best cards for second place, but we'll see... |
