Pellizotti is doing great. Martin is too. Looks like a top 3 for MArtin and young rider comp.
Well, the most realistic goal should be the U-25 competition. It might be hard to keep the second position while Garzelli and Brushegin are doing well, too.
Pellizotti is not only the strongest in the mountains he´s also the biggest contender for the sprinter´s jersey and I´m sure Cavendish won´t have any chance.Maybe Cavendish will leave the Giro before the last 3 stages! |

The third stage race in May will be in Germany! While Tony Martin is fighting for the best result in his young career, another team-squad is doing the Bayern Rundfahrt in Germany. It´s not a hard race but that doen´t mean that we´re going to win every stage. As always we sent a strong sprint-squad with Renshaw,Sieberg and Roulston. Our team-captain is Rabon who can do well there.Especially the 4th stage should be his main goal. It´s a time trial about 26 kilometres but the second stage should be important, too

First stage in Bayern should be made for sprinters.Renshaw and his lead-out man Sieberg are the biggest favorites for today while Rossi and Van Hummel might be able to beat them
The break was really big today with more than 15 riders.Christensen could get 6 KoM points and is wearing the jersey tomorrow!
After the break was brought back, the sprinter teams began to build their trains. The fastest was Columbia with Roulston,Sieberg and Renshaw
Roulston did a great job and so it was up to Sieberg who was a bit tired. But there was no train who could take the lead
When the sprint began Enrico Rossi was the fastest for the moment, taking the lead.Renshaw could not accelerate anymore while his legs were not the best today
In the end it was a close finish between Rossi and Van Hummel while Renshaw was fighting for the podium against Lisowicz
The photofinish said that Rossi is the winner of the first stage!Van Hummel became second in front of Lisowicz and Renshaw.Maybe he was riding in the wind for too many metres

Stage 17 : Brunico - Peio Terme
Only one day after the hard time trial in the mountains, the next mountain arrival is waiting! If Pellizotti won´t crash the next stages ,I´m sure he will win the Giro 2010.The most important thing for us is Tony Martin and his second place at the moment which seems unrealistic but it´s true! Our goal for today should be to watch after Garzelli and Brushegin because they are the biggest contenders for the podium
With only 5 kilometres to go,the overall leader Pellizotti made the first move
Fuglsang,Martin and Scarponi went after him while Garzelli and Brushegin didn´t attack;they were still in the pack
Pellizotti and his team-mate Nibali were in front with only 2 kilometres to go while Scarponi and Martin were just a few metres behind
Pellizotti was in front when the sprint began while Nibali was behind him.Martin and Scarponi were sprinting for the podium
Pellizotti takes another stage win. It´s a double for Liquigas because only Nibali could keep it up with Pellizotti today!
Another great stage by Tony Martin! He won the close sprint finish against Scarponi and he was able to get more seconds to Garzelli and Brushegin because they were not attacking today!

The second stage is maybe the most important in Bayern. With many uphill sections this one will be hard for everyone! Our team-captain Rabon might be able to get a good position for the time trial in two days but there are also Joly,Noe and Geschke
After many climbs this group was built with many favorites like Rabon and Joly. There were more than 35 kilometres to go so it wasn´t sure if Rabon could hang on
The first move came from Joly with more than 24 kilometres to go.For the moment no one could go after him but there was still a long way to go
On the last kilometre Joly´s advantage was more than 3 minutes! The chasing group was too ´stupid´in the end
Rabon was in a good position, following two Ceramica riders with only 3 kilometres to go
Joly takes the stage win after an impressive performance on the last 25 kilometres! He will also take the leader´s jersey from Rossi and I´m pretty sure he will win the Bayern Rundfahrt
Joly´s team-mate Lemoine was able to pass Rabon and the Ceramica double on the last metres but their gap to Joly was too big
Rabon finished as 5th, 3 minutes and 23 seconds behind Joly
Stage results

Stage 18 : Levico Terme - Brescia
Today is the last flat stage before we will reach the last 3 days. Two of them are mountain arrivals and the last one is a time trial that means it´s the last chance for Cavendish to take another stage win today!
Our sprint train worked perfectly today while many other teams had some problems to build one
When the sprint began Eisel took the lead of Martin who did a great job today. It seemed like a perfect sprint for us while only J.J Haedo were able to follow Cavendish
Cavendish made his move with only 1 kilometre to go so no one could follow him.Eisel tried to keep his second position in front of Haedo
And it worked!Cavendish and Eisel got the double for Columbia. That means Cavendish will get the sprinter´s jersey back for the moment but he´s only 3 points in front of Pellizotti so he won´t have any chance in the end.J.J Haedo won the close sprint for the third place

No stay and battle for the jersey.
Just spended some time reading the hole story. I've got one word.
MARVELOUS!!! No two words. OUTSTANDING!
Looking forward to follow the rest of the season.
One question.. How do you set up your sprint trains?
Go Team Saxobank!!

Thanks a lot! It´s always great to hear something like that.
First I put Martin on dot with 99%(With 8-9 kilometres to go)
Eisel is following Martin and Cavendish takes Eisel´s wheel.
With only 4-5 kilometres to go Eisel takes the lead of Martin and then on the last kilometre Cavendish is making the final move which brings the stage win |

No stay and battle for the jersey.
Just spended some time reading the hole story. I've got one word.
MARVELOUS!!! No two words. OUTSTANDING!
Looking forward to follow the rest of the season.
One question.. How do you set up your sprint trains?
Thanks a lot! It´s always great to hear something like that.
First I put Martin on dot with 99%(With 8-9 kilometres to go)
Eisel is following Martin and Cavendish takes Eisel´s wheel.
With only 4-5 kilometres to go Eisel takes the lead of Martin and then on the last kilometre Cavendish is making the final move which brings the stage win
When Eisel is in front, is he riding af 99 dot? Can wait to hear about the last 3 stages!
Go Team Saxobank!!

No real reason to take out Cav now... Then you should've done it after the last flat stage a week ago or so... Can't you send him into attacks and get him som points from there?
