Soler will attack the minute the mountains start, now he is 3:26 behind due to stupid flat stages where the peloton split. |

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think i saw Joaquim Rodriguez in the group Cavendish-Menchov. If this is true, then Rodriguez went up the final rise faster than Menchov, finishing only 19 seconds behind. |

Rodriguez is better than Menchov in this kind of stages, with small small hills like a classic, so maybe that's why he was faster than Menchov. Remember than Menchov also lost in Le Tour time in a stage like this but I think that he was caught in a crash in the pack there.

I think Robert Förster can kiss his career goodbye
And Markus Fothen isn't looking too good, either.

I remeber a stage when it rained. And yes there was some wind, but I remember that someone crashed and then Saxo started working hard at the front of the pack. Saunier Duval (with Ricco, oh) and all the Rabo team except Freire were caught in the second pack.

I was expecting to see Lance losing time in this stages not Menchov, Leipheimer or Basso.

Ofcourse, when you sit in the wheel all the time and don't take over till the last 200 meters, you are faster. He didn't take over once and let Menchov, Ardila and High Road do all the work.
What a brillaint profiteur yes. Mind you, it's more stupid then anything else, if he worked from the beginning he might not have lost 19 seconds, but 15 or even 10. |

I dont think its stupid. He won't be a podium contender anyway, while Menchov is. And he knows that. Why bother riding for those few seconds then? They arent going to make a huge difference for him.
I understand it perfectly well that Rabo and Columbia where they only ones to relay in that groupe. |

Rodriguez is the designated leader for the GC for Caisse...
So yes, it IS stupid. And he already finished 6th in the Vuelta last year. So why couldn't he do better?

What do you say, Lövkvist in la Maglia Rosa after tomorrows stage? I know that he has said that he's not riding for the overall, but if he can keep the same pace at the favourites tomorrow, maybe Columbia have to change their minds about his position in the TdF

As I said, I dont think he's got podium ambitions which Menchov does, plus Cav in the pink jersey. That made them the obvious chasers. There's no point in Rodrigues starting to wasted powers then as well. Those few seconds aren't going to do anything to him(most likely). |

I can't get Soler's bad luck. Yesterday he wasn't well positioned and he lost time when the peloton splitted. Today he was near the front and he got involved in that stupid crash and, again, he lost time. This is unbelievable. And I don't quite get the critics against him, supposedly because he hasn't done anything after his KOM in the ToF (quite arguably, by the way). The only grand tours he has done after that were last year's Giro and Tour and with his wrist injury there wasn't much he could have done.
At least I hope that, considering his actual position, he will fight hard for the KOM. But I don't like it. It's kind of Virenque's lame tactic of losing time in the very first stages so he could then pick up the mountain points. Fortunately, in this case it isn't voluntary.
