Valverde is at the back of the group He is either stupid or not feeling good.
Also I posted this on PPDB in response to something, but I shall put it here as my prediction!
It does look like a Piepoli-type finish, it would be great for him to win, but I think he will be working for Ricco, the way he used to work for Simoni in the Giro. I think it was the Zoncolan where Simoni and Piepoli did a 1-2? The Zoncolan climb looks much like the Hautacam, so maybe Piepoli and Ricco can do it here.

and just a couple of minutes before Valverde got dropped I said Valverde was either stupid or suffering, unfortunately he wasn't stupid, but good news he was suffering

remember: the hautacam is just like this (same exact length and average incline). except this one keeps getting steeper, while the hautacam has a steady incline
and this isn't even the longest side of the Tourmalet...
