sutty68 - Close in places, but not so close in time Sagan is very strong.
Jakstar22 - That Classic has to be won one day!! Thanks, I hope his palmares can grow even more spectacular over the years! |

La Flèche Wallonne A profile which should suit me better than at the Cauberg, in theory. Don't know if I can do better than a 2nd place, though.
Result I watched the Belgian weather predictions and they weren't wrong. Apperantly this is one of the worst storms in years. No way the UCI will cancel a race, though. We're riding through it.
I'm so light I nearly got blown off my bike on more than one attempt.
Devenyns got in the break today.
As the storm blew over, I started preparing a little storm of my own. De Gendt wasn't feeling super so he told me he would lay the groundwork for me. At my cue, he tore the wind apart, all I had to do was follow.
There was an exciting battle and we split up into two groups. Devenyns stayed at the front after being reeled in. At the foot of the Mur de Huy, I was stuck in the second group.
I was way too far down to make anything of it. Damn it! I sprinted up the Mur on aggression.
However, the Mur is long, longer than expected. I passed quite some guys and had some energy to spare!
But it wasn't long enough. I finished 4th, which is still better than expected. The winner today was Valverde.
Result
Analysis & Daily Thoughts I take great pride in this result. It's my first time here, I can't expect anything better. But in races like this, I notice I miss that power I have in the high mountains. These hills are too short for me, the altitude too low.
I'm very excited to race my second monument in a few days, Liège - Bastogne - Liège!

Liège - Bastogne - Liège La Doyenne. After a 2nd and a 4th place in the previous races, I hope to achieve a top 10, at least!
The Race Three for three, Devenyns was our man in the breakaway so our team didn't have to chase at all.
It was a hard day, there's no denying that. Sometimes a gap would fall, and then some teams would turn up the heat to put pressure on those left behind.
And so the field blew to pieces...
And then it was time to play!
Things got extremely hectic. When things finally settled down a little bit, we noticed several riders had attacked and were breaking away. I had to go to the chase.
Turning up the final climb, I was in 4th position, with Schleck and Mollema at my wheel. I managed to break the rest. Froome was coming, though.
Valverde took La Doyenne! What a victory for the World Champion.
I came close for the podium but just missed out. So disappointing, I really wanted to get up there in this race.
Result
Analysis & Daily Thoughts My Ardennes campaign was quite successful, with one podium and two 4th places. I think I'll definitely return here one season, maybe to even win a Classic.
This has brought me quite some experience on one day races and I'll remember that for the World Championships.
Now I'm taking a break, hope you think I deserve it.
I'll be getting married and then I'll return for Tour de Suisse.
See you then,
Henry |

Don't worry, that's a nice result. I'm up to here in a story of mine, not Walter, but yay. Still pretty good, and there's always the next 10 years! |

Great Ardennes races by Henry. He did real good there. Seems to be all like one huge build-up towards the french world championship.
Valverde winning Fleche and L-B-L in WC jersey.
Hope us readers get some of the wedding cake too.

That are great results. It is always a bit frustrating to get 4th twice but Top 5 in all the 3 Ardennaises? That is something!

The Hobbit - The next 10 years. Should get a win here in that time, I reckon
sutty68 - Thanks!
welker3257 - I agree. Definitely need to come back here.
Atlantius - It seems so. I'm usually pretty bad at Ardennes classics on PCM, so it's nice I'm getting better at them;
Dippofix - Indeed Just one more year!
24sebaf1 - That might be hoping a bit too much, though win one would be amazing already!
Jakstar22 - Record what, the wedding of the wedding night? Are you that reporter from playboy?
Shonak - With the French National Championships being somewhat hilly, I'd say Henry has a good shot at those. The competition isn't really that strong at the moment, so let's hope he can take it. Valverde with a dream season in that jersey!
duxili - Definitely agree there! Didn't expect 3 top 5s, very promising for the future.
Tomorrow and Friday I only have my laptop at the evening, not during the day, so don't expect a lot of updates then. Today I'll try to get ahead to the Tour of Suisse. Got some work to do, too, though, so we'll just see! |

Well, but I meant world championship in France in a few years. NC isn't too much of interest form since I'm not french. I wanna see Henry taking that rainbow jersey at age 25!!

Shonak - Oh, right. Yeah, that's definitely a big goal on the agenda. Aged 25, he will hopefully be at the height of his power.
Jakstar22 - I won't tell anyone Instead of showing you, I'll tell you about it! |

The Wedding Crashers - Part I It was Saturday, the 16th of May. I woke up to what was supposed to be the best day of my life. I hadn't seen Becca in a week now. We decided to make it a little more exciting and special by spending the week before apart. I spend that time cycling, obviously. She was a week away with her good friend Molly.
My best man, Warren, woke me up, quite brutally.
"Dude, we overslept!"
Perfect start to a perfect day...
Team Celesio is doing extremely well this season. The new sponsor has been put on the map and we're taking over the cycling world by force!
De Gendt won Tour de Romandie, concluding the exciting battle in the final time trial.
Kristoff won the Bayern Rundfarht, an important race for our German sponsor.
But the Giro, that was the main goal this time of the year. Without a Classic, we could certainly use a Grand Tour...
Giro d'Italia 2015 The Giro d'Italia 2015 will be remembered for a very long time. Especially by Celesio - Macquarie. Let me tell you what happened.
The opening time trial was won by Team Celesio - Macquarie, putting Carpenter in pink. We didn't just win it, we took 43 seconds on the second team and 57 on the third team. A great start.
Three stages later, Thomas De Gendt won the first hilly stage and took the Pink jersey himself. This was quite early, but seeing his lead, we had to choice but to defend it.
De Gendt was legendary. Winning stages 4, 9, 11, 13 and 19, he kept the Pink Jersey around his shoulders. The jersey was never at another team. He gave Belgium something to cheer about. The competition, too, check the top 4.
General Classification 1 | Thomas De Gendt | Team Celesio - Macquarie | 83h59'07 | 2 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | + 6'24 | 3 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | BMC Racing Team | + 6'29 | 4 | Jelle Vanendert | Katusha Team | + 7'46 | 5 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 9'33 | 6 | Pierre Rolland | Team Europcar | + 13'37 | 7 | Daniel Martin | Garmin - Sharp | + 15'30 | 8 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ.fr | + 19'19 | 9 | Kenny Elissonde | AG2R La Mondiale | + 21'03 | 10 | Janez Brajkovič | Astana Pro Team | + 23'41 | 11 | Maxime Monfort | RadioShack - Leopard | + 23'47 | 12 | Fabio Aru | Cannondale Pro Cycling | + 26'19 | 13 | Thomas Carpenter | Team Celesio - Macquarie | + 27'16 | 14 | Rafal Majka | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | + 31'45 | 15 | Diego Ulissi | Lampre - Merida | + 34'07 |
Now that I what I call impressive. De Gendt used his strengths as a strong rider and the world's best time trialist to win the Giro in a stylish fashion.
This is great news.
So I should be extremely happy, as well. He's a great guy.
But soon after the celebrating, I started having doubts, too.
This definitely upped the pressure for me at the Tour. I needed to confirm as a stage racer, or else I might lose my place in the team...
The Tour of Suisse is still a week away, I need to strike hard there and get in shape for the Tour, I need to!
