Good luck at the climb of the beautiful girls.
It seems that Greipel can't win a sprint now he has left Lotto

@francopell: Hopefully not, although a 2nd place wouldn't be too bad But VDB will probably outshine him in the mountains.
@sutty68: We hope to be there for a very long time
@ste_18: It's a great start for him, every Frenchmen's wet dream, I guess
@JuanMotr: I hope he keeps concentrated on the race
@PCM rulezz: Greipel isn't winning many stages, that's true. But Lotto hasn't been winning too many sprints either, so it worked better together

Le Tour De France - Stage 8
Today will be a great test for all GC riders, as well for me.
Dennis Vanendert was in the breakaway of the day, which made our job a lot easier.
He even took a little bonus for the team, as no one sprinted for the Supersprint.
But then SaxoBank and Sky thought it had been enough for the breakaway. They started working to reel them back in.
Near the foot of the Planche Des Belles Filles, De Gendt attacked. Jelle Vanendert closed the gap and took Jurgen with him!
However, everything came back together. Kiserlovski attacked, no one followed. All GC contenders were looking at each other. I found Jurgen at the front and he ordered me to start making my famous killing-pace (as he called it on the recon camp we had in May.) I delivered and he followed.
We had created a little gap, as Nibali was lurking for Froome way too long. We used it to our advantage and I kept going full gas until the final km.
And, hello, what's this?
I delivered Jurgen close to the finish and finished the climb on a slower pace. My job was done! I was happy to see I still finished 11th!
Unfortunately, the finish camera crashed, so we have no image of it, but Kiserlovski won in front of Jurgen!

Vasil Kiryienka.
Well, we didn't expect to have the leader's jersey so soon in the race, but we'll do everything in our power to hold it! The team's doing excellent.
While, on personal goals, I'm riding beyond my wildest expectations. It's unimaginable that I can create a pace too high for riders as Evans to follow. I'm growing a lot here and I think I'm getting ready for a leadership position in the team, maybe in a GT next year. But of course, I'm still 100% domestique for Jurgen here, as he is (still) definitely the better man, maybe the best here...

@francopell: I sent some minor helpers, to see what effect is really has
@TomC: We'll try to keep it all the way to Paris!
@JuanMotr: You wanted pictures, didn't you? I think Eric could've won the stage but he stopped at the pretty girls for a friendly "chat" |

Le Tour De France - Stage 9
Today is another hard, hilly stage. The final day before the first rest day, so we can and will have to go full gas today.
The team worked hard, with mostly Bart De Clerq, Jurgen Van De Walle and Francis De Greef up front.
Quickly the peloton started to break up.
Sagan snatched away the remaining points at the Supersprint easily.
Whoever out there still doubting us: Lotto-Belisol is strong and we intend to keep the yellow jersey!
Jelle Vanendert took most of the final climb for his account.
Rolland tried to break away but failed.
Now Jelle's job was done, it was up to me. I tried to catch some late attackers, but it was too late.
Tony Martin took the win for Omega Pharma - Quickstep.
Eventually, the pace we made was so hard that we didn't really had a sprint in the end. Finally, rest!

Arthut Vichot won today's prize.
So right before the time trial, we hold the jersey. The time trial won't be too kind on Jurgen, though. But I started thinking, not for on the long term, but maybe I have a shot at grabbing that jersey, if it was only for a day! We'll see what happens after the rest day, at the time trial!
In other news: Lotto-Belisol signed two riders for next year: Klaas Lodewyck and Jens Keukeleire.

Le Tour De France - Stage 10
The Time Trial.
I was off, standing 5th on the GC.
8 minutes later, Jurgen was off.
I finished 5th, and to my annoyance I saw De Gendt was 3th, 4 seconds ahead of me!
But then the rest came in, and my annoyance faded. Instead, an enormous thrill came over me, holy cow, I'll be wearing the yellow jersey tomorrow!

This is unbelievable, truly unbelievable. Jurgen lost the jersey (for now) but at least it stays in the team!
However, I'll still work my ass of for Jurgen tomorrow. I'm 100% convinced that he's the one to finish the Tour first, I don't have enough experience for a thing like that yet. Although I start to believe that I can ride for a beautiful GC place myself! Especially since there's an even longer TT coming up.
Jurgen lost some time to the competition (mostly Froome), so that means he'll have to take time in the mountains, it won't be easy!
Tomorrow is almost the exact same stage as in the dauphinée, so we'll know what to do! |
