A Day in the Life | Sweet Delight
Ian Butler
duxili - Paris - Nice will be harder than Oman for sure. Becca can handle herself in a wedding Pfft

sutty68 - It seems so! Finding his Vuelta legs!

Thanks once again for all the support Wink
I expect to ride 1 or 2 races this evening, and possibly finishing Paris - Nice by tomorrow evening.
So send in any questions you might have for the interview by tomorrow evening Smile

EDIT: Seems I have a "slow" week coming up. Don't have too much work this week, so I might get in quite some PCM hours. At least I hope to do so Wink

Paris - Nice 2015 - Stage 5
i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s501_zpsd9e1016d.jpg
An interesting stage to fight back a little bit.

The Race
Offredo pretty much signed for the KoM jersey in this stage, going solo and collecting all points!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s503_zpscd64d667.jpg

A shot for the media. Upon rewatching the highlights in my hotel room, it was funny to see the commentators speculate on what the hell we were talking about.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s502_zps6561d52c.jpg

I'm out to get them, but you can't help but feel respect for Quickstep. They stepped up and did their duty.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s504_zps552cc762.jpg

With a man at the front, I was in a luxury position; I countered attacks and sat back.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s505_zps2322c52c.jpg

When I noticed the fatigue on the faces of Valverde and Kwiatkowski, due to many attempted attacks, I placed a little attack of my own.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s506_zps6f4cdc05.jpg

Offredo put in his final performance of the day. I brought Gilbert and Boasson Hagen. I was riding for time, they were riding for the win of the day.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s507_zps2c2f89de.jpg

We took it home. I finished 2nd, but I was content. I might have won if I had bluffed near the end, but I wouldn't risk losing time.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s508_zpsfdf7e826.jpg

Then the results came in. WHAT THE F***? What do you mean, 0 seconds difference? What is this bullshit? You wouldn't see a gap if it came up and bit you in the ass! Same time...

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Oooh I am mad! Now they've done it. That decision was far from fair!

Tomorrow I'll be riding on anger!
Henry

Ollfardh
Outrageous!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Jesleyh
Well, that's ridiculous indeed.
Nice 2nd place though.

Atlantius
A scandal. You would think the French would be able to spot a gap behind one of "their own" riders Angry

I've seen and had worse gaps Wink But goddamn it sucks so much when it happens!

What a horrible call. This idiot officials

Dippofix
Them idiots. Angry
And what Atlantius said. Youd've thought they'd give a time gap to one of "their" riders?!? Angry

Ian Butler
Ollfardh - Indeed Frown

Jesleyh - Thanks. Though if I had known about the time difference, I would've went for the sprint.

Atlantius - I don't think this ever happened. The other way around, yes, but not to favour a non-French rider Smile

TheManxMissile - Yeah, I don't have a lot of experience with it. Mostly the gaps are quite fair in my careers. This one was pretty big, though. Especially since there was a big gap between us and Kwiatek & Kwiatek and the peloton.

Jakstar22 - Couldn't agree more.

Dippofix - That's what they would do in real life. But PCM is just illogical Wink

Paris - Nice 2015 - Stage 6
i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s601_zps86dc7fad.jpg
The day of decision. An uphill finish where we'll let our legs speak.
I'm still a bit worked up from yesterday, I'll be riding strong!

The Race
There was a large breakaway today.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s602_zpscc8c3fdf.jpg

I had a pretty good feeling in my legs, so I asked the team to ride. Even though I'm still only 23, I'm growing more confident and start embracing being a leader at times.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s603_zps000844c4.jpg

The attacks came before the final climb. This was to my advantage. A climber prefers a battle over the entire slope instead of just the final few kilometers.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s604_zps749c2e44.jpg

And then... Then it was up to me!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s605_zps40ad6ed3.jpg

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s606_zpse94075c6.jpg

I was lucky that Van Den Broeck and Quintana are both very strong climbers and took the relays.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s607_zpsfd59ab47.jpg

They were extremely tough and the final sprint couldn't be more exciting!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s608_zpsb28f8a68.jpg

This is a victory I will cherish for a long time, a tight sprint with these guys. Real happy today!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Yes, the Yellow Jersey! Two more stages, I might take this again. This is great. Now I just have to keep my act together and be attentive!

I'll probably won't be able to report back tomorrow, so it'll be after the final day. Podium ceremony can take it out of you.
See you then,
Henry

Paris - Nice 2015 - Stages 7 - 8

Stage 7
i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s7801_zpsc54e36ec.jpg
Celesio took full control of the pack today. We kept the breakaway at a distance, let them compete for the overall victory.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s7802_zps19a8e420.jpg

And they did. Agnoli came out on top.

Stage 8
i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s7804_zps6deac516.jpg

The final stage. Starting in a yellow jersey really gives a thrill, time after time.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s7805_zps6af98029.jpg

Although this is a time trial, it's a day for the climbers, really. Nobody started on a time trial bike.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/s7806_zpsd2a67004.jpg

When I crossed the line, I didn't even need to look up to the time, I just felt it, I had won!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Amazing! The failure of the Tour Down Under looks so far away now. Paris - Nice, 2nd time in a row. It seems unbelievable.
I love this race and it seems this race kind of loves me back. The audience was fantastic once again! The team supported me brilliantly and I can't thank them enough for this!

Luckily, though, Team Celesio - Macquarie is organized a bit better than Citigroup was, so during the race I was kept away from the press. Only after the time trial on Col d'Eze hell seemed to broke lose.

My palmares is coming along great. From now on, it's all eyes on the Tour!

Now it's back home, where I'll pick up a copy of Playboy.
Well, mostly for the article, you remember I told you about that, right?

See you then,
Henry

Jakstar22 - Maybe she's in it herself? Pfft

anderspcm - To be honest, I didn't expect it, but with Valverde low on form and Vergnaud being very high on form, it turns out it could be done Grin

Dippofix - Every one except Mountains, that's for Offredo Wink

What another Great achievement to add to Henry's growing palmares Grin
