Really? Ah that does explain a lot then. Still an unbelievable time but it does make me think of De Gendt on the Stelvio, where simply knowing the climb better than anyone helped him a lot.

Surprisingly good climb from Chavanel

Yep, he said it many times he lives around 8km from the climb and it's the climb he does during the winter most so it should help him when it comes the this stage.
Still amazing time, I guess being the strongest climber and ITT'er in the race helps creating such time as well, but who knows.

Of course. That's why Sky dominates every race. That's why even their helpers destroys other teams captains. They know all the stages. |

If he beats Wiggo's time, I know something is wrong. |

It's not, it definitely helps a little though, but clearly being the best climber and itt'er in the race - does
But well, as I said, who knows.

Porte's time last year: 20'56"
Porte's time this year: 19'16"
That's with an easier overall course and having not attacked to win a mountain stage two days before.

Porte 1min40secs faster than last year over a 9 and a half km ride.
Yep, totally believable. Nothing unusual there
Even Sky fans have to admit this has gone completely beyond the pale. Even Vino didn't make it this obvious
Still, I've seen this SO many times over the years that I know exactly how they'll react. They'll believe this is legitimate, then be shocked and amazed in a few years when the truth outs

Maybe he forgot that he trains every day there?
Now he remembered.

Can you compare last year effort though ?
He wasn't going full out as he wasn't trying to win the GC, he had nothing to gain last year with going full on. Still that time is just...

But last year he wasn't in contention for the win so why would he push himself to the max like he did this year? Now obviously thats not going to account for the 1m 40secs but its going to account for some of it.
EDIT: Alakagom'd
