Did I hear them right? Better chance of winning the the league with Arsenal than City?
Arsenal haven't won anything in 6-7 years. City won the FA Cup last year and are leading the league now.
Why? Money? City is a big bubble that will go down in a few years. Compared to that, Arsenal is one of the best teams of the last decade, consistently in top 4 fo many years in PL and every year in CL. One can't forget Gooners built a new stadium and are in re-building times, still not so bad considering it

And how will a new stadium make Arsenal a better team?
City's money-men might withdraw at one point or another, but neither you nor I can make a prediction about that. So based on what the teams look like now, you'd have to be pretty crazy to believe that Arsenal has a better chance of winning the Premier League than City. Just look at the standings. Or the fact that City actually won a trophy last season. Arsenal fans can barely remember the last time they won anything. |

I think that Citys major threat might be their own opinion of themselfs. A team like City who can come to a match with 3 world class starting XI, will be in a position to win everything all the time. There has been so much hype about City now and how they are going to dominate football. Well, they are going to have to start dominating soon.
They are out of the Champions League, out of the FA Cup and might be out of the League Cup as well. This leaves only one thing; the Premier League. Sure, the PL is one of the biggest trophies you can win in todays football, but is it enough?
If City doesn't start making it atleast to the finals of a competition, how long will it be before the investors cuts of the money flow? Also, how will the players and fans react to a team like City not winning any trophies even though they have maybe the best team in the world, atleast on paper? |

I wouldn't be too surprised if we get a minor shock today, not after what has happend to Arsenal and United these last few weeks. Besides, City will have to bounce back from losing 2-3 to United and 1-0 to Liverpool. This might be to their advantage, though, seeing as how they will be out looking for revenge.
It's either going to be very close or a complete trashing. |

Still, Arsenal is in the CHL, City not.
And what sort of a question is it with a stadium?I thought you are studying sport jurnalism (CT), so you could know new stadium brings better comfort for the players/fans + better income from tickets and lot of another advantages and yes, this could make a better team in the long run.
And at the same time it creates a big debt for the team financially, so Arsenal was not able to hold their finest players on the big wages/offer them better wages (Touré,Gallas,Adebayor,Clichy,Nasri,Fabregas....)
That loan is still going and Arsenal is paying it (not as Barcelona or majority of spanish, italian clubs who are hundreds of millions of euros in debt and still going deeper wit the new debts to pay the old ones).
Overall i think Arsenal is doing pretty well concerning the fact they are still in the tough re-building times (still top 5 in PL, through group stages in CL).
And resumé?Yes, i really think Arsenal is, and will be more successfull club also in the 21 century and i will gladly bet with anyone that City will not win a league title this year.

How is Arsenals financial situation at the moment compared to the major teams in the Premier League? I have a feeling that they are one of the more well run clubs when it comes to finances. That might also be the reason why they are kinda struggling |

Just to get one thing clear: I'm not studying sports journalism
You're expecting a lot of deriving effects from building a stadium - it might happen, it might not. Either way, it doesn't change what I'm saying: In the current situation, City has a much larger chance of winning the Premier League than Arsenal.
What you're saying is that Arsenal will have better chances of competing in the future (when? 5-10 years?) - true or not, I don't know. |

This and this only. And to be honest Arsenal has no chance of winning league this year.
While I think Arsenal will benefit from Wenger's 'Doctrine'. They are one of the few clubs that are not in debt. They actually make profit, unlike their biggest rivals. This will be massive plus with the new FIFA rules. In few years I think Arsenal will have its golden age once again, but this season or the next I doubt they have a chance at all in winning the title.

A new stadium is a pretty big gamble for any club and in my mind it is more a product of success, not a producer of success. A new stadium most likely won't lift the spririt of neither the fans nor the players enough to bring them to the top. They will probably win the games they would have won anyway and lose the ones they would have lost anyway.
On the financial side you will have to have a long, long perspective for it to the worth the cost. Most teams that build a new stadium do it because of the infrastructure, the stands might be crumbling down, facilities are not good enough, etc. |

Newcastle have signed Papiss Cissé from Freiburg. If Demba Ba stays, then I say the Magpies have quite a nice attacking front.

If it is not his replacement right away. There are rumours that Demba Ba has a very low release fee in his contract-around 6milEuros- that would be a bargain for anyone.

I think it was mentioned on Sky Sports the other day, that his minimum release fee is £10million
A nice bargain me thinks |

Defoe misses a great chance to make it 2-3, King fouls Ballotelli in the penalty box, and the Italian makes it 3-2. All this beyond the 90 minutes. |

Great match and drama, although Totenham at least deserved draw from that match though. Very important win for City.

Defoe ... well, that was stupid.
But what King does afterwards is simply one of the stupidest things I have seen a pro footballer do. |
