Nobody knew for sure that Cavendish would win this one, the hill at the end did make it slightly interesting. However I believe that if the course was harder before the final hill Gilbert for example would have a better shot at beating Cavendish, last years course with this years finish could've been interesting to watch. |

How far ahead is the route for the WC announced? Won't the next race be similar to Amstel?
Do you know anything about how the route will be in 2013, or something?
As far as I know the 2012 route is done: https://www.limburg2012.nl/section.php...parcoursen
I also tried to find out about the 2013 route, but I'm not sure yet if that's ready. I found one profile made on bikemap though, which could look like a good WC route.
The 2013 one is rumoured to be pretty hard, similar to Mendrisio. In Zomegnan we trust.

I don't think you can say that this was way to easy. I'll admit that it wasn't as hard as other editions, but don't forget that Cancellara took 4th from a bunch sprint.
Didn't he finish 5th on Champs Elysees? Cancellara can manage to sprint fairly well if he has to. |

While everyone is arguing with each other, page after page. Cav is probably doing tequila shots with supermodels in some Copenhagen nightclub.

Just check out the terrain around Florence, and it's looking to be really tough. |

The Tour of Britain? Seriously? Cavendish will face a 1000000 times stronger field in the Worlds. In both his wins there, he beat his lead out man, and both were under 200 km (one of them under 100km). And the Tour de France stage you're talking about was under 170 km, and was a GT stage, which is raced pretty differently from a one day race, and particularly the Worlds. .
Was the way he won from about 15 bike lengths back from then it was obviously to me he was in top form to win today and he did

Id just like to say that I am also glad that jokovic isnt British
All in all, I found the race more exciting than it might have been. All those tuning in for only the final lap sort of missed out, as all the aggression came before then. Bit of a shame there were no big attacks on the final lap, but I guess its a case of not underestimating how fast the peloton was going - and wow, Wiggins really put in a huge turn towards the end.
And of course, glad Cavendish won. He wont have many opportunities to win the Worlds in his career, this was one, and he took it.

Then we have the same thoughts and yes wiggins did a great job actually whole the team.BUT i think goss was the fastest but cavendish timed better |

Cavendish beat Goss, simple. Its all about the finish line, get there first. Doesnt matter if youre not first a metre or two later. Goss was faster at the finish line, but he didnt get there first.

Greipel was finishing even faster than Goss but he didn't win either - you might as well say that someone who finished 20 minutes behind was faster. It's irrelevant.

Good race - I enjoyed that.
I'm not a Cav fan but you've really got to hand it to him and British cycling. Cav for finishing it off - as he said, he had no option after all the work the team had done. And British cycling for instilling a winning mentality in its riders. Coming from Britain, it's something other sports here can definitely learn from.
Cancellara must have been gutted to have missed out on the bronze by what must have been less than a millimetre. All this talk about who was going fastest - the day someone tells Cancellara you can sprint faster with your hands on the drops we'll see some speed....
And I added another reason to the ones I really dislike Voeckler too. One minute he's shaking his head in the late break saying he can't do any more - then the next he's the only one responding to Hoogerland and what do you know - he's then the one to have one last throw of the dice when the break is reeled in.
Anyway - well done, Cav! |

Voeckler has pulled that move so many times no one is surprised anymore. I don't know how many times i've seen him feign tiredness before suddenly attacking. |

This. I fully agree, I was about to post it aswell when he shook his head. Also, when Hoogerland made it to Voeckler's group, Voeckler stopped taking his turns. What a fool.
And it was a good race in my eyes aswell. The last 50 kilometres were all on fire, with lots of attacking, though, in the end, it came down to the predicted bunch sprint, and well done Cavendish for finishing it off for Great Britain. |
