hi guys! I an going to buy a new bike. I want a road bike or a hardtail MTB. I am 18 cm high, and inseam(is it the right word?) 85 cm. My budget is 1800€/1700£. Can any of you suggest a bike?
I have cosidered to buy one of Team GLS Pakkeshop's Revolution C40 for 1800€/1700£. The bike has been used in the 2008 season. Carbon/White and it got full SRAM force group, FSA handlebar, stem, seatpost, crankset, Prologo saddle, Principia wheelset(Can get a Dura Ace low rim wheelset for 130€/125£ extra).

Don't buy (as we call it in the US) a factory bike. If a bike has been raced and trained on by a pro, its most likely going to have serious issues upkeep wise. I may have misread your post though |

Well, it depends. Normally ProBikes have seen a lot of mileage but its hit and miss if they have been well maintained. If teams desperatly want to get rid of the bikes the mechanics will service them before. But if not it may be a long time when they were last used and looked over. |

I think the Principia is OK to me. I am not a seriously cyclist, and is not racing that much.. I am just cycling for fun.
I've found this Canyon Ultimate CF 7.0 MD 2008

If your looking for a mountain bike I would go with either Trek, Gary Fisher, or Specialized, also if you can find one cheap, a high end brand, such as Titus or Intense is also very nice. |

Before choosing any brand, check the frame geometry of all them, there are differences between American and European brands.
The Trek geometry is more ergonomical and European brands more racing style. |

Tylew is completely correct. Trek used to have a series called the Pilot series, with a more upright, comfortable ride, which they accomplished by raising the head tube and creating a slope in the frame. For 09, they retired the Pilot, and now all the Madone's, 2, and 1 series bikes have accommodated that geometry, albeit not as dramatically, by raising the head tube less and not sloping the frame. However, you can still get four bikes in the Madone (carbon fiber) series with the "Pro" fit, instead of the new "Performance" fit. I highly recommend that you go to a bike store and at least try out the new "performance" geometry on the Trek's as I think you will find that they have a great feel to them.

Well Specialized beat Trek hands down for Sportif/comfort bike. The Roubaix is the cutting edge of sportif technology and infact Tom Boonen request it for Paris Roubaix. Specialized then developed a bike with a sligthy shorter top tube and shorter wheel base so that the rider would be more up right on the bike. This releaves stress on the riders back and shoulders making for a more comfortable ride. There are Zerts inserts which are Gel road vibrationing pads that take away a lot of the Roads vibrations. It also uses some technology they use on the Tarmac like a tappered head tube to improve stiffness and to improved handling. Trek use none of these. The just use very low modulus Carbon that is better at "soaking" up the road vibrations but this compromises on stiffness and how responsive the bike is.

Hehe, i know that you are scared now
On the subject of moutain bikes, if you are looking for a Hard tail, Trek arnt bad because they basically convert a Road frame into a Mountain bike frame. But you are right they are very sucky. If i were you id go with a more respected Mountain bike brand, Specialized are very good in the Full Sus market but what they lack in Hard tail is the jump from basic hard tail to top end. Actually i found that the StumpJumper hardtail expert, that the one below Carbon is £1,699.99 but the Canyon on offer is a very good price for what it is. But yeah, i totally agree on Dont buy a trek.
