With the points jersey that wouldn't happen with riders like Menchov, Evans or Contador cause they have low sprint stats, while Valverde or Cunego can take points in the mass sprint finishes

Cunego wins the KOM points, but Valverde is close
Valverde takes the lead on the downhill
Valverde is first on Alpe di Pampeago
Then a group with Ricco, Cunego, Zubeldia, Efimkin, Pellizotti and Nibali
Siutsou is very far from the front battle
Pellizotti and Efimkin are left behind
Zubeldia too
Ricco and Cunego almost caught Valverde
Ricco attacks
Cunego goes after Ricco. Valverde is dead

Cunego attacks on Passo Fedaia with a lot of riders after him.
Then Valverde but it could be too late cause Cunego is already far away
