Nice to see the story back. Strong season start with Ewan looking like a worthy opponent.

It was an elimination race in this year's Strade Bianche with a huge crash taking out of contention most of the pack with less than 40km to go. Eenkhoorn and Felline did their best to put Van Aert in a good position, but the Belgian's speed was no match for Metkel Eyob's, who had the ride of his life to take the biggest win of his career.

Calmejane took the early lead in the race after winning the opening stage, while Gaviria showed off his rainbow jersey in the only mass sprint of the race, managing to beat riders like Caleb Ewan and Dylan Gronewegen.
The GC was seriously shaken up in the fourth stage time - trial. Last year's winner, Marc Soler had again a great ride, but it was Wout Poels who ended up taking the yellow jersey, while Sivakov finished with a disappointing result, outside the top 10.
Sivakov would show glimpses of brilliance in the very next stage though as he did a beautiful lead out for Powless who delivered the stage win for the team.
Powless loves stage wins in France
The GC of the race would be decided in the seventh stage, the only mountain top finish of the race, where Wout Poels could not keep up with the strongest riders in the race. Miguel Angel Lopez was the strongest rider as he took both the stage win and the yellow jersey. Sivakov did enough to gain back some places in the GC, but only enough for fifth overall.
Lopez already flying so early in the season

The race started very well with the team winning the opening stage, which allowed Fabio Felline to keep the blue jersey for the first four stages of the race.
The overall standings would be decided in the fifth queen stage. Egan Bernal attacked quite early, but with Felline didn't allow the gap to grow too much, before Laurens De Plus himself went after the Colombian. With 2km to go De Plus caught Bernal and then outsprinted him for the stage win. And with the time - trial on his side there was no question who would win the overall.
De Plus defeats and exhausted Bernal

A tough weather and an early abandon from Eenkhoorn saw things not working as well as Jumbo were hoping, with Van Poppel missing out on the win for the second year in a row, with Quinten Hermans taking the top spot on the podium.

After an unsuccessful attempt with 3 other riders on Cipressa, Peter Sagan decided to go solo between the two mythical climbs in La Primavera in what was quite clearly a suicidal move
With Sagan caught at the foot of Poggio, it was time for the real big moves of the race, with SKA, Mads Pedersen and Formolo putting in a very strong attack. And it would actually prove to be the winning move, with no one able to organize a chase behind them.
Despite being the weakest sprinter in the group on paper, Formolo managed to beat the other two and take a fantastic win on home soil and proving that this year's edition was ridden a lot harder than in previous years
