Some cathing up to do, haven't had the chance to see the videos so will just base my thoughts of the results:
Not a great Giro d'Italia so far. Rolland outside the top ten, I send him here to go for a good GC instead of him having to ride behind the big guns in the TDF. Nice to see the rest of the team seeking the breakaway though.
That Kadri zabel
Lambert with a great Giro del Valle d'Aosta, finally something positive from our Dev team
Also a decent GP Sochi with Geniez taking the KoM.
Thanks for giving me a lot to catch up on to all the reporters

Bardet attacks, gets 30 secs, blows up, gets passed - oh no here we go again, gets back on on the downhill, up to 8th. Can I hope for a top 5? His recovery is improved but not great.
Yes I can!
Bardet on top form with a stage win and gaining time on everyone, magic stuff. Still got a mountain time trial to come though, not sure which stat will be dominant.
KOM competition is very tight with the top 6 only separated by 12 points and 2 big mountain days left. Suntory & CCC both have 2 riders in the top 6 but it might be difficult to keep in front of Aru.
Shame about Zabel crashing out, he was having a good tour.

What a steaming pile of shit this Giro has been. Girdlestone seems to be the only guy who cares. What a difference a year makes.
Thanks to Sam Spokes and Andy Byrne of all people for making May tolerable.

Stage 17 and 18 posted: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....st_1281693
Stage 17 with a long video, we kick in on the penultimate climb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9R90...9R90LO_ZDo
Also for Stage 18 a short video as the short incline shortly for the finish could be tricky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibH5J...bH5JivikBE
Spoiler Strong showing by Aru to get himself a stage win in the pink jersey. Verona is unbelievable, still fighting against Bardet for 4th.
Sorry dominox, I have no clue why Ochoa suddenly decided to withdraw shortly after being in the break. He definitely did not crash and just gave up shortly after the top of the mountain. It seemed like he was frustrated his attack didn't stick. There go more valuable points that he could've scored through the koM and U25 competition.
It's great to see that someone from the first batch of regens now made a good impression on the biggest GT stage. Moreira winning two stages is surely a historical ICL moment. |

Majka having a go the last few stages is nice, this race is still balls unless he moves to fourth at the least but unlikely with all five above looking strong. Shame to see Ochoa retire, I was loving cheering for him and Rivera on their attacks
Shame we haven't gone for breaks at all too much other than paredes in the early KoM battles.

A top 30 is all I'm getting it seems. And a top 5 in the Points and U25. Not enough from this race. Intxausti could try joining a couple of breaks now, if he pleases

Good by Ruben to stay in the Top 10 for now. 7th is a nice goal for the remaining stages and within reach still but is more likely that he drops and finishes 10th or 11th.
Aru putting the nail in the coffin, amazing performance on the penultimate multimountain stage. Looks like we will get the definitive answer on the winner om stage 20 though, a stage where you can lose minutes.

Yeah, we still have to wait, but it's looking better and better für Aru. krisa called him "the future Giro winner" in the team HQ (with a very unflattering photo) and I was cheekily going to ask him if he meant the Giro del Trentino after Aru won it earlier this season. Of course, that was against much weaker competition. Now he's getting close to winning the "real thing", possibly taking points and KoM jerseys, too. Go Fabio!
Shame about Ochoa, odd that he simply steps off the bike like that. Also, once again, a beautiful course.

Did Quintana crash? I have no other explanation. He has the best support and should be the best climber, but he keeps getting beaten by Thibaut f***ing Pinot? Maybe Allianz can go for the title with all that Barguil overperformances on top. I wouldn't have guessed, also feel really bad for knockout. I like Aru winning here because of the story that brought him here, but if Quintana can't beat Pinot in 21 stages I'll loose my mind.

Okay, maybe no points jersey then... I still hate the fact mountainstages give Just as many points, makes literally no sense but whatever. 15th in the GC would also be something rather special.

Carbonsports and CCC not having much luck.
Bardet back down to 5th! Need to crack Verona on the last HC climb.
Hope one of my guys has a go for the KOM points, and we can sneak into 2nd place in the team event.
Aru looking good, stage 20 is a beast though, might depend who has the +5 day, looking forward to it.
Thanks for the super videos Bikex.

At the moment Il giro is going really well for our guys. So far two stage wins, several top ten places, leading GC, KOM and Points ranking as well as being second in the young GC. In fact both the guys for the flat (Boaro, Boem and Bruno) and the guys who clear the path for Aru are doing a fantastic job so far.
Now he only has to survive two mountain stages and a flat sprinters stage. Both Pinot and Quintana are stronger the Aru in TT's but the fact it's a mountain TT he might make a chance to win another one. Stage 20 will be a hard stage to control, so I just hope my guys will do easy on the timetrial the day before.
It would be cool to see Quintana get the second podium spot on the final podium. He just seems to lack race form on the stages it really matters or he is saving energy for stage 20. After 18 stages so far he may thank both Polanc and Uran who have kept him in such an high position. Pinot on the other hand seems like the strongest in some stages which is really weird. He doesn't have the best stats but is overperforming all giro for now. We'll see hou it will develop.
Last words are for the manager of the CCC team. I'm feeling really sorry for you to have Ochoa going home before the end of the race. You might not have got any podiums till now but you're guys are rocking the race. That's how Wildcard teams have to race. Great Showing, thanks.

Somebody more active in the yotube community can tell me, but didn't that Ochoa bug occur to Valverde multiple times in one of those Allez or whatever draft series things? Back in pcm13 or 14 days

What are you on about? Quintana is doing okay so far. On top of that two more of your riders are likely to get a top 10. Compared to the fate of other teams you have little right to complain imo. And no Quintana of course did not crash, his performance is in the range of what could have been expected. He is still beating Bardet, the third 82 climber.

In the ICL points file it is determined that mountain stages should just give 15 points, hilly 25 and flat stages 45, but for some reason sometimes the game considers mountain stages with a flat finish as flat stages and so awards 45 points to the winner there (EBH also profited from this). I don't know how this can be fixed but if someone has some experience with editing PCM xml files, he might could take a look at the files and see if this can be changed. |
