Lars Johannes Antonius Boom!! Thanks for releasing us from a 9 year long draught in tdf stage victories
Also amazing Lieuwe Westra... did a fantastic job for Nibali, who is know 2 minutes ahead of everyone.
Contador will have a mammoth of a job winning the Tour now.
Sad that Froome didn't make it. It would be interesting to see if he was 3/4 minutes behind and make war in the mountains.
The Vuelta will have an awesome line up now with Quintana, Rodriguez, Froome, Valverde, Kelderman, etc
Contador's team is such a bad team imo! Westra was all alone riding against the likes of Tinkoff and also Valverde's team. Still they only lost time. Seems to me they are not as strong as everyone thought they were.
Or Westra took some lessons with Vinokourov

So Contador lost time to everyone and has probably weakest climbing team. He will need Quintana type of day to win.
But I think he is best climber now that Froome is gone.
Yeah, Roche, Rogers, Paulinho and Hernandez are shite
Seriously, go troll somewhere else.
Ya the 15+ mins Hernandez was after the GC before today was just a lie right.
This is a repeat of last year and it just proves that Contador is finished as a GC favorite.
What has Hernandez being 15 minutes down got to do with how he will support Contador later in the race? Why should he be any higher in the GC, wasting energy early in a 3 week race for absolutely no reason is great tactics.
Contador is not the same rider as last season and all you need to do is look at his results thus far, he lost time today on a wet cobbled stage hmmm what a shock! Nibali is a good bike handler and simply raced the stage better, he has always done well in wet conditions, sure the margin he and Astana gained was more than I expected but it's not surprising the gained. I am not a Contador fan at all and get tired of all the love he gets from cycling fans but he certainly knows how to race and can pick up time when he sees a opportunity (2012 Vuelta is a good example)

He has been looking good all season I agree, but creating a gap to Sagan and Spartacus was unreal

Love that picture! Movistar's team did much better than I expected today and Valverde stayed with the others favourites, minus Nibali which is a succes. Vamos! |

It was unreal, even they looked surprised when they went for it and only Boom was with them

Who knows for sure but not sure I'd have a balanced outlook on the finish line of that stage.

I am sure I would be pissed as well just like TVG was glad to see he at least realized what he said was wrong in regards to the sport of cycling and the tour though. |

In his initial interview he basically said the stage was bullshit and organizers should never put something like this that could influence the GC in the tour. |

Contador didn't crash, I bet he'll give a good fight to Nibali. Still, the italian looks in great shape, it'll be hard for Contador or anyone else to gain much time to him.
There's still plenty of Tour left though. |

Okay, so I didn't wake up in time to watch the race, but recorded it and watched so putting in my thoughts now.
First, Nibbles being the big winner of the day isn't a shock at all, he is easily the best bike handler of the GC guys, that wasn't a surprise. The margin he won by, and the other riders he and Fuglsang beat though... that was a shock.
Second, loved the comments by TVG, saying what he thought, however I disagree, I liked having the cobbles, though I will admit the rain really made this bad for the tour this year. Perhaps in the future have a similar route planed, but keep an alternate (non-cobbled route) as an option if the weather looks like this. Also I think he was told to post the apology on his twitter and the "Today was an epic day of bike racing!!!" is certainly sarcastic.
Also my Velogames team is sitting pretty for the future a bit now with Porte.

Just watched now. What a stage. Froome out and Contador down on time now has really opened up the race. Nibali looks incredibly strong, don't know how him and Fuglsang managed to drop Cancellara and Sagan.
Congrats to Boom as well, rode his race perfectly. |

So you would prefer even fewer stages that actually have an effect on the GC?
