Hmm, not sure how it could possibly be mountainous, I've seen more selective flat stages! Solid from Pirazzi, but I wish he'd attacked, and if he'd lost time he'd officially be executed.
Also, Firmamsyah's here, go him, he'll take the GC easy, despite 72 Mt

I think the length is the problem. Reduce the slope %, so a smaller gradient.

Volta ao Algarve Preview
The 2013 Volta ao Algarve was the 39th edition of the Volta ao Algarve cycling stage race Algarve, Portugal.
Starlist
Stage previews
Stage 1
The first stage of the Volta ao Algarve kicks off on a classified flat stage but the climbing mid stage may favour the sprinters with some hill climbing ability
Stage 2
Another flat stage which will again most likely end in a sprint, however, the hilly terrain may causing attacks towards the end of the stage, there will be a lot of strain on the teams with favourites to reel riders back
Stage 3
The hardest stage you'll get at this stage race, an uphill finish but unlikely to cause any real selection, there will be time gaps though and the weaker time triallists with GC aspirations will be looking to take seconds advantage here
Stage 4
The defining day and the last day of the Volta ao Algarve, the mid-range time trial will favour the true time triallists and the stage race will be won, expect a close finish.
GC favourites
Spilak (KAT)
Henao (SKY)
Costa (MOV)
Po-Ding Kim (EUC)
Sprint favourites
Napolitano (AJW)
Richeze (LAM)
Gavazzi (AST)
Traksel(CSS)
Chicchi (FAR)

Why isn't Po-Ding Kim a favourite? Hmm, the 34km TT will definitely decide this(79TT), and his climbing values(76MO+HI) are good as well...

Sorry Jesleyh, completely missed him, P.Kim didn't spring to mind Po-Ding Kim when I was searching for some reason

Yay, I'm happy now at least
This race is just perfect for him, so I was just surprised that he was not there

It doesn't look like it should be a good race, but with the line-ups there are some good GC riders here and TT should be very close.
Also, I've done the first stage, please forgive me for my first ever report and the screenshots

nacho, don't worry about it. The fact is you volunteered to help for something that you didn't have to do. If anybody complains about it, send them the save and let them do it . As long as you get the gist of the stage across, it will be fine. And you only have four stages to worry about, I've got ten of the bastards . |

Yeah guys, I don't want any reporter bashing. Feedback is ok of course, but do so in a constructive and polite way. So far all reports and previews have been of excellent quality, so if some a re a bit shorter, I don't even care

Yeah, as long as it gets there relatively fast, I'm not complaining
Also, I see Neilster is online, I hope that's a good sign

Hi guys, again my sincerest apologies but work + girlfriend + driving test + church life have bumped PCM further down the pecking order for a while. However finally I have a Saturday off So I can promise at least 2 stages today! And they won't disappoint!
Here's the first of the stages:
Stage 3
So now the tour starts in earnest for the GC men. They've left themselves a huge deficit to the current leader F. Schnaidt but here's the first day where they should be able to make back some of that time. Whilst the final climb isn't the biggest of the day, expect to see plenty of fireworks!
140km: And they're off! Oh this is interesting! A Europcar rider trying to make it in the break. It's D. Gaudin Is this a clever ploy or a vote of no confidence?
129km: He's joined by J. Pantano of the Colombia squad and they make it to the first Intermediate Sprint with Gaudin taking first spot and 3rd going to an attacking A. Zeits of Astana .
118km: However Champion Systems are loving their day in the sun and are working hard to keep things really tight as they bring it all back together.
100km: Everything stays quiet till with 100 to go we have an attack initiated by M. Christensen of Saxobank Tinkoff followed by other like Boev (Rusvelo), Beppu (Greenedge) and again Gaudin
82km: These make it to the first Mountain Sprint which Gaudin wins ahead of Beppu and Christensen.
70km: Yet Champion Systems keep slugging away on the front and it's back together before we have some serious attacks involving 2 of today's outsiders: It's Mendes of Netapp leading the attack, but more interestingly he has Zaugg Saxo-Tinkoff and Lopez of Sky in tow.
64km: These 3 along with Felline (Androni) make it to the summit with a 4'00'' gap to the pack, still lead by Champion. At the Mountain Sprint, it's Zaugg who takes top honours followed by Mendes then Lopez.
43km: They race down the hill and come to the 2nd Intermediate Sprint, with Felline showing why he's there as he sprints away for the points with the other 3 rolling through behind. The gap has come down to 2'56''.
26km: Then with less than 30 to go and a gap of around 2'00'' Zaugg trys his luck from a long way out! The other 3 get a new spring in their step and try to reel him back, but he's making a good go of it.
12km: And we're all back together before the final climb. A big hand has to be given to Champion Systems who have done superbly today with no help from anyone at all! Fine job lads, you can be proud of that.
10km: As the road starts to ramp up the attacks begin! Yet not from the riders you'd expect! It's Atapuma followed by Pardilla, Selldraeyers and Malacarne. Are these support riders going ahead? Surely it's a little too late for that?
4km: And it's back together again! All those attacks have been futile as I've no idea where Champion Systems get the energy from! Might have to take a look at their samples after
3km: And this is what we waited for! J. Rodriguez is out of the saddle and he's away! Finally the pack has splintered and it's every man for himself!
1km: And would you believe it, it's T. de Gendt who's pulled his way up to the Spaniard and with 1km to go is leading the way. In the background there are the other major favourites, but they're likely to lose time today!
0km: But the Belgian has used far too much energy and the Spaniard burns past him to take the sprint victory! Katusha are having a fantastic time here in South America!
Yet, thanks to the great work from his team, F. Schaidt keeps his jersey for at least one more day, but loses a huge chunk of time (a larger chunk than this commentator thought possible) as his lead is slashed to under a minute. Normality is restored!
