But thats the choice you make. If you single focus sure, you'll max that stat quickly but you'll fall behind on lots of others. More choices > Less choices. |

IMO it's more realistic that way |

Yes, i agree with Juan.
Put a limit of point to use in single stats for season?
That's also a good option
You don't have riders with 68 hill and 85 Mo |

Stat limit per season seems reasonable. |

Again this all works that everyone is going to get 5 points. If that happens the system has failed.
As i believe it, one maybe two riders will get 5 points, but most will get 1 or 2 at any point

Yes, the limits can be found at the first page, at the stat rules... But my point was if you can spent all your points on 1 skill, that skill could reach the limit after just a couple of years...

What about this rule I just came up with:
You highest stat may not be more than 5 points higher than your average.
That will keep riders realistic

But that wouldn't necessarily make it a strong rider. Okay 85 MO is dominating but with low REC, RES, STA and HILL, it isn't everything. |

Except we all know the averages go odd for FTR's and TTers and can go wired for other riders.

Looks like a good idea...
But some rider types have a disadvantage over some other rider types then...
I often see in DB's with just real riders some time-trialists with avarage e.g. 68, but TT skill of about 75/76

Maybe a max skill over average depending on the type, if you know what I mean? |

Then we just use the ManGame calculation for averages?

Yeah, and stuff like cobbles will get average down for some as well, I would stick with the "must divide between at least 3 stats" suggestion.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Or your highest skill can't be 4 higher than your 2nd highest skill? |

Yes, that's a good idea, but there is a good chance that you only get 2 points, so I don't think you can devide it between 3 stats then
So if we do that suggestion, we need to make that rule a little bit more complicated...

Stage 2
It was to be a difficult day in Australia for the peloton today with multiple slopes to ascend. This stage may be decisive in deciding the overall classification already and we're only at stage 2! Riders like Lye, Cunego, Oget, Veenhof and Dasko are going to be key protagonists today if a breakaway doesn't spoil the party. Rudy Verboven may throw up a surprise or two as well if it comes to a sprint. It'll certainly be interesting to see whether anyone goes on an early offensive. Even Peter Sagan or Mike Pye could win today if their form is good.
Garmin were on song today, working on the front for Adrian Hanzen and Mike Pye. Bakker was one of the main riders leading the peloton and was not letting De Kort (Argos Shimano) gain too much time...
Bakker and the Garmin team keep De Kort (small white spot at corner) in check.
A Sky rider fell off his bike whilst trying to stay with the peloton. The gap to De Kort is now just under 3 minutes and growing. He is going solo!
De Kort would win the first intermediate sprint with the remaining points gathered by Pettachi and Greipel ahead oh Oscar Freire, Dag Jensen and Marcel Kittel.
Two photographs of the first sprint.
Mike Pye was a popular rider in Australia it seems as he rides next to his name written in blue. Some riders also sprint for the minor placings of the only classified climb of the day. De Kort took first.
Mike Pye - An Australian's favourite.
However, the attack on that climb was serious and Delaplace, Westra, Txurruka, Ballan and Nuyens escaped. The Garmin team was still working on the front.
The breakaway was now five men and riding hard, taking the final points in the intermediate sprint. Delaplace is caught between the peloton and the breakaway group.
Delaplace catching up with the break. Gap to the peloton is 5 minutes.
The first climb was an anti-climax with no one attempting anything and Garmin still controlling the race. At the rate they are going the break is doomed.
Then boom! You can hear the snap as a group of sixty riders fall off the back of the peloton. In this group is Louis Remington, Degenkold, Scalvini and Jensen! Not a good day for them today, yesterday must have really exhausted them!
First casualties with 50km to go.
They rejoin but the whole peloton is like a piece of spaghetti! They then crack on the next climb with 40km to go in renewed force with 71 riders off the back. This time the gap is three minutes and growing!
Cunego was obviously getting impatient with the slow nature of the race and he goes off the front of the peloton with under 30km to go.
Cunego is first of the favourites to go!
Next up is Vanendert who tries to catch up with Cunego! The race is on now! Gerrans tries to follow but both attacks are nullified by Dasko.
Dasko asserts his authority over the other puncheurs. It had taken a lot out of him though and he quickly slipped really far back.
Boom! The big riders are pushing on now. Pye, Iglinsky and Lye go on the offensive with 20km to go.
Pye and Lye. Hey, that rhymes!
They are shortly reeled in before more attacks come in!
Left to right: Lye, Sagan, Vanendert, Iglinsky, Oget. Meanwhile Cunego is 40 seconds ahead.
Shock! Hanzen goes onto the offensive in orange followed by another ider in orange, Knol.
Risky move by orange? Yes. Cunego and the BotD is reeled in now.
Gerrans and Cunego wiggle away with 10km to go! Will this be the decisive attack? No.
Reeled in, Gerrans then attacks with venom and numerous riders follow.
Another attack that failed. This one looked promising though.
Into the final 1.5 km now...
1.0 km to go... Roche leading...
500 metres, the gap has shrunk a lot! It's all to play for now!
Incredible finish by Henkjan Knol. He came from a distance but had another to win!
