It has to be ESPN. It'll be Jeremy Schapp. Calling it now. |

If he has agreed to do it, I wonder iif the uci have given him the heads up, arent they due to decide whether to appeal or not? I guess its plausible that his confessing before the uci ratify usada's call..
Otherwise the timing is odd. I expectted the uci to appeal it, so a smart confess time would have been after that. Then he could have painted the uci as the arch villian and become cyclings saviour. |

I would say that I'd doubt that the UCI would appeal it, but well, you never know with Pat McQuaid.
Also interesting, Lance hasn't tweeted in four days...

I asssumed the uci had to appeal iit, or certainly parts. It detailed the tour of swizz test, so they cant accept the report as is without accepting they are a corrupt body and there signing their own warrants.
And lance as barely tweeted at all since the report broke. |

Not appealing it and accepting it are two entirely different things.
If they don't feel they can win the appeal, they can publicly announce their denial and say they aren't appealing because they feel it would be futile.
Which I think is what they'll do. |

I can see that. Play the Armstrong defence. 'i'm innocent, but everyone thinks i'm guilty and becausse I have precog powers can predict any future outcome will be a witchhunt and pointless'.
Prolly argue that making the evidence pulbic means their cant be a fair trial etc.
Or I guess maybe they can argue the swizz stuff is all just things people claim lance told them. It doesnt actuallly prove that it happened, just that lance claimed iit did. |

A confession from Lance? Not going to happen. Maybe when he's 90 or something, but I doubt it.
And Nike ... what a bunch of idiots. It's only days ago they fully stood by Armstrong and supported him when they should have cut the ties. Nothing has changed since then, yet they flip-flop. |

You're not being cynical. Lance's personality is extreme: If he doesn't have his wins to make him feel superior to everyone else, he has nothing. Wouldn't surprise me if he does that.
Not that I think he will.

I know. Point is that they did risk getting bad press by supporting Armstrong in the first place.
Also, just to clarify, I'm glad Nike is ripping the contract apart, but it just comes off a little cowardly. |

Nike are rather shutting the stable door after the horses has bolted though. Its an obvious reaction to the stories re: them paying off the uci. Its too latee to stop that though, and I dont see investigative jouralists not digging deeperr into nike's actions with major sporting bodies. I imagine there is alot of dirt there.
I've heard lots of rumours of nike making dodgy payments for stars they spondorr and i''d be unsuprised if you start to get more now. This dropping of armstrong wont change that. |

As Ángel Heredia confessed, Nike and Adidas not only know very well that riders are doped, they actively encourage doping and put severe pressure on riders to do it to break records
Why? Because without records shoe sales drop enormously.

Do you mean that a company who uses child labour has no respect for the rules and encourages cheating? I would have never guessed it.

This list of alternative winners is really nice, but I'm not sure about it's accuracy. I mean, Sastre? |

UCI already said they'd leave the TDF's without a winner. |

When by their own rules the victory has to be granted to the second.

In a couple of these races you'd be dropping off the podium to get the next rider, and a lot of those guys are highly questionable as well.
Fine by me.
EDIT: And it's no longer Miller Time. Anheweser-Busch (or however it's spelled) has also backed away from Armstrong. Oh, and Radioshack as well.
They're dropping like flies.
